Perfect.
Now if an asteroid hits you, at least the project is secure!

...but I'm sure everything's fine in the asteroid department, so don't freak out.

Faldor, for the saber roto uncompressed is overkill. Roto crew doesn't need every pixel to be perfect.
Comp artists need raw or lossless, no doubt. The only official comp-ers AFAIK at this point are Teague and Tom.

Owen, I can't seem to get the trimmed project zip file to successfully DL, 4+ gigs is apparently a problem for some part of my system.  Can you make a link to the main project file? I already have the raw footage. (Or break the zip into several files?)

Owen, I'm thinking about how to get shots out into the 'verse for VFX.

What software are you using?

The set extension & 3D element stuff (droid & ship) needs to be non-compressed at both ends of the pipeline, I presume. i.e. the artist known as Teague will need full-quality plates for his comps. Luckily he has the raw footage, and only needs to know which takes are in use.

For the roto work, I have Premiere cs6 and I could crop out the working takes (plus heads & tails) and put them up on Dropbox for saber roto. Do we think a good x264 compression is okay for that? Then the roto crew can deliver just the cores as PNG files.

It sounded like you and Tom had worked out the hologram stuff. If not, what's the plan for those?

Also, lightning, and any other FX elements I'm forgetting. Talk to me, Goose.

I'd can understudy for you Teague, be the good cop to your bad.

Degreed.
Audiobook version would work better for me in getting familiar with your world, but I'll have a look.

I'm feeling good vibes for you Mike.
Today's FB update made my eyes blurry with catharsis.

Mike, here's hoping they find the meanest and hottest physical therapist in all of Cali for you.
Because the meanness is what gets you back to normal the fastest.
Hotness is also usually somewhat motivational.

I see your dilemma. Re-reading the thread, and correcting for what little I know of the enigmatic auteur, I think he was giving the go ahead on what you posted.

Is Dave still visiting regularly? Accio Dave!

Don't mind me if you guys are already working this out, but...

Tom, how about you do your green removal and provide Dave with PNG sequence plates with alpha. At least get that aspect moved along..

If you get the live plates from Dave to do the hologram vfx, all the better. Heck, I've still got all the raw takes if nobody else can manage to get them uploaded where you can get at them.

Huh, my indie thinkpiece, "2014 Lavantula," will also open that weekend.
Small world.

<edit>
I totally meant: "2014 Lavarachnia."
Next year we're doing "2015 Lavalobstera."

Just so everyone knows, we are SO CLOSE. Like, right there. Just a couple tiny tweaks and we're out the door. I'm listening back to the final/second-to-final mixes right now and goddammit I love this album.

OH SHIT NO! I can read between the lines! Destructive creative differences and the producers have walked out? Fuck! I've gotta tweet this!

This album haunts my dreams.

It's all the same to me, Tom, and the one-angle shot has been blessed. This thing deserves to get completed, not bogged down in my purist ideals, so chive on by all means.

I have a question for you Zarban:
Are you looking for the standard Star Wars universe 3D hologram effect?
The sample you referenced above would work for the interface and such for the communicators, but the "real" holograms projected in-universe are not flat. ref: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUncfeCeYZ8

If you're going for authentic, then Tom needs to shoot himself from the angles that are correct for the shots he'll be put into. If not, then the takes Tom has just presented could be included on the flat holo-panel as a 2d image, barring any notes from the VFX crew.
