Found out that the DVD/Blu-ray release for the complete seventh series of Doctor Who will be available on 9/24, which is the week after "The Ice Warriors" and "Scream of the Shalka".

All with the 13 episodes, BOTH Christmas specials (The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe and The Snowmen).  Prequels, entire Pond Life mini series & related stuff from The Nerdist will be a part of the specials features.  Commentaries will also included but currently there's no word how many will be but it's unlikely to be for every episode.

Link below is what the box set will look like.

There's been a rumor that a large amount of previously lost classic Doctor Who episodes have been discovered recently.  Nothing has been confirmed but would be something if it turns out to be true.

A good Doctor & male companion pairing was the 2nd Doctor & Jamie.  They were together in all but 1 story of Troughton's run.

I think I'm in the majority in saying that it's sad that Matt Smith is ending his role as the Doctor.  He's 30 years old & I guess he wants to do other things in acting while he's still relatively young.  When it comes to him leaving, I've got an idea.

Have it at the end of his last episode start to regenerate but hold off until the start of the upcoming season, series 8, to "officially" show the person that's going to take over.  Will get people talking about how they plan on doing with the "new guy".

For collectors of the classic era of Doctor Who, it's be revealed that some of the stories are going to be out of print and being no longer being sold in the US.  Whether that means they'll be getting the "special edition" treatment at a later time is unknown.  Listed below are which stories are going to be affected and for which Doctor.

1st Doctor (WILLIAM HARTNELL)
The Rescue / The Romans
The Web Planet
The Time Meddler
The Gunfighters

2nd Doctor (PATRICK TROUGHTON)
The Invasion
The War Games

3rd Doctor (JON PERTWEE)
Terror of the Autons
The Time Monster
Planet of the Spiders

4th Doctor (TOM BAKER)
None

5th Doctor (PETER DAVISON)
Black Orchid
Time-Flight
The Awakening
Frontos
Planet of Fire

6th Doctor (COLIN BAKER)
The Mark of the Rani
The Two Doctors

7th Doctor (SYLVESTER McCOY)
Battlefield
Ghost Light
The Curse of Fenric

Also includes the originals of the upcoming special editions for:
Inferno
The Green Death
The Visitation.

So what are your guys' thoughts about this? Also, is there any DVDs that you hope to get quickly since they'll be gone in the upcoming future?

For those who have been watching the Doctor Who Revisited, it’s been announced that the edition for the 5th Doctor will be out May 26th.  The story that’ll be done for it will be “Earthshock”.  Thoughts about that choice of story?

Much like with the Back to the Future commentary episode, we weren't expecting this to be done but is really appreciated.  You guys at DiF didn't have to do this but you went ahead & did it anyway.  It's reasons like this that has us be fans.  Thank you.   tongue

Liked the new design of the TARDIS.  Had no problem with the previous two but I like that they apparently gotten away of having "random stuff" being the things to operate it

The Clara plot does make me curious on how it'll be played out.  Kind of hoping that the remainer of Series 7 will just be The Doctor & her.  No need to have River Song involved.  Honestly, while I enjoyed her, I feel that her character has run its course.

Well, if you really wanted to you could just post up this week's release extra early & put out Cabin in the Woods on Halloween.  If not I'm okay with waiting but you better be the next thing you put out on the website when you can.

The thing I'm going to take from this commentary is the fun that came from the whole "moon naming game" that went on within the chat.

Got finished watching the mid/winner finale & have to say that I really enjoyed it.  The way that both Amy & Rory extied the series  was handled well.  It's sad that they're gone but they couldn't have a better swang song.

Now we have to wait until the Christmas special.

Found this video by the BBC & it makes me more eager to see the upcoming episode.

One thing to keep in mind is that this was the last episode that Karen Gilan & Arthur Darvill's filmed.  When they did the scene where the 3 of them entered the TARDIS & closed the door they hugged each other & cried.  In a way Power of Three was a prelude to the upcoming episode.

Yeah, so do I, but I couldn't resist big_smile

I prefer Freddy vs Jason to Jason X.

There wasn't a "bad" Friday the 13th movie for me, but will admit that the 5th film is close.  Favorites from that series are the 1st 4, 6, 9 (mainly for the commentary) & 2009 reboot.  Still say that if 1 of the movies are done for DiF, I say do the very 1st before any others.

Can we really forget about the original black & white version of Night of the Living Dead?

1st 2 Pet Sematarys would be nice to do.  There are of course the 1st movies in the Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street and Halloween series.  Even add the 1st Child's Play & Texas Chainsaw Massacre if you want.

