I think I learn more from Trey than I do at University.

From what I understand, that would be difficult to do without some sort of union.
Of course I know next to nothing on the whole affair, but for what it's worth, I'm rooting for you guys.

I decided to start fooling around in Photoshop a bit more, and being a bit of a space nerd, I decided to try my hand at making a galaxy. It's not very good, but hey.

Star Trek Into Darkness
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
Iron Man 3
Elysium
The Hangover Part III (I know, I'm sorry.)

World of Warcraft (just started raiding again), the odd Starcraft 2 match and a dash of League of Legends.

@Owen Mass Effect 2 is the bomb. I never really understood the uproar over the ending of ME3, I thought it was fine.

I just saw it in 3D HFR. The 3D was too distracting for my taste, but the HFR didn't bother me. One of the benefits of being an avid gamer I suppose. As for the movie itself...I didn't like it. It felt too cartoony to me. How am I supposed to believe this is the same world as LOTR with dwarves bouncing around stone tunnels and sliding down cliffs on bridges. Same goes for the goblins. I was hoping they would look similar (if not the same) to the goblins we see in Moria. Instead, we get a horde of furless gremlins led by King Goitre. Where's the sense of danger? And alas, Radagast. I object to the depiction of his character entirely. There's a difference between being a little silly and entirely ridiculous, and I think Jackson trod way more on the ridiculous side for The Hobbit. Rabbits pulling sleighs? (at high speeds...on grass ffs)  That's something I'd expect in Alice in Wonderland, not Middle Earth.

In my opinion, the biggest detriment of the movie (and possibly the trilogy as a whole, but I won't get ahead of myself,) was Jackson's decision to make 3 movies. I'm assuming this is the reasoning behind the implementation of the (almost) entire Azog storyline, the elongated action sequences, Radagast etc etc. I wish he would've remained more faithful to the book, but I don't think that's possible if you split The Hobbit into 3 parts. There's just too much nothing between the exciting bits, and the exciting bits are too long.

Despite all this, there were a few things I liked. I think Martin Freeman did a decent job as Bilbo, although it felt like he was channelling a bit too much  Dr. Watson. Most of the props looked great (almost like this took place in Middle Earth.) The only other thing that felt like LOTR was the score (probably because they reused quite a few of the themes), with the Misty Mountain theme standing out. Riddles in the Dark was well done too.

In summary: too cartoony, too childish, too boring and too long. I was hoping for a journey back to Middle Earth and what I got was not even close.

I meant to put nitpicks, edited original post. I agree with most of your rationales, and I made the exact same assumptions when I watched the movie. Not sure if I'll be much help explaining them, but I'll take a look.

Just to clarify, I love the Dark Knight too. In fact, I'd say I like it maybe a tad more than TDKR. The nitpicks in the movie, with the exception of the bullet/fingerprint reconstruction, don't bother me. Just like a lot of the nitpicks in TDKR don't bother me. That being said, they do exist. Here's a few.
1.) How did the Joker plan the gap in the buses when he drove away from the bank? There just happened to be a perfect gap?
2.) Why didn't the mob security guard just spit out the grenade? We don't see Joker secure it in his mouth.
3.) How did Harvey and Rachel end up in their respective barrel rooms? Yes, we see Harvey get driven away by the cop he kills later, but the cop claims " I didn't know what they were going to do to you." So where did he take him? As for Rachel, one minute she's leaving the penthouse, next minute she's tied to a chair surrounded by barrels.
4.) Bruce seems to rely almost entirely on Mr. Fox for technology development and implementation. So then how was he able to singlehandedly use and upgrade the sonar gobbledegook without him?
5.) The whole "Jim Gordon faking his death so Joker will try and capture Harvey" plan. Here's a quote from another website:

"If I understand it correctly, Gordon faked his own death (even though it?s edited to make it look like he got shot for real) to protect his family. Batman then decides to announce who he is but Dent takes his place. The Joker intercepts the Dent convoy but is himself intercepted by Batman. Carnage ensues including the destruction of large parts of the Gotham road system and various buildings and, seemingly by fortune, Batman, the Joker and, the driver of the convoy who is, of course, Gordon, reach a point at which the Joker is captured. Unfortunately for them that’s what he wanted all along."

I guess that's it for me. I'm not going to get into the Harvey Dent legal nitpicks, I'm not a lawyer and that seems like a step into the ridiculous. If there's some points in the movie that explain these nitpicks that I just missed, please point them out.

Dark Knight has nitpicks too. People just seem to ignore them or say they are inconsequential because of Joker. Dark Knight wasn't held under the same scrutiny that TDKR was.

I liked The Grey, but does it really fall under the category of Perfect Movie?
As for me, the movies I liked the most this year are Hunger Games, TDKR and Avengers. The first half of Looper was great, but it threw me off the train once it reached the farmhouse and I was never able to get on again.
