I heard more about him in the news than anything else.

I have a LOT to say on LXG.
Just read an article that League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was Sean Connery's last film
We talked a bit about this in the RAIDERS commentary, if I'm not mistaken.

I'll revisit that one, thank you.
Yes, I am behind on the times. We all know that. Personally, I'll be excited when I get cable next month
+1 for "The Hunt for Red October". One of my favorites.
Also how about a Commentary on RocknRolla one of my favorite Guy Ritchie Films
Just watched Sahara on Netflix after remembering Trey referencing it, and I loved it. Stupid, ludicrous fun. Maybe you guys could take a whack at it?

Fun film, and never understood the ill will towards it. Not a perfect movie, but a perfectly fun adventurous romp.
I'd be curious to here more in depth views on it.
I feel like this might have been suggested before, but can't remember.
I'd love an intermission/grab bag discussion about trailers. best/worst, reasons they work, why they don't, the editing of them, the use of music, those weird trailers that have clips from the film that aren't in the movie, how much control directors have over them, etc. I'd be fascinated to hear what you guys think.
I've long had a theory that the more variations on a trailer I see, the worse that movie is (comedies specifically). However, I can't say for sure that's still the case because I actively try and avoid them...I've been burned too many times.
I love that idea. You could spend 4 hours talking about trailers. There's so much to cover.
I'm another vote for trailers.
so how about we get a poll or something started. I 'm only going to look at the highlighted movies for now. I vote thatthe next commentaries should be Book of Eli and the Dark Knight Rises.
How A Commentary on Director Ben Affleck's Gone Baby Gone i feel this is a good commentary to do since i like to how you feel about films directed by ben affleck and plus this is my favorite film he has directed next to the town

I third the motion for a trailer intermission. When The World's End hits blu-ray, I think we need a Hot Fuzz/ The World's End double feature. Having seen Kick-Ass 2, and being underwhelmed by it, I popped in my copy of Super with Rainn Wilson and I realized that in ways, Super is superior to the original Kick-Ass and I'd like to hear the group of Teague/Eddie/Dorkman/Trey who did the Kick-Ass commentary to conduct a Super commentary.
However, with less than 2 weeks until October, I wonder what Halloween double-features may be coming. We've had found-footage, zombie, etc. There are a few features id love to see this October.
- Vampire Double-Feature: Let Me In (or Let the Right One In) and either Interview with a Vampire or The Lost Boys
- Hitchcock Double-Feature: Anything would suffice, but I have a soft-spot for Vertigo, would love to have that one covered
- Black & White Double-Feature: Kind of explains itself, like the original Blob
- Foreign Horror Double Feature: There are plenty of contenders here including H-G Clouzot's 1955 french horror/thriller Les Diaboliques, which was credited in inspiring Hitchcock to write Psycho. You could include the J-Horror in this category like the original Ring, Grudge, or The Eye. And although not considered a horror film, the 1965 Italian film The 10th Victim would be a great film analysis. It follows the path of The Most Dangerous Game but proceeds movies like The Running Man, it's like The Hunger Games meets The Amazing Race. And the satire in how they spoof advertising in media and how media can easily desensitize its viewers to violence. Plus with the Hunger Games sequel coming out in November (which I'd enjoy a commentary on as well) it'd be well timed to release a 10th Victim commentary.
Spanish Horror Double-Feature: You could include these films in the Foreign Horror category but Spanish filmmakers have recently produced a number of films that could warrant a commentary. The original Rec (which was remade as Quarantine in the US), The Devil's Backbone, and The Orphanage are just a couple id love to hear the guys talk about.
Oh, I can't forget, I'd love the guys to redo a Zombieland commentary so as Trey said during the Shaun of the Dead commentary "We gonna re-record that one, so I can fuck that dog the way it should be fucked!". Because I'm glad someone else shares the same hatred for that movie as I do.
I'd like to see you guys do Soderbergh's Bubble. I don't remember it being all that long and I believe it was supposed to be the 1st in a series of super cheap, non-L.A. produced movies. And the way they were released was strange too. I think the theatrical release coincided with the DVD release or something along those lines. The commentaries on the super low budget movies that I hadn't previously heard of like Monsters and 2010: Moby Dick are really interesting to me and I'd love to hear about how this was put together.
Side note: Any thought on letting listeners commission a commentary via the donate button and actually pick the movie? Not throw away titles like The Room or Birdemic but serious titles we'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on or more complicated titles similar to the Fountain or Mulholland Dr. that we might want explained film school style, without actually going to film school. I noticed a ransom request from a while ago for a new microphone stand in exchange for the missing episode grunt work from the re-branding and thought I'd ask. Just curious.

Another vote for Road To Perdition. I love that movie- the cast, performances, score, and just the basic story of a parent who wants his kid to be a better person than he is. That scene with Hanks and Newman in the rain- wow.
I'm surprised No Country For Old Men isn't already listed, I'm a newb- so am I missing something? I'd like to hear a commentary on that as well.
Star Trek Into Darkness is on DVD/Blu-Ray. Not askin', just sayin'

I'm still with you there. I rewatched it a few weeks ago, and while it's not a fantastic movie, I find the vitriol that it's been getting to be ridiculous and mostly unfounded. "BUT KHAN'S MAGIC BLOOD THAT'S SO STUPID." Ugh. It's fucking Star Trek. We're talking about a franchise that had giant maggots that crawled inside your ear and brainwashed you. It's not like everything was logically sound up to this point. Pretty sure this universe falls under what the FIYH glossary calls a "Wonderland," so I really don't understand why Khan's "magic blood" caused such an uproar.
The way that they concealed his identity was dumb, though. Just come out and say he's Khan. It wasn't exactly a shocking moment. The fact that they made such a big deal out of it gave away the twist that John Harrison wasn't his real name. If they had just said, "Yeah, the villain's name is John Harrison," the Khan twist would have been so much more effective.
Is magic resurrection-blood acceptable in the (new) Star Trek universe on a magic bean level? Sure.
Is it stupid, lazy, tension-destroying-forever shitty writing? Also yes.

Sure. I'm not gonna argue that Into Darkness is perfect. But if you're ranking all 12 Star Trek movies honestly, there's no way if comes close to the bottom. It seems like the internet has made this movie its whipping boy this summer and I don't get it.
I also don't get why everyone suddenly has a deep hatred for Man Of Steel, which has some major pacing/structure problems but is otherwise a perfectly good superhero movie. Don't even get me started on the whole "SUPERMAN DOESN'T KILL WAHHH" bullshit. So Superman in the comics doesn't kill? Well, this isn't a fucking comic. Deal with it. Also, I guess people suddenly care about the collateral damage from epic superhero battles? I don't get it.
And what's the deal with airline food?

Airline has always been evil...
Also, it is nice to know that I am not alone with the whole Into Darkness hatred. Again, it isn't anyone here so nobody feel like I'm sniping you. I know the internet is a seething vat of hatred at various things so it really should surprise me when a new version of that hate appears. However, Into Darkness hatred has risen to the point of ridiculousness.
"Worst Star Trek film ever..."
"Abrams has ruined Star Trek forever!"
"Abrams is trying to destroy Star Trek on purpose!"
"If you like Abrams Trek, you are not a true fan..."
Not kidding, not hyperbole. This is why I left the official ST forum, because there was little discussion about the movie-only rhetoric.
So frustrating...
I suggest Sharknado for the FIYH Guys to do a commentary on since Trey did direct Moby Dick for the Asylum
