Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
And, you know, BttF, LotR.
I think skype works well enough, if the collaborators don't have much other choice. Also, I've never really suffered any delay there, so I can't comment on that. But yeah, in-room is definitely best, but should _I_, for instance, join in, skype would be cheaper than flying in
I think my main argument is that Blu-Ray tends to(at least where I come from) add bonus features, in addition to the great AV quality. I'm a sucker for bonus features. I mean, at least the good ones. 'Max Payne', for instance, is not only the worst film of all time, the bonus features elegantly match it.
As far as VHS goes, I still have the SW trilogy on VHS, and although it's been a few years now(read: many), I still remember them as awesome. However, seeing as tapes tend to degrade over time, I'd like to keep them as a memory, and move on. I've the theatrical editions on DVD, and to be frank, the quality on those is sub par as well, so I'm good.
Another thing is now that I own a blu-ray player and a HDTV, I don't WANT to purchase DVD's anymore. Some times the up-scaling is horrific and makes me want to puke, but Blu-ray in general looks crisp, no matter how old the film is.
Best. Commentary. EVARRR!
Two Things that would improve it even more:
1: If Dorkman actually came around for his laptop. I'd die to hear your bits for it
2: If I had been there live so I could blurt out "TOY STORY" as Miki's #NameYourPenisAfteraMovie.
My girlfriend only recently learned how to look at these. It's not all that easy, it would seem.
Yes, yes we do. I've a 50" Plasma, and watching DVD's on a 1080p screen just doesn't cut it, no matter how great your HD Upscaling algorithms are. As for Star Wars; who gives a shit anymore?
Lookin' good. The only downside is the gif-quality of the icons. Kinda bums me out
I'm not even English, and I've always pronounced it as Prymer.
I'm a mac. Very much so. However, past events involving a power surge and a broken screen have left me with no choice but to use a PC the last year. It's just too pricey for me right now, but I suppose it won't take long until I get a new one.
However, the retirement of Jobs really isn't that bad. Aside from the Keynotes, Jobs hasn't really been THE guy. He's the soul of Apple, and the one person people associate it with, but as far as actual managing goes, Tim Cook(new CEO) has been the guy for years. He's the head of the macintosh section, as well as the international sales rep, so I don't think Apple's going anywhere for a long time, nor will the products get worse, as Jonny Ive is still the lead designer. I think we're safe
I really tried to love fallout 3. I played it for two weeks in hope of it getting good at one point. It did not. This film, however, was fun
I tried to warn you people...Game of Thrones does NOT fuck around.
Well, actually...
On Topic, though, I have absolutely no idea why 'On Stranger Tides' got green lit.
Actually, concerning the teletubbies, I kinda get it. It's full of colors, a calm narrative voice, repetition and animals. You really can't go wrong with that, as far as children go. As an adult, however, it's obvious the creator was on acid.
Well, of course. The revving is just for show, and has absolutely no practical function whatsoever. Looks and sounds cool, though
Read this back in the day when it was relatively fresh, back when they had *JUST* started on AOTC. 'tis good fun
Hah. I spawned this. I fucking rule.
Fuck it, the film isn't worth a full review.
Basically; Jack is used too much, Gibbs is just tagging along, Blackbeard is weird, and a poor substitute for Davey Jones, Barbossa rather pointless, Angelica is boring and annoying.. Gah. Don't even get me started on the priest and the mermaid, which the film wanted us to care about, but failing to do so in every aspect.
In comparison to Indiana Jones, this is 'Temple of Doom'. It's one plot all the way thru, with very little switching between threads. Possibly done to try and go a different direction that AWE, but done in a way that you get tired, bored, and ultimately sleepy. I know I did.
Jack is still fun, at times, but mostly, it's just a toned down version of him. Barbossa really doesn't make any sense at all, and it seems like Rush didn't even try to portray him even close to what he's supposed to be. Blackbeard was an interesting character to begin with, but I soon realized I didn't care what happened to him either. Angelica was off to a cool start as well, but I wound up hating her fairly quickly.
The mermaid made sense in a no-sense-at-all kind of way, and the love plot between her and the priest was poorly written, poorly executed, and downright boring.
Basically, none of the characters had interesting arcs, the sets are way smaller and the plotline in general left much to be desired. If you're a fan of the first three like me, seriously don't bother watching it. At least unless you're absolutely sure you want a story that doesn't need telling, with laid-back versions of otherwise great characters.
**SEMI-SPOILERS**
Honestly, the only parts I can remember actually laughing loudly to, was Jack the monkey, and Sparrow's moment with Angelica in the end.
And why the fuck did Teague Sparrow just disappear with no reason?
I'm gonna write up a full review with spoilers as to why I really didn't like it. In short, it was clustered, full of characters I didn't care about, and felt more like a "Hey kids, it's Jack Sparrow!" thing than a PotC-film. In fact, had they called it "Jack Sparrow and the Fountain of Youth", I think I'd be much more OK with it.
You know what? I'm intently not listening to this. I love all 3 Pirates films (not counting OST, since I've yet to see it, and I reckon it should've been called Jack Sparrow and the *insert event/thing here* instead) equally, and considering you don't, I'm not gonna let you ruin this for me like you did the Matrix sequels. Even though I heartily agree with the latter.
I'm all for a prequel reboot, sure enough, but I think it's rather safe to say Lucas himself will never do it. Hell, it's even been 12 years since TPM, and it hasn't gotten its SE treatment yet. Just wait another 8 years or so to get that, and another 20 or so to make sure your optical media shelf contains nothing BUT star wars films in all shapes and varieties. Hell, maybe in 40 years(if the dude's still alive, obviously), we'll get a ultimate, final, special, directors 4D edition with all 6 films, in various states of quality. I highly doubt it, though.
I'm skeptical, but I love all 3 of the films equally, so I will be checking it out in a week or so.
