Iron man was great
Iron man 2 was the most disappointing thing of 2010. It had so much damn potential and they screwed it up as much as they got the first one right.
People that hear this complaint from me say "they were showing that they were going to do the avengers". Thats fine if its a very little here or there but IM2 was basically punching you in the face that they were going to make it.
But Yes Iron man = Win
Good work! I'm about half-way thru. I like Iron Man quite a bit (not as much as Jake...), and I like Iron Man 2 enough. I don't get the hate.
But then, I don't get the hate for Spider-Man or X-Men 3. Or the love for Superman: The Movie. There are parts of Superman I like, but it's mostly really clunky and has one of the worst endings of any movie ever.
Stan Lee is supposed to actually be Hef. Remember that in Iron Man 2 he plays Larry King.

I enjoyed Iron Man 2 a great deal. I never understood the hate for that. But then again I love Spider Man 2.
I also enjoyed Iron man2, was it as good as Iron man? hells no, but it was enjoyable enough for a superhero movie. And I have very little love for Spiderman in general.
I want to make clear I am not a fan of Spider Man as a character. I rarely read his books (same with Supes) but with the exception of 3, I quite like Spidey on film. Iron Man has had a way better translation, though.
Spidey was the Man. I had more issues of his 3 or 4 titles than anything else.
The movies were fun, but Maguire was stuck in nerd mode and didn't capture the way Parker grew out of the awkward teen phase and got cool. That happens when you get bitten by a radioactive spider and become stronger than everyone but Hulk. You get cool.
That's what happened when I got bitten by a radioactive business consultant.
Iron Man is awesome. I'm a fan of the second film too, actually. Got it for Christmas on Blu Ray
Here's my idea for Iron Man 3 (like that matters much
Act I
We begin with Tony cleaning up, destroying a number of facilities that are basing weapons of war on his design. He avoids killing too many people, trying to maintain his hero status.
ACT II
He finds trouble balancing his Iron Man activities with running Stark Industries and consulting for The Avengers. To reduce his workload he designs a remote Iron Man installing Jarvis as the control system. This improves the Iron Man design as there is no longer the human element to take into consideration. Meanwhile Tony focuses on the business and build the Mandroids for S.H.I.E.L.D.
ACT III
Jarvis goes all HAL, destroying the Mandroids based on the data that they are copies of Stark's designs. Jarvis goes rogue. TOny must build another, improved suit with limited resources. Jarvis has access to the web and Tony must accept help (Reed Richards maybe?) to build a MK VI or whatever. He has to face Jarvis toe to toe in an epic Iron Man on Iron Man battle. Tony then must reconfigure Jarvis.
Wudya think?
Listened to the comm along with the film. Can I just say, when Teague asked 'What is Quantum Leap?' I died a little inside, but when Brian sang the theme tune I smiled.

I've found it interesting that while Marvel heroes have done better live action, it's DC that has had the most success in animation. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the characters themselves, or if it's just who has been in charge of making them. It's not the DC comics I love, but what Bruce Timm and friends have created (and I can't wait for Bruce Timm's Green Lantern TV series starting in the fall)

Ack! Iron Man fights another Iron Man?! That's what happened in the first two movies!
I love the idea of Jarvis controlling the suit, tho. I can imagine him operating it while Tony is unconscious inside it or flying it to Tony to save him.
Tony: Iron Man... you've... come to save me.
Jarvis: At your service, sir. [bows slightly]
Tony: You didn't bring fresh socks and underwear, by any chance, did you?
Jarvis: I'm filled with socks and underwear, sir.
Iron Man's weakness isn't other iron men; it's the fact that he has to put the suit on AND he's known (dumb move, coming out to the world...). The IM2 scene at the track is great for exploiting that, but I really didn't like the magic-jammies-in-a-briefcase gag. I know it's from the comics, but it's dumb. He should have had to run and hide like a normal guy.
The villain in IM3 needs to be a horrible mutant monster, in my opinion: man and his technology vs nature's worst case scenario.

The thing that always bothered me about super man is that he is practically invincible so there is nothing really at stake other then other people getting hurt which drops the tension. (for me at least)
It is harder to write a good Superman story, and his strength varies as one writer will de-power him to fit his plots and a later one will have him be a god. The animated series did a good job balancing things, and with Darkseid had a bad guy who could defeat him.
Megashark vs Iron Man!
Now Brian is my favorite!

Yeah, but you forget it's Spider-man 3 that sucks. Spider-man 2 is way better than the first one.
As for Iron Man: Love it. Iron Man 2: Like it a lot.
My 2¢: The only superhero movie i love is The Dark Knight. I enjoyed Iron Man because of RDJ and the great fx but the story was just ok. The fact i've never read an Iron Man comic didn't help - i was more of a DC guy back in the day.
In the Rifftrax, during the scene in the office with Jeff Bridges they say something like "just fix yourself a caucasian Dude" that cracked me up.
It's in the notes in the file, but I'd just like to reiterate something here. Tony says that the mk1 chest-piece can generate 3 Gigajoules of energy per second, or 3 GJ/s. 1 J/s = 1 Watt, so the mk1 can generate 3 GW (that's what the hell a Gigawatt is), or about the same as this nuclear power plant in Belgium (I can only imagine what the mk2 chest-piece or the full sized arc reactor generate).
Imagine a fan fiction with an Iron Man / Back to the Future crossover; Doc invents the Flux Capacitor, Tony steals the idea, and uses the existing arc reactor technology to travel through time. But Doc still has the Delorean, and finds Tony in time (so to speak), and has to steal the arc reactor to power it, so he can set things right. Could work.
I'm glad we weren't having this conversation live on the show because the first thing I blurted out of my stupid mouth would have been "Is iron magnetic?" And then I would have sat there in shock once my brain realized what my mouth had just done.
Welcome to the boards, sir.

Is that what he says? I have a memory from the movie (gotta re-watch) that he actually says something that makes no sense, like "3 gigawatts per second", whcih is nonsense because "watt" is power (energy over time) which is inherently a "per second" property itself.
What irks me most about this comment is when Jake lists his "least favourite superheroes" and lists all MY actual favorites from when I was a kid: Hulk and Fantastic Four. Wolverine I thought was ridiculous (partially coz we actually have wolverines in Sweden and know what lame little animals they are - the cool sounding name they have in English doesn't do them justice) and X-men was a mess.

The "stolen" Flickr photo in the opening montage wasn't actually stolen at all, and there definitely wasn't any suing, but it's still a cool story (bro).
