I would love to listen to this commentary, guys, but the new Adobe flash update is causing your player to crash.  This is the fifth time I've restarted the track and had to sync it up to the movie.  THANKS ADOBE! Thanks, alot.

there's some method behind Apple wanting Flash to just die smile

I find the twilight stories very offensive for the reasons you pointed out, that as girl or a woman the most important thing about you is your virginity and who you decide to give that to.  Not to mention its incredibly sexist, making females out to be nothing if they don't have a man around, and men out to be sex objects.  I think that makes a bad movie.  It can't be okay despite of that.  I think those are legitimate reasons to call all of Twilight terrible.

Hmm... I'm usually willing to separate my disagreements with the morality being promoted from judgements of quality. I didn't stop reading the comic Cerebus  regularly when the author became a woman and gay hating religious nut, but when 'Ricks Story' just became bad. I don't have to agree with my entertainment, in other words smile I can understand you personally not wanting to watch a movie with those themes but they in themselves don't make it bad. Dealing with them badly, however...

I saw the movie before reading the book. I prefer (and love) the movie, actually. I had the same experience with KICK-ASS. I seem to like what Matthew Vaughn brings to the table.

I usually end up loving which ever version I encounter first, to the point where now I don't bother seeking out a story in other mediums. Although, the more time has passed between encounters the more I can give the "new" version a fair shake.

Normally you mention the movie and black out the spoiler part, but I guess this way works too smile

It wouldn't surprise me if Joss thought to some extent "Gee, what the fans are speculating about Book is so much better then what I had planned, it'll be cooler to just kill him and let them keep thinking that" smile

Fuckin' Armageddon commentary.

I still feel bad about that shit.

In all seriousness, given the pride you guys rightly have in this show there's nothing wrong with not releasing a commentary like that if it happens again. I don't remember if your buffer had run out and there was a time crunch or something, but we can go without an episode for a week, or you can release two the following weekend. Hell, if the time comes when some of you want to take a second stab at it pull the first from the site.

What the enhanced version of the podcast needs is captions to pop up saying things like "No, that's not right..." or "That's just the booze talking". You could just leave it up all the time for Armageddon smile

I never read that into it, but that could be why he ends up crashing- Luke knew he couldn't take a nap for the whole trip and was too tired smile

My understanding is the movies are better written then the books,so adding more original story would seem to be a good thing smile

It kind of amazes me that the Noah story has never been given the serious treatment that other biblical stuff was given in the 1950s and the Jesus story was given more recently. There was just a TV movie in 1999 (with Jon Voight!).

I think once Bill Cosby did his bit on it there became no way to take it seriously smile There was a Noah movie I saw as a kid in the late 70's, In Search of Noah's Ark, which probably also killed future projects.

You do it like this: animals cross the world on their own to come to Noah, helping to finish the ark after years of his being ridiculed.

What, no mention that he's a drunk?

Ah, a Twilight double header! It just so happens I'll have access to a fast connection and have the two films (with merged Rifftrax audio), so I'll be there smile

It hasn't even gotten a Rifftrax nor an iRiff. It's just... forgetable.

(although that does mean there's a market opening if anyone wants to jump on it)

Buffy was written so that the end of each season could be the end of the series. There are good and bad parts to that approach smile

Good as always. The audio was fine, although it's amusing that the low quality equals a huge file size. It's still not in the iTunes feed so I just downloaded it from the web site.

The Blake's 7 references were nice, as there is some things in common between the two shows. You have an evil Federation, and a small band of criminals resisting them. Of course, on Blake's 7 main characters drop like flies smile (If you haven't watched the show, do it. Incredible stuff)

Well, aren't you glad those idiots now identify themselves for you with their clothing choices?

I rented Lost in Space again to listen to the commentary, which as I mentioned in another thread is incredible. The writer and director (and probably the FX crew in the second commentary) go through what the hell happened, and almost all of it was due to choices set up way before filming started. A short list:

-the Jupiter 2 set was designed to be impossible to light and shoot in ("if there's a sequel, we're blowing it up 5 minutes in")

-the space suits all had batteries which died at different times, making for endless delays

-the special effects were divided up among lots of UK companies who didn't talk to one another and had never done something this big. Two days before the film was due they were cutting the negative to edit around major shots that weren't delivered.

-the monkey puppet looked like crap, as did the CGI replacement

and that's just half way through, and not counting all the story and tone changes done during the shooting and editing process smile Any other fun examples where they really should have thought things out better before starting to build sets, let alone film?

A movie is objectively bad when you and your friends hate it, subjectively bad when you're the only one who likes it smile

It may be he's like my Dad was- he prided himself on looking at both sides of an issue before coming to a conclusion, but then figured anyone who disagreed with him hadn't looked at both sides and thus could be ignored smile

And yet people like watching 3D movies. They shouldn't work... and yet they do.

The question is: how long will it take people to realize and get fed up?

Probably about as long as it takes for him to realize it's just not a problem for most people smile

Luckily, the movie will die at the box office because nobody will buy there being actual footage of us going to the moon smile
