Well, Nicolas Cage is the Hulk in real life, so I think he's kinda locked into the hero role for the time being.

The problem with calling people arrogant is that it's difficult to do so and not come off as arrogant yourself.
Which is why I decided not to take a potshot at his reference to "They Abyss".
However, I will say that the first person to do a They Live/The Abyss mashup poster with that title deserves all of the user karma available.
Oooooooh. So shiny.
Congrats on 3 amazing years, guys. I can't wait to see what comes next!
Lawrence is great in Hunger Games. She owns every single scene she's in (and that's most of the movie).
Thought it was better than the book.
I assume there's a list of films that they have agreed never to show on their floating theater. Jaws is probably #1.
For anyone interested, I wrote a detailed outline/brief treatment that I think would work for a ninth Harry Potter movie.
Harry Potter and the Temblor Bell (PDF)
Note: I've broken it down the same way I broke down all the Potter movies for study (5 minute chunks); if my estimates are accurate, it clocks in at 145 minutes.
I...I...
Yes. I would absolutely watch that movie.
I think the one on the right is cooler. The one on the left is too swoopy, its curves look stupid.
We used to get movies like Patriot, movies that portray American values. Not we get things like Avatar, where the government, or businesses are corrupt and the (For lack of a better term) "barbarians" are the good guys.
Well, the "government and big business as antagonists" ideal isn't exactly new. Aliens did the same thing a few decades ago. I think there's a nice balance of Transformers-style and District 9-style stuff every year. I don't think we need any more or less of each side.
Also, IIRC, Act of Valor began life as a Navy SEALs recruiting film. No joke. It is literally propaganda.
I've never played the piano before, but I'm using the tutorials to try and learn some of these great songs. Thanks for taking the time to do those.
My friends are going to hate me for how much I share this. Well done, Teague. It's great.
I think the Citizen Kane slow clap is implied in all these posts. Congratulations!
Whoa! CT high-five!
That's really weird. It isn't my adblock or anything.
Huh. Google Chrome doesn't display the rings next to the usernames.
Throw in Obama on a skateboard with some sunglasses and I'd hang that on my wall.
Well, that was 13 hours of fucking insanity. But we got three fantastic commentaries out of it, and I had a great time. Well done!
I've also heard the explanation that the Eagles just don't really want to get mixed up in the war. They help Gandalf out because he's their buddy, and they show up to help again when all hope seems lost for the good guys because...they're nice, I guess? But they never wanted to explicitly fight for one side or the other. Not sure how much sense that actually makes, but that's what I've been told.
The Tom Bombadil Wikipedia page is creepily extensive.
Shit has never gotten so real.
I'm going to try and do the whole thing with you guys as a show of solidarity. You'll have my axe, I suppose.
Get it? Ha. HA.

Yes, you read that link right. The Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs guys are doing the Lego movie. Hit the link for more details. This sounds like a terrible, awful idea, but I have faith in those two. They describe the tone as "if Michael Bay kidnapped Henry Selick to do a movie for him." They also made it clear that it will not be just a Lego commercial, rather it will use Legos as more of a visual storytelling-type thing. Hey, I love Cloudy, and I've been hearing nothing but great things about their 21 Jump Street film. This might be one toy-based film that's worth watching.
Also, if you look at the title card of the movie it kinda tells you what's up. On the left it says "Source Code". Then it gets underlined. The line, on the far right of the frame, forks off into two lines. I didn't even notice that the first time I watched it.
The first time I noticed it, I figured that they were just doing a "train tracks" thing, but that's a lot cooler, and it actually makes me appreciate the movie more.
I second Jeffery's recommendation. House of Leaves is crazy good. It's like no other book I've ever read.
TONS, at the moment.
- A Clash of Kings, by George R.R. Martin
- The Demon-Haunted World by Carl Sagan
- The Stranger by Albert Camus
- The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson

This is either the first clip from Ridley Scott's "Prometheus", or the beginning of a viral marketing campaign for it. Either way, it's very cool and it has Guy Pearce.
