Naw, Batman '66 had the fabulous Lee Meriwether, resplendant in an orange Velma dress as her alter ego, Kitka.

I have it in HD on my DVR. There are 4 fan commentaries for it, that I know of.

I loved that show as a kid, but my stupid, dumb, jerk sister always wanted to watch I Love Lucy and tried to convince me to switch off alternate days. That's no compromise! Every episode is a two-parter! How would I ever see them escape?!

I'm not sure how many of the Pirates commentaries you've recorded but I watched the second movie with the writers commentary last night and one of the things mentioned was how they wanted to move away from "One hero and a three act structure"

thought that might be something to add to your discussion, how successful they were with it

In terms of having neither a distinct hero nor a clear structure, they were completely successful. In terms of that being a wise move toward making the film entertaining and engaging, not so much.

^This.

My son is all about wanting to move away from pooping in his diaper and more in a direction of covering his legs in shit while he cackles maniacally at me.  In that sense, mission accomplished.  I still would prefer a more traditional approach to pooping in his predetermined paper sack.

.....and this reminds me quite a bit of Pirates.

(And no, we're not counting the TV Batman movie from the 60's).

Although I don't see why not.   That was the Batman I grew up with... and damn, all those other versions aren't funny at all.

Well, Schumacher's kinda came close.

I thought we weren't doing it because its hard to acquire in conventional legal means.  Ive seen it, and its kinda awesome in that it's Batman's entire rogues gallery fighting him at once.  Plus it was the Eartha Kitt Catwoman, I believe, which was my favorite.

The TV series has been in legal limbo for awhile and thus hasn't had a DVD release. The movie, however, has been released on both DVD and Blu-ray so even if it's currently out of print (until the next Batman movie they can piggyback a re-release on) it shouldn't be hard for people to get.

Re: Suggest a movie!

I've not filled my irritating question quota for the week, so are you guys planning to do the X-Men Trilogy anytime soon? With a new movie coming soon, it'd be an interesting time to discuss them. What did they get right? What could they have done better? The series' inconsistency might make for a good DiF discussion.

Have we suggested Gattaca? Would that be a good commentary or 90 minutes of Trey making "mmm, Uma" noises?

Gattaca is a great idea! I had to study it for Year 12 English. I don't know how many times I watched it. I am pretty sure I knew it word for word though.

I quite enjoy the first two X Men movies and only recently saw the third one which was a giant yawn the entire way through.  I actually prefer the second film to the first and I hope one day DiF covers all three.

Re: Suggest a movie!

Don't know whether this has been suggested before, but how about doing Stargate?

I loved this movie when it came out and just watched it the other day - I think it holds up well. Great set design and special effects, an interesting story (twist on the chariots of the gods concept) and some great performances from Spader and Russell. Sold?

I agree. I think DiF taking on Stargate and its influence on science fiction would be interesting

I tend to think the series has had more influence. Rewatching the film recently I was struck by how much more enjoyable the series that followed it was; more character development, better realization of the world, and more humor.

Revisiting the first page: Le pacte des loups (Brotherhood of the wolf). It's French, full of action, and if you're not a filthy bi-linguist (according to pundits, god hates them) you'll watch it with subtitles anyway. Perfec'

I agree, but DiF taking on all 8 seasons is a little daunting task, don't you think? I mean, it sounds cool, but they have not even done Lord of the Rings yet wink

I agree the series is more enjoyable, but the movie is still a good flik, in my opinion, and worth analyzing.
