Re: I need some C&C for this project.
Thats looking nice. The light all seems to be doing the right thing which is the real trick.

The sun and accompanying glow is a little white for the color it's shining on the clouds. I'd make it more peach/yellow.
Thanks guys
@Teague: Yeah, everything above the horizon hasn't been touched yet, it's all just temp stuff to pull colors. But I'll definitely keep that in mind as I'm starting the sky right now.
On that note, anyone wouldn't happen to have any cool cloud photos or know of any places to find good free resources for clouds?
Also still need some rocks if anyone has any.
Thanks!

Duuuuuuude, you rock!
So I'm throwing out a request for help from those more experienced than I.
I'm trying to create a heat distortion/ engine exhaust effect for my ship, at the moment I'm thinking some sort of particle effect inside maya to get the UV vector pass, plugged into an idistort inside Nuke to create the distortion.
Do you guys have any good tips or techniques you can suggest to create this kind of effect? If I could manage some sort of heat distortion with a touch of smoke, that would be perfect.
Thanks guys!
Not in Nuke, but it sounds like you have the right idea. I'd use a particle render of just exhaust that fades from white to black over the course of about half a second, with some variation, and use that to control an adjustment layer in AE that runs a turbulent displace. Like I said, sounds similar to what you're doing.
Anyone know how to salvage a corrupted photoshop CS5 file, or why it would corrupt every single backup I saved today? fml
Anyone recommend some really good movies to reference for creating fake bloods? Specifically emanating from the neck type area. Also any tips on doing that kind of stuff from scratch in post would be appreciated. (Like "I have to film all the elements myself" type from scratch)
Thanks again.
Sorta, but I really need some stuff focused entirely on doing it in post.
As well as some good film examples of neck wounds would be helpful, I know there's a ton out there, but my brain refuses to think of them today.
Alright, kind of a random one. But I am working on creating some jet afterburners for the ship and have hit a bit of a snag. I'm using maya particles. I built the effect static and it looks great, but as soon as I attach it to the ship (Which is moving) the particles all just end up streaming straight out behind the ship, not actually going straight out like it should be. I've tried messing with the velocity and lifespan, but I can't get it to look right. What I would really like to be able to do is just bake the particles with the emitter static and then parent that to the ship.
Any ideas?
