It's bizarre for there to be a trailer out, folks I know have been working on this movie for like four years.
I just mentioned this on Twitter, but the trailer looked fan-made to me, as if it was cut together from lots of different movies. But those dogfights do look cool, even if the dialogue is embarrassing.
In 20 years George will be back with a prequel about World War 1 and have the guys from Good Burger play the main parts. He knows comedy.
This has been in production for four years? Or just had a really long preproduction period? That's a lot of time, either way.
I dunno about this one, tho. The dialogue in the trailer bothers the hell out of me. It's like they chopped up every motivational speech ever given and made a movie with it. Some of the flying bits did look pretty good, tho.
Long post-production, production was in 2009. It's George's pet project (tho he's not the director per se), and so he's been doodling with it for as long as he felt like. That's one of the perks of being a scrappy little indie studio like Lucasfilm...
Just watched Red Tails. Could it have been better, yes. SHOULD it have been better, Definitely.
However, compared to alot of film that come out nowadays, it was way above par and that surprised me with all the negativity that it had when it came out.
My problem with Red Tails is it was so... by the book. There's something about the way it's shot or looks or the way the actors perform, while watching it, it felt like I should've been experiencing sympathetic emotions, but I didn't. It didn't affect me at all.
The whole movie was a flatline and I was disappointed to never find a pulse.
