Re: The New Introduction Thread

First post.  My real name is Chris.  I'm Raven both here and on the Rifftrax forum and that's directly how I found this site.  I met Chris Hanel while a member there while Geekza was still up and running.  I wasn't a listener there but I was involved in Chris's Riff Raff Theater productions as a contributing writer.  I met him in Iowa City at two of the live shows there and had a blast.  When I asked another Rifftrax forum member for a copy of their original Harry Potter riff mp3 I got sent a copy of the DIF Phantom Menace commentary by mistake.  I listened to it and laughed my ass off, found the site and I've been going through various commentaries over the last couple of months.  Finally decided to get in on the conversation and sign up.

More about me.
I'm a big fan of MST3k and now Rifftrax and I've put together a couple of riffs myself as "Raven's Riffs" and it's a lot of work but a lot of fun.  I guess that's my version of a fan film and I'll be happy to provide links to them if anyone is interested in checking them out.  I had no idea Zarban's site existed or that my commentaries appear on that site.  The movies I've riffed are Hollow Man, Timeline, and the 1st Twilight movie.

Worst injury-
In 2nd grade I stepped on a piece of glass in a lake near our home and sliced the base of my 2nd toe on my right foot that ended up with 6 stitches and a walking boot for a month to make sure I didn't lose a toe to infection.

Favorite pizza-  Free pizza.  I'm currently in charge of running 2 Domino's Pizza franchises that my father owned before he passed away a few years back.  So my favorite pizza changes but I can pretty much make whatever I want whenever I want.

Looking forward to contributing to the conversation and getting to know all you fine folks.  Being a fan of Rifftrax and listening to Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett for your entertainment, you get used to talking about the guys projects and not really interacting with the guys themselves.  It was really strange getting an email directly from one of the voices I've been listening too.

Here's a link to a couple of educational shorts I riffed on that I have up on youtube.  The other ones are actually pay links so I'll work on uploading them somewhere free so there's no risk in checking them out, aside from finding the movies.  Please let me know what you think.

Re: The New Introduction Thread

Hello all, Philip is my actual name. I am a Christian, husband, and father of 2 sons. I work as a Letter Carrier with the US Postal Service. This enables me to listen to podcasts & audiobooks for many hours a day, which is awesome. I found DIF doing an iTunes search for podcasts related to a movie I had recently watched- Raiders Of The Lost Ark, maybe. I tried it out and discovered that WAYDM is a keeper. I love that I can listen to a commentary without having the movie on. I am so not a fan of pretentious film snobbery that seems to suck the fun out of some movies in pursuit of a strange esoteric credibility. I get none of that from these guys. The FIYH crew cracks me up, I love real people who don't take themselves too seriously. If you know yourself at all- how can you, huh?

My favorite movie is the Lord Of The Rings Trilogy, which I am incapable of ranking in order. I just see it as one big story broken into 3 parts, all full of awesome.

I love film & TV scores such as Doctor Who, LOTR, Lost, Gladiator, Last Of The Mohicans, Road To Perdition, and Sherlock. The Intermission #58 is AMAZING!

Haha! I don't believe it! I'll be checking out the Full Metal Jacket episode soon. That movie has a very accurate depiction of Marine Corps boot camp, although it was way toned down by the time I went through in 1990.

Re: The New Introduction Thread

Whoops, totally skipped this. Didn't read the stickies. You'd think I was a n00b or something.

Boter, and called that offline by some too. Official documentation name is Andrew, last name is currently being sorted out. (Hehe that sounds more fun and mysterious than it actually is.)

Was on the TheForce.Net FanFilm Forum years ago, first as DarthArjuna then after some post milestone (I think 5,000) as Boter.

By day I'm a wedding videographer and editor. By night... well I'd like to point to my YouTube channel here (screw it I will - youtube.com/Boter46) but I typically just play video games. Extra spare time goes into the channel with occasional larger film projects and other weekly content, including a YouTube cooking show (like the segment isn't saturated enough) called Boter Cooks Something whose second season will start in November.

And to answer some of the prompting questions - my worst injury is breaking my nose - twice. Once with my own foot, once with a lightsaber. Pizza, um, a bit doughy and the topping changes day to day, Hawaiian is nice though. I think Teague already has my sister's phone number so that's enough of that, you creepy folk.

Boter, formerly of TF.N as Boter and DarthArjuna. I like making movies and playing games, in one order or another.

Welcome, Boter.

I think I saw you around tfn when I hung out there.

And who's creepy?

I make a habit of getting all of your sister's phone numbers.

Boter is noteworthy only in that he already knows I have it.

I wish I could find a way to tell 13-year-old me to go to TFN, because you guys keep reminding me I seem to have missed much.

Problem is, 13-year-old me's English probably sucks.

The secret section wouldn't be such an issue if it wasn't for the "post your own DIY pornography" thread.

Well you shouldn't have mixed it with the pornography thread. The resulting, horrifying, traumatising results almost shut the entire thing down.
