Re: The Dark Crystal

To Neuro, I would just say that there is a phrase that gets thrown around a lot on these parts which is, "Your mileage may vary."  Obviously all of the magic of Dark Crystal works for you.  That's awesome.  But it's subjective opinion about those subtle moments, not universal truth.  I don't think it takes anything away from the validity of anyone's points, yours or theirs.  I certainly don't think that this commentary marks anything different from our usual modus operandi.

If I want a cookie, and there's only one cookie left in the box, that doesn't make that cookie The Chosen Cookie. It's just my only option.

Look, we don't have any cookies left. You ate all the cookies.

Well, we have one other cookie...but it's been sitting under the fridge for a while, and it wasn't really a very good cookie to begin with.

lol...I love the image of Vader bouncing around at a house party, making sure everyone's have a good time, that there's enough punch, etc.

Of course, then he gets too drunk and starts throwing furniture with his mind.

Re: The Dark Crystal

I'm teach a high school 3D animation class this term and I found Trey talking about the skill muppetters have in designing mouth/face movements really interesting.

Does anyone know of any good resources (web pages, videos, documentaries) about the art of puppetry that I can use with my class?

The documentary Being Elmo comes to mind. Though it's more about Kevin Clash's story than it is directly about the art of puppetry. Do check it out at least.

Last week, I had to share the bit where Zap talks about the melody of Norwegian speech (starts ~0:35:00).
Revisited the whole episode this week, because nostalgia.
