That's an interesting idea for sure, but I have to again disagree that Dredd is anything but dumb trash. I just don't see this brilliant movie that everyone else apparently did.

This was the dumbest movie I've seen in years. Comically bad. So overwheliming bad that I don't know how to approach it. Like. Look at it. It should be self evident.
EDIT: 94% on Rotten Tomatoes!? Wow. I'd have guessed 60-65%.
And yet you thought Dredd was "perfect." I mean, come on. Looper has a few plot flaws, but at least it aspires to be something more than a brain-dead sci-fi shoot-em-up.
Seven Samurai is one of my favorite movies. Gotta disagree about the characters. I think that while a few of them fade into the background, most are drawn pretty distinctly, even if the characterizations are admittedly a little broad.

You should try Super Meat Boy, from the same guy who made Isaac. Your definition of hardest will change once again.
I beat Super Meat Boy a couple months back. Took me for-fucking-ever to beat. That game is just as intense, but at least you have unlimited lives. Isaac is one-life perma-death.
And I thought they might be from the same guy! The art styles are familiar.
I got Harry Potter Page To Screen last year, and it is intense. The amount of research that went into that book is absurd.
Just beat Assassin's Creed 3. I have no idea what happened because I tuned out every time the story started, but sneaking around and killing people is still fun. I'm recently obsessed with The Binding of Isaac, maybe the hardest game I've ever played. It's one of the very few games where I can honestly say that practice and skill are required to succeed.
I watched Mike Birbiglia's Sleepwalk With Me on Netflix a week or two ago. I highly recommend it. It's very funny and very sweet. Birbiglia is essentially playing himself, reenacting events from his past, but he pulls it off without coming across as an egotist or being overly self-deprecating. He strikes a nice balance, and the final product is refreshingly honest. I'd listened to the standup act that the film is based on, so I knew all the jokes ahead of time, and the movie cuts a LOT, but I still enjoyed it quite a bit.
Sorry I've been AWOL the past few weeks. This just wasn't on my radar. However, starting tomorrow, I'm going to get a lot more unpause points posted, and then I would seriously like to start working on episode pages. I know there doesn't seem to be a hell of a lot of interest in this project, but dammit if I'm not going to get this thing done anyway.
I'm not an admin on the wiki, by the way. I'm not sure who has the authority to make me one (Holden, I assume), but I'd love to wield the banhammer on those spamming motherfuckers.
EDIT: Christ, there have been at least 500 spam edits just TODAY. This is gonna be a painful cleanup process.
Small party with friends, we played Cards Against Humanity and watched 30 Rock. Fun night.
Doctor Submarine wrote:Russell Crowe is the best performer by a long shot
You are high and you should feel high.
Only a little. That's an exaggeration, sure, but Crowe was my favorite actor. Hathaway comes second, but most of the time I felt like she was trying too damn hard for that Oscar.
I hated it. Tom Hooper butchered a great musical. It has a great cast, but that can't save it from atrocious direction. Hooper handcuffs his actors by shooting nearly the entire film in close up, and because they're singing live on set, most of the actors are too nervous to give the songs their proper energy. Russell Crowe is the best performer by a long shot because he's the most confident one on screen, even if he's not the strongest singer. The constant close ups struck me as really lazy.
I'd recommend checking out the Coraline soundtrack. It might not be what you're looking for, but I love it to death.
I've seen it thrice now, and I actually liked it less each time. I think the main problem boils down to the fact that there is not nearly as much of a focus on Bilbo as there should be. For a movie called The Hobbit, he sure gets lost in the shuffle once the journey begins. He barely does anything at all until Riddles in the Dark, and after that the movie wants to convince us that he's gone through some sort of character arc. It's totally unconvincing.
I started watching with Season 5, so Matt Smith will always be my Doctor. The David Tennant era always seemed really cheesy to me. However, my sister started watching the same time I did, and she's now more obsessed and knowledgeable than me, and her Doctor is Tennant.
Actually, I think Chronicle fits the bill. That movie has a lot more setup/payoff than I gave it credit for the first time around.
You know, I used to really like Basterds, but I watched it again last night and I have to agree with Dorkman. It's much too slow and plodding for most of its runtime. And Hans Landa is far less interesting the second time around. The whole time I was thinking, "Jesus Quentin, we get it, you like movies, can we tell a story now?" Never got that impression during Django.
I know it's controversial on this forum, but I'll throw out Looper.
FUCK YES this movie is awesome. Tarantino is in total control here. I was cheering by the end. Your thoughts?
Between this, Django Unchained, and The West Wing being added to Netflix Streaming, I think I can safely call this the best Christmas ever.
You were too late! He's been dead for twenty* years!
*two**
**not actually dead
My worst Christmas is the year we saw National Treasure 2. Nowhere near as good as the first!

I had no idea that Annapolis was located inside a rave.
Gentlemen, it's been an honor DiF-ing with you tonight.
Crank it, lean back, and let the boiling lava (or whatever) wash over you.
Here's the question: Was the 70's cartoon more serious than this version?
Does this answer your question?
Also, the "Blunt the Knives" song was one of the things I really liked about the new movie. Upbeat and really catchy. Also, only like a minute long.
This is adorable.
