Re: Star Trek Into Darkness

Alright gotta admit. I'm starting to get pretty pumped up for this thing.

Re: Star Trek Into Darkness

I'm hearing disturbing rumours of this movie being Prometheus-level stupid. Adjusting expectations accordingly.

No spoilers. Also, I think we need to have a "Goddamnit Lindelof!" GIF as one of the standard gifs on the forum

Re: Star Trek Into Darkness

I think I'll hold off on commenting for a month until I see what the new one turned out like. I don't necessarily object to a more action-packed approach, I just wish they'd do it in the context of something that felt fresher. Right now it looks like Nemesis, the reboot, and now this one are all trying to be the exact same thing.

Have them fight The Borg, or at least some kind of unique enemy (a non-humanoid race might be a start), you have a universe at your disposal, there are lots of possibilities.

Honestly I would love to see a hard R, just full out go fucking nuts with the borg. Cause there's some reeeally fun stuff you could do with them if you didn't have to keep it pg-13 (Or whatever TNG/VOY had to be). But alas, it'll never happen.

It's getting some great reviews over here from the likes of Empire and Total Film. Some of the newspapers too smile

Re: Star Trek Into Darkness

Honestly, and i wish I could discuss this more, the negative responses I have read all seem to hang on the villain, which I noticed in the Trek 09 one as well. I mentioned it before, but I guess I'll say it again, if you don't respond to the villain, you won't like the movie, at least it seems to me...
