Hows the demo reel looking?
This is one of those films I've been hearing a bit about for a year or so now. It'll probably be covering the same old stuff but hopefully they'll make it entertaining.
I actually prefere 3 to 2
Not your photography demo reel I'm assuming =P
Agreed, it was definely a cool year for dystopian Britian... all that was missing was the Con/Lib coalition. Ho ho!
Now the downside to working in a cinema - standing up for 8 straight hours with PotC in 5 screens. Eck =/
really enjoyed this commentary. completely agree about it being a film thats really well made but not one you rush back to watch again.
Doc, It's probably the most straight forward plot they've ever done.
So I'm halfway through watching "Hunt for Red October" for the first time when the phone rings at twenty to midnight and its the girlfriend saying if I leave immediately she can hold off the projectionist putting on a staff showing of Pirates 4.
My expectations were quite low after... well the last couple of attempts at sequels and Brit film mag Empire giving it only 2 stars.
However I have to say whilst not nearly as good as the first it still managed to be bloody enjoyable, after a slow start a brillaint sequence with mermaids really works and from there its a proper adventure romp.
in a way it felt cheaper then the other entires with what felt like less settings and smaller battles but the more linear narrative makes up for it.
It's nothing amazing but it does what it sets out to do.
What did yo guys think?
cheers guys, looking forward to that commentary now!
Damn, I need an avatar =P
I'm not sure how many of the Pirates commentaries you've recorded but I watched the second movie with the writers commentary last night and one of the things mentioned was how they wanted to move away from "One hero and a three act structure"
thought that might be something to add to your discussion, how successful they were with it
I think this movie, and the comics are great. So there.
great thread idea!
It's well worth checking out Neil Gaimans "Don't Panic" a biography of Adams and Hitchhikers.
edit: you mentioned several times that Edgar Wright would have been a better choice to direct. He's actually in the film.
have you guys heard about this film?
Well if we're including deaths, I get John Ford as well
Not to mention the third Jack The Ripper murder, and Admiral Ozzel!
Jhonen Vasquez is great, I remember enjoying "Squee" and "I feel sick" as a teen.
Trey, cheers for that bit on canned laughter, interesting stuff
apparently I share a birthday with Richard Gere and the guy who did the clone troopers voice in the cartoon spin off. =/
Also Brits use miles, but thanks for the thought
When you started the commentaries did you really think you'd still be doing them 2 years later?
Hey, how come this had an obviously fake laughter track?! =P
Star Trek IV is great but I never remember why...
Fig, That rug totally ties the room together
Were you a zombie extra in SotD, Faldor?
Yeah, did a couple of days scratching at the pub set at Ealing Studios
