Topic: Pick a plane
*based upon real events in the "Wanted" commentary*
If you could pick a plane, what would it be?
Teague's was an SR-71.
Personally, I would choose an A-10 Warthog. That has some serious firepower.
Anyone else?

I've always been partial to the F4U Corsair—the gull-winged Navy fighter from Black Sheep Squadron—but even more so for the P-38 Lightning. And of course the Spitfire has English charm, like a Lotus 7 with wings.
Lockheed P-38 Lightning
Oh, and the Fokker DR-1 should not be forgotten. Audacious, wrong-headed, deliberately unstable... but a terror in the hands of the Flying Circus.
I wish the Concorde was still around. I can stomach a six hour flight cross-country, but if the opportunity ever arose for me to visit Australia I think I would arrive an insane person.
I agree about the Corsair- There's one signed by Pappy Boyington hanging level to the entranceway in the huge air/space museum next to the DC airport.
The best plane, though, is the A-10 Warthog. For when you really don't like anyone on that road over there.

The airport closest to my house is named Pappy Boyington field-true story.
The Corsair is one amazing piece of equipment, especially in the hands of a skilled aviator. It was one of the reasons America was able to win the air war. I got to see one in the Air and Space Museum in Seattle, as well as the SR-71 Blackbird. The Blackbird is an amazing craft to look at.
The Warthog is all about firepower though. It's a shame it is no longer being produced.
This is actually what I thought the thread was about going in.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.
I've been doing 3D stuff way to much lately.
I stay with my original answer: the Fairchild C-82A. If you crash, you just make another plane out of it!
Note: the C-119 is a less-preferred but acceptable substitute.

the trips not that bad if you get an exit seat. the trip from Aus to europe though is a killer, done that one a few times...
my choice
beech baron, good twin engine and within the realm of possibility

Trey, you may want to rethink your choice.

There's no reason to make more as we have a ton and aren't losing any. They're upgrading them, though, expecting to keep using them till 2028.
I've always been partial to the F-16. My dad used to take me to air show all the time when I was younger an I loved looking at the F-16. It's one of the most versatile aircraft ever made.
I also like the flexibility of the F-22. It may be less maneuverable than the F-16, but it makes up for it in so many other ways.
It's all about the Mustang, baby.
Just listen to this baby purr...

well if you can do that, i'll raise you this:
Seriously. The Tardis has a pool and several squash courts. Does a star destroyer have that? No.
You know what a star destroyer has? Health and safety classrooms and infirmaries to mend the broken bones of people who fall off the precarious catwalks and ledges with no railings.
Oddly, both have bunk beds.

F-16's are up there for me too; I grew up with Iron Eagle.
"These are F-16C's 'Coop!"
Granted, that's from the sequel, but still.
Also, F-14s, care of Top Gun.
F-14's, sure that'd be the last post before I chimed in. Someting about the wide spacing on the nozzles and the pivotable wings. I spent countless hours (ineptly) copying elevation drawings of Tomcats from library books on a bit of formica that served as my 9-year old, future engineer's drafting table.
