Added some lightsabers to a cool shot from the latest Game of Thrones.
Forgot just how taxing roto can be. Glad I didn't attempt the whole fight... yet.

It was definitely in character and was absolutely inevitable, but nonetheless, it just adds to how much I dislike his character and find his storyline tiresome. Davos is great, but Davos isn't around Stannis anymore (books or show at this point).
I'm sure he still has some important role to play (though hopefully not as AA), but I just can't root for him at all.
This is one of my favorite episodes ever. The very definition of "Friends in Your Head". Just you guys being silly and meandering about whilst some random silly film plays in the background. This should happen more often. You should pick films that none of you have seen. Well, I guess, BAD film none of you have seen.
Next up: Gigli!
I don't think I'll be able to watch the LCC judging this year.
Stunned by this news. He'll definitely be in my thoughts.
Ever since his episode of Party Down, I've had a great respect for the Gutt.
You guys need to live-stream this as it airs.
I didn't hear you correct it during the commentary, but the Immaculate Conception refers to the Virgin Mary being conceived without original sin, thus allowing her to be the only person capable of later carrying the son of God.
I mean, I GUESS the baby in Bethany's womb might be without original sin, but I don't believe that was explicitly said.
The World's End is a weird one. I only saw it in theaters and I remember telling myself that I liked it. But months later, I think I was just telling myself that because it was SUPPOSED to be so good. But basically, it was just really sad and not very funny. I think Pegg put in a great performance, but it was really depressing and I never liked him. I always have issues with movies where I never root for anyone.
This is one of the most somber episodes I've heard from you lot. Not a criticism, just a note as I usually have these on while working and I couldn't help but notice that it was not the lively conversation I'm used to.
That aside, it is interesting to hear your criticisms and comments on this film as the most I usually get out of people is "It's a masterpiece. The end."
While I LOVE this movie, I really cannot recommend the director's cut. It is overly-bloated and the editing is sloppy. Some of the best jokes from the theatrical version fall completely flat because they let the scenes run too long.
Regardless, the theatrical cut is one of my all time favorites.
Non-Diagetic Sound
Though that sounds more like what I would have called a punk band in college.
Very entertaining Podcast. Made me wonder, does anyone know of any music-oriented Podcasts that include things like the random improv stuff that was in this episode? If not... dude, Teague, make it happen. I think it would make for a really interesting podcast.
Prof. X isn't a telekinetic.
That is all.
(I still have 20 minutes to go on this, so if you do eventually correct this, I apologize.)
My biggest one with all of my film friends is my universal distaste for all things PTA. I can take Magnolia up to a point, but I have not liked a single other film of his. I find myself so BORED with them, and that is the worst offense a movie can make for me. There Will Be Blood is right up there with Mulholland Drive as one of the most mind-numbing experiences I've had. Yeah, I get it, DDL is a master of his craft... but the that doesn't make the source material interesting.
There was a strange thing about this episode... I kept getting the feeling that you guys aren't really enjoying recording these as much anymore and are now doing it "for the fans." I mean, I get that recording these take up a lot of time and I get that it "isn't your job," but I also don't understand why you feel an obligation to continue it if you don't want to. I have listened to each any every one of the episodes, but if you took a week off, took a month off, or changed the episode format entirely (which appears to be what is happening anyways), I wouldn't be upset. I like listening to podcasts because the people recording them want to do it..
I loved the movie. Every kid says, "If I had telekinesis, I would..." and this was one of the first movies to really payoff that conversation. The ending was over the top, but I wanted it to be and I'm glad it was.
Also, this really made me think just how awesome Anakin Skywalker's turn could have been.
Dean, what was the original ending?
Casablanca was one of those films I just never got around to. Then they did a showing at the Paramount Theater in Oakland. They served gin and tonics and the atmosphere was amazing. I was astounded at how well the film held up. The dialog still feels fresh and witty as hell.
I've watched a lot of classic films, but Casablanca is one of the few I feel could still be shown to modern audiences without prefacing it with "Well, for its time..."
One of my favorite films... this should be interesting.
Wait... there are people who think that's ACTUALLY a good speech? I love the hell out of it for being so beyond absurd and cheesy.
You know what I would like? Volume control.
Listening to this... someone's chewing is quite prevalent throughout.
Really? Hmm. I'd LOVE to hear their breakdown of Uncle Buck or Planes Trains and Automobiles.
As you know, their commentaries don't focus on the movie itself all that often. Something happens in the movie and they go off on a topic. With John Candy, there is a LOT to go off on. His performances (with John Hughes writing) are worth a lot of discussion.
I would say the only true "comedies" of those are Orgazmo and Team America.
I mean full on comedies. John Candy movies, new ones like the Apatow flicks, Harold and Kumar, things like that.
I think there is a lot to say about good comedies.
Would love to hear your take on the first Ninja Turtles.
And at some point you guys need to try some comedies.
The good thing is that, unlike a book-to-movie adaptation, even if the movie sucks, I can still watch the awesomeness that is the show. The fights are excellently produced in the cartoon, and while I would love for them to be done justice in live-action, if they don't it really isn't that big of a deal.
