I'm doing a DIY Zoidberg costume. It's 80% duct tape, just like all my costumes.

I live on the East Coast, where we are currently experiencing an inexplicable blizzard, and we've evacuated our house, so I'll be watching this show from the safety of a hotel room. It'll be like an adventure!

I see. Another "fix-it" weekend, like the Lost World/Temple of Doom double-feature. How exciting!

He's a pimp if there ever was one. Three cheers!

Unfortunately, unlike Master and Commander (as far as I know), Ember was based on an enormously popular young adult novel. The contract for the studio included an option for an adaptation of the sequel book. They had to do Ember first.

That movie also really suffers from Terminator 3 syndrome. I feel like that entire movie is a first act, and I want to see the story of them exploring the surface instead.

At which point the director says, "If you had gone to see the film, they would have let me adapt the sequel!" I think that that's an example where it's legitimate to claim, "I had to because that's what's in the book!"

In the novel that City of Ember is based on, the city only has enough supplies to last 200 years, so that's when they set the box to open. They don't want people trying to get out and dying. It makes only slightly more sense.

Turns out, Spielberg didn't like a lot of aspects of Crystal Skull's story. But he kept with it because Lucas was his buddy. Even though he didn't believe in the story, he made the movie to make George happy.

What a nice guy.

King understands his own work, but his problem is that he never bothers to make tweaks to it for cinematic purposes. Just look at The Stand, which is very slow and very boring. King is too attached to his material to make those important cuts.

Reboot the Dollars Trilogy. Shoot them back-to-back and release them within a year of each other. Make them "event" movies. Cast Hollywood's biggest badass to star and get the Coens to direct (after True Grit, I have faith that they can do remakes of Westerns).

Well, what sort of perspective do you want us to offer? And I'd be happy to, by the way.

If you do end up doing that, will you stick to the information that Cameron's given out already (it takes place in the ocean, there are other planets, etc.)?

Doctor Submarine, shockingly, is neither. In fact, he doesn't really remember where the name came from, only that it appeared scrawled on his wall one morning many years ago alongside scorch marks and the smell of hatred.

He got hooked on DiF after a Twitter post by a strange man named cinebo, who was raving about the podcast. So he downloaded the most recent episode of the time and gave it a whirl. Who said nothing good came out of Transformers 2?

Doctor Submarine's avatar was chosen because it was deemed to be the closest representation of his physical form. Though the shade of orange is a wee bit off.

He's so tired that he didn't notice that he wrote this entire post in the third-person until now. And he's too lazy to go back and change it. He also owns a guitar that he doesn't know how to play.

His worst injury involves an enormous grill and a horseshoe. Don't ask. Or do, it's a funny story.

The twelfth DVD from the left in his collection (on shelf one) is Constantine. On shelf two, it's Monster House. Make of that what you will.

The hedge animals, by the way, could totally work cinematically and be terrifying if they were done like in the novel, where they don't move when you're looking and the camera keeps cutting back to them in different, ever approaching positions. Unfortunately, as I recall, the miniseries went the route of "They don't move when the characters are looking, but the camera doesn't count," so you get shots of CG hedge lions stalking around when the characters' backs are turned.

I don't remember if someone said it in the episode, but Doctor Who gets that right with the Weeping Angels. Very creepy, very effective.

Even creepier, part of the mythology is that the Angels are like Boggarts. No one's ever seen them as they really are, so no one knows what they really look like. It lets the imagination run wild.

Except when they did that episode where you saw them moving, enhanced with CGI. But we can just forget that bit.

There are shots that, specifically for scenes moving in and out of the Colorado room, make me feel ill. Intentional or not would you say?

I'm never one to jump to, "It's totally because the director was a genius!" but I do think that Kubrick put thought into that sort of thing. Especially if it made you feel ill.

I haven't seen Time Bandits in a long time. I liked it then because, well, it was a wacky and yet somewhat mature kids movie, which I'm still a sucker for. It's one I need to revisit, especially since I was barely aware of who Terry Gilliam was at the time.

That could be the sequel to "How We Make Movies". "How You Should NOT Make Movies". Just take all the points left out of that episode and turn them into negatives.

Also, maybe "Worst Pitch for a Great Movie". What are some movies that have awful premises but are actually great?

"A musical based on an off-Broadway production based on a decades-old, awful Roger Corman film that involves a giant singing plant and a hero who commits multiple murders? Get the hell out of my office!"

I've started to add notes to myself about subtext when things get too obvious, so that writing things like, "You are so afraid of ______ that you are willing to _______!" feel okay for the moment.
