If the original idea is followed and the new trilogy follows Thrawn's era, this could have potential. But I don't know. I'm scared too. Kinda. Wait and see?
Realllly hoping they get Brad Bird to do Star Wars 7. If anyone can inject the sense of fun the series has been sorely missing it's that guy.
I'm all for Disney buying Star Wars if they give us the original, unaltered, trilogy on DVD/Blu-ray.
I genuinely don't know how to feel about this.
Seriously, guys: Joss is a BIT busy at the moment. I think we can rule his involvement out.
Looks like we're gonna have an episode about this up tonight. No promises, but, we're "on" it.
Okay, nobody knows how to feel about this; here's a subjective weigh in at pros and cons.
Pros: Disney has made some GREAT stuff. Even recently. Ish. Look at the pirates of the caribbean trilogy. Some people disagree with me about them, but for me, the two sequels are great. Number 4, on the other hand, is something else entirely, but I won't go there.
Disney also acquired Marvel, which means they're directly related to Avengers. Thor and Cap aren't, as far as I know, affected by it.
Wreck-it Ralph. While I obvioulsy can't really say much about it, it sure as hell looks cool, which is a proof that someone somewhere is doing something right.
But I digress.
Cons: Disney. It may affect fanfilms in a bad way. Lucas stayed out of it, Disney probably won't. Star Wars is, at least for me, a complete trilogy. The prequels didn't bring anything neccesary to the table, and I doubt sequels will either.
Sure, we now get the sequels some fans have been nagging about since they were rumoured in the first place, but does Disney really have anything to do with this? If Lucas REALLY wanted to do them, nobody's ever stopped him before. He has the money, I assume, to do it, so why Disney? Why now? And why announce it now? It sounds to me like all they have thus far is "STAR WARS 7", and 3 years to come up with anything remotely cool, and complete it, too.
I don't know. I'll be looking out for news, and if a possible trailer for it, somewhere down the line looks cool, I might even check it out. It's not like it cna be worse than the prequels, right?
..right?
On the plus side, these forums have been the busiest than they have been in a while ![]()
I tried going on to TFN for the first time in a long while, that thing is slower than a dead snail.
Pro-they could release the originals restored.
Con- the could stop Fan Films
Pro- new movies could be good and fun
Con- new movies could be bad.
Pro- the could undo the Special Editions and Blu-ray changes
Con-they could not undo changes...
I bet Disney releases the unaltered original trilogy on Blu-Ray. It's a smart move for them.
Not sure how I feel about it at the moment. The optimist in me thinks Episode 7 cannot possibly be worse than the prequels. I wouldn't hold my breath on the OT finally being treated respectfully, there was bound to have been a clause in the contract to continue fucking with those films every decade.
On the brighter side, maybe this means we'll finally get a Willow sequel?
I'm trying hard to hear the Disney title music followed by the Star Wars main theme. God knows I'm trying.
