I only said stop at s3 as the whole High School arc ends there and everything is nicely wrapped up. I was establishing a get out point for Trey as he said he didn't have time to watch all 7 seasons. I think the first 3 are fine for this. As dull and uneven certain seasons occasionally become (s4 and s6, mostly) I still love the hell out of the show.
I'd at least watch the pilot (Welcome to the Hellmouth/The Harvest) and Prophecy Girl. More stuff will make sense after that (what happens in Prophecy Girl is mentioned a lot, especially concerning the arrival of a certain person in s2 and another certain person in s3 )

This is for Trey- If you want to, and I mean want to watch Buffy, you can watch the first 3 seasons then stop. There's no real need to carry on after that if you don't want to (though season 5 is awesome and features one of the bravest pieces of television ever). But the first 3 seasons (56 eps) will do.
Has anyone read the Serenity one-shot comic about Wash, written by Patton Oswalt? Now there's a combination

I have no interest whatsoever in 3D. I have seen a couple of films in 3D but only because it was the only way to see them at the time (cinema didn't offer a 2D alternative). I personally don't see the point in it but others like it, so fair enough
