Topic: Music to roto to.
So I've been doing a lot of roto lately and my music collection is starting to get reeeeaaaaaallllly repetitive.
So what do y'all listen to?

Down in Front, for the most part. Sometimes I find old Nerdist episodes. (This second, I'm listening to Chris Hardwick chat with David Tennant.)
Basically anything long, talky, and not annoying.
When I'm doing music, I like Venus Hum's Big Beautiful Sky, I went through a big Hush Sound Like Vines phase. Pulp's This is Hardcore is great with good headphones. Further Down the Spiral if it's really late.
My new "Doing Things" album is the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo soundtrack. It's both energetic and weirdly calming.
I find that metal and chiptunes and other really energetic music keeps me going when I'm doing tedious stuff, but it's hard to find energetic music that isn't overly ... invasive?...
Lately it's been bands like Outrun the Sunlight and Porcupine Tree. Porcupine Tree is fucking amazing. I recommend their In Absentia album. They'll do some heavier riffs and then segue into the smoothest prog/rock you'll ever hear.
I find that i generally work better with more instrumental type stuff, than standard tunes. big fan of Thievery Corporation, Four Tet, Battles (if i'm looking for more frenetic stuff), Eno's soundscape music for more mellow stuff (Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks / or music for films), Medeski, Martin and Wood is a great jazz(ish) 3 piece, or maybe Whitest Boy Alive.
But then every now and then I'll work to Zappa...but that can be somewhat all consuming, so do that at your own risk.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Junius, or anything that decides to come on really.
Audiobooks tends to be my audio-listening of choice for the work that doesn't really need all my mental focus.
Coolios. Sorta the same question but different. What other podcasts do y'all listen to?
Roguelike Radio
Also, not a podcast, but I watch a lot of Jef Major's stuff. He does "Let's Plays" for various games, usually weird little games that don't get much attention because they're indie or really niche. He broadcasts every saturday for like 6 or 8 hours and just does random shit. Mostly playing games or generally fucking around, but he's funny as hell and I've discovered dozens of little awesome games because of him.
I've never really listened to many podcasts, tho. DiF has kinda gotten me into them, mostly thanks to The Intermission. I'd like to know about some more good ones, and not just limited to movies or games, either. Just good podcasts in general.
Turntable.fm, drop into one of the electro-trance rooms, and you've got non-stop high energy but mindless-enough-to-not-be-distracting music.
I tend to go with audiobooks as well fairly often. In terms of other podcasts, Jake Lloyd turned me onto WTF with Marc Maron. Lots of good interviews with comedians and actors.
Other than DIF I usually walk to:
Audiobooks from the library
Radiolab - science and philosophy and other interesting things
Consumerism Commentary - personal finance
Escape Pod - short sci fi stories
Age of Persuasion - on advertising
White Coat Black Art - on medicine
Filmspotting just started a spin-off called Filmspotting SVU (Streaming Video Unit), and the first episode is on the Filmspotting iTunes feed right now. I highly recommend it. It's a nice change of pace from normal film review shows, and the hosts have great chemistry.
