Spooky, I had a chill of disappointment run down my spine for no apparent reason. And then I looked on here.

And now I am sad. I may not have earned it, but it was nice while it lasted. sad

Yesterday was my one year anniversary of joining the KrankyKraft minecraft server, so I did a quick informal tour of all of my builds over the last year.

"Interact with the film"? In 1999 I saw some highschoolers throwing eggs at the cinema screen (apparently they were forced to attend that screening by their teachers and decided to express their discontent this way). Back then, this kind of behavior was considered outrageous (the incident caused quite a hubbub in our local media). Nowadays, Disney would probably consider it just another way of "interacting with the film" big_smile

Seriously? You equate throwing eggs at and possibly damaging a movie screen with kids sitting in the audience singing along to a Disney movie while their Ipad shows them the lyrics with a little bounding ball to guide them?

I'll grant you the screens might be a little annoying, but let's have a little perspective shall we.

Well, the movie skekses are puppeteered muppet-style, with the sets built about 6 feet off the ground. So the hunch in their backs isn't nearly as exaggerated as it is here, since the cosplayer has to fit in the costume without the benefit of a recessed floor. Clever way around the problem though, and a nice costume regardless.

Alright, that makes sense. I figured it would be one or the other.

Like I said, I haven't seen the movie, so my memory of what the Skeksis look like is limited at best.

I ran across this the other day. It's a cosplay for a Skeksis done as a full worn costume, and it's pretty badass.

I imagine the actual Henson ones were done similarly.

There's also Strings, which I've heard of but never seen.

Trey, I was hoping not to have to use this line on you but... "Those aren't puppets, those are marionettes" smile

That's strange. The only thing I can think of is that you're connecting to an auto lens, and the lens is just cranking the stops all the way up when it doesn't recognize that it's attached to a camera. But that doesn't make any sense.

Maybe it's a lens that requires power...?

Cause yeah, I don't have any issue when I'm using my tube with my old nikons.

Here's a fun twist: Alex Billington has previously been in movie blog news for live-tweeting during a theatrical screening of CRANK 2.

If I'm reading this correctly, this guy was joining a bunch of comedians who were ALSO live tweeting during the entire show, and the only reason it's such a world ending travesty that Alex was doing it is because he's a film critic not a comedian? So they proceed to single this guy out and tear him to SHREDS, but not even a single word for the comedians who were also live tweeting through the entire thing??

Um....WTF???

Alright, cool.

Well as far as the 2 bits I can throw in, if you can set your lens manually or have a manual lens, I would say look into getting an extension tube. They're like 15-20 bucks and you can do some really cool macro stuff without losing all that light. But I have a feeling if yours is a kit lens, it's all auto, so that's probably a no go.

Pretty pictures though big_smile

Miracle Of Sound (Youtube channel)

I found this guy a couple days ago and absolutely love his stuff. primarily he does original songs based on video games (and a couple movies), but they aren't the usual style of "Cram as many references as possible into a song cuz lol it's fandomy", they're actual good songs that happen to be about such n' such.

I haven't listened to all of them yet, cause there's a lot. But some are amazing (\/), some are so-so and some are kinda hit or miss depending on how you feel about the game in question.

My favorites are:

and this one's kinda alright-ish, but Portal 2, so it's included.

There's a ton on there for games and stuff I just don't care about, so definitely check out the channel if you're curious.

I'm in. Voice acting or graphics.

I was forcibly willing myself to ignore that, but yeah, I hate that shit. It's ridiculous.

Watch the back bottom edge of the helmet as it starts to unfold until about the 3rd layer is up, it's really floaty, once the helmet is pretty much all the way built and he starts to turn it's alright though.

And yes, I do realize I'm talking about tracking from 94, but I can't help it, it bugs me.

http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs29/f/2008/055/c/8/Stargate_by_LeFurieuxRoidesmers.gif

I really want to be impressed, but I can't stop looking at that tracking. It's just painful.

It wasn't the tone, it was never the tone, I actually really liked the idea of a Stargate series with a more BSG feel. (Which is what it was always sold as)

It was the fact the show had absolutely zero fucking clue what it was, who it was, what the hell it wanted to do. I swear, watching Universe trying to tell a story was like watching a drunk giant baby wander around new york bumping into buildings and setting off giant domino chains of shattered glass and dreams.

After like 6 or 7 episodes of watching them go around in the same little circle, I said screw it and stopped. And I never heard a single word from anywhere that said I should ever go back. So I didn't.

Although, if they reboot anything Stargate...or anything really, more Robert Carlyle being scruffy and sarcastic, oh gods yes. Robert Carlyle being scruffy and sarcastic for everyone, everywhere. Tasty.
