Sure, absolutely.

The question is really "do I trust this to also be telling me the truth about a future purchase or not," though. Which. Lol.

I think this Hawkeye should be an Avenger. Would add a much more interesting dynamic big_smile

Re: The Avengers

Yeah, Cliff Barton is an expert marksman at every kind of projectile weapon, but he prefers a bow with gimmicked arrowheads.

Basically, he's Marvel's version of Green Arrow, a super hero with a slightly more plausible origin and reasoning.  I never cared for him, but he has his fans.  Black Widow as written is much more about espionage and subterfuge.  She's written as more assassin-y in the books, but here she's just a chick with a 9mm.  I love that circular shot, EXCEPT for when she's reloading a 12 round clip into a tiiiiiny pistol.  Dammit woman, you're standing next to a God.  COME CORRECT!

Re: The Avengers

To be fair, as comic guy, I never liked super hero groups.  Justice League and Avengers, with the exception of a couple runs, have been boring.  It's exhausting having END OF THE WORLD problems to solve every week, and yet unless there is one, there's no reason to hang out together.

The exception is the X Men, who come together because of persecution, and see the school as a safe haven.  That can create interesting stories.  Not, "We're rig and powerful so let's hang out together and punch space in the face until it bleeds."

X-Men was the hero team I always came back to. I never followed the Avengers until the launch of the Ultimates by Mark Millar, that was great.

What about the Teen Titans?

Never got into them, but I do respect the notion of "Hey, we're young sidekicks and we matter too."

The circle moment was probably the funniest moment, though unintentionally so. It sounds like the beginning of a bad joke-Iron Man, Captain American, Thor and a chick with a pistol walk in to a bar...
Seriously, Samuel Jackson got an RPG and he's the leader...give her at least a machine gun guys

How can you not love these guys? They fought a bunch of bad guys who hung out in a giant Darth Vader helmet swamp base. And they gave us such icons like the Wonder Twins and those politically correct additions who were only there to diversify the cast.

Exactly. And he has arrows that throw nets, short out electrical circuits, create anchor points for drop lines or climbing a wall, vibrate stuff to pieces, spread sleep gas—you name it. It's Batman's utility belt in convenient projectile form.

He's not?
That changes everything wink
While Hawkeye is an interesting character, I'm not sure that introducing him in this movie is the wisest choice.

They're showing various DC shorts during the breaks of the new animated Green Lantern (Bruce Timm produced, so will watch) and new episodes of Teen Justice. One of the spots had a guy testing an arrow with a boxing glove on the end. Sadly, despite their "proof" that it in fact works they edited the footage so it could easily have been faked. Guess I'll have to wait until Mythbusters gives it a go.

Wow compared to a magical smashing hammer of the gods with infinite power, a bow and arrow is really useful!

My bet is that Hawkeye is Whedon fodder; there's no way he makes it to the end credits alive.

Pfft. You and Hulk can play 3800 PSI patty-cake while Cap and Tony and I figure out how to stop the distribution of genetic mutation virus with a pop can tab, a screwdriver, AND MY VIRUS-KILLING-GAS DISTRIBUTION ARROW.

How would Thor stop the Carbon-Copy Men from stealing a load of nitroglycerin?
—With a hammer.

How would Thor stop Megatak from hacking NASA and downloading the plans for the NASA Mars rocket?
—With a hammer.

How would Thor get a cat down out of a tree?
—With a hammer.

How would Thor get orphans to do their math homework?

You're right, Hawkeye's arrow of math tutor is much more visually exciting. It sound like the Avengers P&P RPG is going to be awesome, sadly the rest of us are stuck watching a film.

Hey buddy, 4 words: "Holographic calculator tipped arrow."

BAM! Hows that for visually exciting?! Hunh!!

I can see it now, little Timmy struggling with homework, about ready to rip his hair out when...suddenly...

*TTWWAAAANNNG* /*CRASH*/ THUD!

The mighty arrow of Hawkeye soars through the window and embeds itself in the desk, mere inches from little timmys hand.

With a gentle hum the holographic display kicks into life, casting light across the dazzled youths face.

He runs to the window in joyous delight and screams to the night, "Thank you Hawkeye! Where-ever you are!"

Nothing responds but the gentle flick of a bow laden shadow across the moon lit street.

I...uh....I think I need to get some sleep hmm

Re: The Avengers

Well......Wil Wheaton is awesome....

I have read reviews of the film (UK mags Empire and Total Film) and they have both given it 4 stars (out of 5). And it is actually rare that they agree (there was a star between their Cabin In The Woods reviews). I am still looking forward to the film and I'm seeing it in two days! Should be good. smile

This made the following scene spring into life in my head:

Kid: Hmm.  What do I use to represent a Euclidean vector?

Hawkeye: *looks at camera, raises eyebrow and smirks*
