Re: Fitocracy

On the subject of buff Mike, I'm looking at starting focused weigh training one day a week to supplement the Crossfit. Suggested resources to plan activity?

Re: Fitocracy

Starting Strength.

Though that's not a supplement, that's a primary thing that other things supplement.

Re: Fitocracy

What's your purpose in adding weight training to your regimen? Are you lifting more for strength, for aesthetics, is there a body part you feel doesn't get adequate attention through Crossfit? What's the goal?

Re: Fitocracy

I've been stuck for a while with Olympic lifts; gains in cleans, snatch, squats are really slow to earn and fast to lose.

The CF stuff is great and I can see and feel the gains through my core and met con; in terms of training pure work capacity I don't know if there's anything better. I want to see if replacing a CF workout with pure strength focus is going to help target the weaknesses (hamstrings, glutes, upper back), which will help with the Oly lifting.

I should point out power lifting isn't really an aim, or strength. My biomechanics are better suited to Olympic lifting - happiest with weight overhead.

Re: Fitocracy

I've just been going back to class mostly.  Monday is Escrima, Wednesdays Jiu Jitsu, Saturday Muay Thai.  Before each class I warm up with a light kettlebell routine and after each class I murder whats left of me with battleropes.  I'll start posting tomorrow.

Re: Fitocracy

That's a fun website. I have no idea where I'm going with it, I don't have the time nor the money to go the gym right now. But if I'm to start doing some pushups three times a week again, I might as well write it down there.