For more "recent" movies, Paranormal Acitivty or Blair Witch Project would be interesting and you could talk about the whole "found footage" affects the horror genre.

Agree that IT should be be heavily considered as it was a movie that freaked me out when I was younger & is still worth checking out.

Other movies that I would like to suggest are "American Werewolf in Londown", "Scream", "The Howling" & "Maximum Overdrive"

Finished seeing the 2nd to last episode of this block of Doctor Who episodes and got to say that "The Power of Three" was a great way to set up for what's to come in the mid season finale.  It focused a good deal on Amy and Rory which I had no problem with as they don't always have to have The Doctor the absolute center of the episode.  Definite something to check out.

Oh, not in-show, just by fans and such. And hey, I wouldn't be surprised if they start setting that up now. The Valeyard was supposed to be in between his 12th and 13th resurrections, right?

It was said in the final story of the "Trial of a Time Lord" season with the 6th Doctor.  I agree that it would be interesting if they started to touch upon that.

Saw third episode “A Town Called Mercy” and again it was a good one.  Didn’t have that whole ‘planet in jeopardy’ feel as it was just like the title says, a town.  One thing I particularly liked was that they showed that apparently this version of The Doctor is perhaps beginning to lose giving mercy and how having a companion(s) help keep him from going too far.

Dinosuars on a Spaceship was a good 2nd episode.  Liked that they're hinting more of the upcoming departure of the Ponds.  Having Rory's dad being involved was okay as well.

The dinosuars was done good and didn't take away from the story/characters.  Don't sure how much weight my opinion holds since I actually liked the story "Invasion of the Dinosuars".

As for the complaint about The Doctor letting the guy die in the end, I have no real problem as it's not the 1st time he's done something like that.  Look at the end of 4th Doctor's "Ribos Opperation".

Did good to continuing the series & I hope things remain that way.

Didn't get into Breaking Bad until after season 4 was done but decided to go ahead & watch the 1stseason to see if it was worth checking out.  After season the 1st season I decided that it was worth it so I got all 4 seasons on DVD & did a marathon watch.  1 thing I like is that the show doesn't try to go for the "happy ending" to particular storylines & try to keep this as real as possible.

Sadly before season 5 was to start Dish Network went ahead & removed AMC, so I had to watch the new episodes by other means.  Got to say that the 1st half was done & sent up for the end of the series.  The cliffhanger was a good way to make the viewers even more eager for the final half to come out.  Can't wait to see how they plan on a show that I've come to enjoy but I'll be watching as it happens.

The Daleks... aren't what they used to be, I agree smile As with any old enemy, you have to try extra hard to do something good and new, and for you new viewers that might not work. Maybe it's time to bring back Davros...

Don't think Davros is really needed.  Not let anyway.  For the most part the stories that had the Daleks were entertaining to see.  However there were exceptions, "Daleks in Manhatten" and "Evolution of the Daleks" for example.  At the most they should kept it no more than 1 Dalek focused story per series.

Honestly, I liked that they were basically not in the previous 1 except that small cameo in the final episode.  Bring back some of the past enemies like Ice Warriors or Zygons.

Got to see "Assylum of the Daleks" and got to say that it was a good opener.  Not my all time favorite opener but it's up there & it was a good Dalek story when compared to the ones in the past.

With only a few episodes left, the three main actors continued to do good work together .

As I posted earlier in the forum, I wanted my sister to watch a story with each of the "classic era" Doctor but something has changed.  After just seeing the 1st ever story "An Unearthly Child" my sister has become hoooked & wants to watch all the other DVDs I have  so she's going through them in order.  While that's good I know that it's going to take her a LONG time to watch everything.  Here's hoping that she survives.

I've been out of the loop on the DVD's for quite some time now, so I have no idea what they include. I'm hoping for season boxsets (Key to Time & Trial of a Time Lord don't count tongue), so hopefully one day I'll be able to own them all.

Speaking of DVD extras, this is by far my favourite:

It's very unlikely that they'll be box sets for past series from the classic era.  Wouldn't allow them to get as much money if they went away from the usual individual releases.

For extras on a DVD that make it worth getting even if the story isn't that good, the features:
The Gunfighters - "End of the Line" [talks about the final year of William Hartnell's run as the Doctor]
The Krontos - "Second Time Around" [a retrospective look at Patrick Troughton's sting]
Resurrection of the Daleks Special Edition - "Come in Number Five" [retrospective on the 5th Doctor]
Trial of a Time Lord: The Ultimate Foe - "Trial and Tribulations" [another retrospective on the troubled run of Colin Baker's Doctor]

There are others but those are 1s that really come to mind.
