I've heard the phantom quack is actually the removal of the quack with a clone-stampable portion of audio, and the edit into and out of that patch is a little wonky. So it's not a quack, but there's a distinctive blip right where the quack should be.

Wait, lemme see if I have this straight.

Zarban writes "Lovesick Puppy Hump."

Teague covers "Lovesick Puppy Hump," but changes the music substantially, keeping only the lyrics and the title. We call this "Lovesick Puppy Hump 2." Teague pays the mechanical license, and a small portion of his profits to Zarban, but keeps the rest.

Paul covers "Lovesick Puppy Hump 2," does not have to pay the mechanical license, does not have to pay Zarban, and does not have to pay Teague?

That doesn't sound right...

Favorite? Bed, followed by shower. Location of best? Park. Location of weirdest? Roof.

Location of worst? Beach. I hate sand. It's rough and coarse and irritating. And it gets everywhere.

You have been weirded out before. You have been weirded out repeatedly. When you were the most weirded out, what was weirding you out?

It's been a while since we've done wacky theme threads. Reply with your answer, and a new obscure personal question for the next replyer.

What happened with the first person you ever confessed a crush to, or asked out.

I'm afraid to even see it, at this point. I was excited five years ago, but the more I hear about it recently, the more I'm worried I'll hate the movie. And I know a lot of people who worked on that movie.

I don't wanna have to shit on it on the internet.  sad

I live my life in terms of what life lesson has just suddenly started making sense to me. This past couple of months is the first time one of those lessons wasn't already a platitude.

You're dead right that you'll never be the first at something, but you can damn well be somebody's favorite something.

I have nine acapella acts that I follow. Though Zarban, I know many film commentary podcasts. I can name fifteen movie critics. I can personally name the top four live-loop performance artists on the planet.

Of all of them, I have only one favorite for each. And it has nothing to do with originality. It has to do with execution. Make something that feels significantly true to you. Don't worry about folks who know as much about Subject X as you do, worry about your reaction to it, and about the folks who have never seen anything like it before. Do you think the Wachowskis give a shit about folks saying Dark City carried many of the same themes?

Do it well. Perfect what exists. Damn the torpedoes. You might not be Orson Welles, but you can certainly be Steven Spielberg.

This is awesome. As someone with no knowledge of comic anything, even web comics, that's really all I have to offer.

I don't know how Russians and Polish people can tell insane movies from normal ones based on their posters.

Also, this is amazing. Never seen this one before.

Let's discuss spoilers.

1. How long until the spoiler moves into spoiler-public-domain and you don't have to be hush hush about it?
1A. What about for TV shows? "This is 40" notoriously spoiled the ending of LOST only two and a half years after LOST concluded.

2. Is saying "there's a huge twist at the end" a spoiler?

3. In discussion of a movie with spoilers, with someone who has not seen it, how far do you let yourself go when giving them the pitch?

4. Have you ever had to spoil something just to get someone to watch it?

5. Have you ever accidentally spoiled something?

6. When were you worst-spoiled?

We don't have to stick to the poll format here, I'm just throwing out some useful conversation starters.
