Just saw HER and yup...that movie completely knee capped me. Absolutely cracks my top 5, realistically right at number 2. Still processing parts of it, but I think it's time for me to start recognizing Spike Jonze as one of my favorite directors.

I've been a member there for a bit. I really like the atmosphere, but my contributions have been pretty much nothing. It's a great idea he and his brother had.
Damn...Goodbye Mr. Hooper is like yesterday for me.
Fighting in Plain Sight lacks a banner. Fighting in Plain Sight is sad.
Here's the interview I did with Cage Potato.
I remember a couple years where they aired on Tuesday, actually. I think if it overlapped with President's Day then they pushed it to Tuesday.
Yeah The Interrupters not getting nominated was some bullshit.
I wasn't at all surprised Blackfish didn't get a nom, but Stories We Tell not getting nominated is shocking. I have this sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach that 20 Feet From Stardom will get the upset, but Acto fo Killing is still as much of a lock as anything else.
BTW, Sarah Polley on twitter just heaped huge amounts of love on Joshua Oppenheimer and AoK, and vice versa. Pure class, that lady.
You can listen to the archived episode here, in case you can't get enough of my voice.
Live in 15 minutes.
I mention on our unreleased episode where we talk about the best of 2013...
Act of Killing is my choice for best film of 2013, and it has cracked my top 20 of all time. Simply because....I cannot think of a film even remotely like this one, nor do I think making a film like this can ever be possible again. It is wholly unique in both it's subject and it's craftsmanship. It's not pleasant at ALL, but it is unrivaled in what it is able to capture on screen.
They kind of hinted at this at the Cinefamily screening Paulou and I attended.
C'mon everybody! Get over to the Audience Awards and vote! It's a two-horse race now between Fighting in Plain Sight and Yours Truly, and Yours Truly is out in front. I'm sure it was made by nice people who are kind to children and small animals, but let me just say that it's not a patch on Fighting in Plain Sight and leave it at that.
Vote early! Vote often! The entire future of the internet is at stake!
This guy. This guy right here.
And here is the specific link. If you're free tomorrow at 5pm Pacific time, you can call in with questions.
Tomorrow, wednesday Jan 15th at 5pm PST, I will be appearing on Carson's Corner Radio Show to discuss the film and the campaign. You can listen live at www.blogtalkradio.com/carsonscorner
I...I love you guys.
Just want to say thanks for all the support from everyone. It really does mean a lot. About to get all George Bailey up in this motherfucker.
If you'e donated you'll see a more eloquent version in the IGG update email that will go out later tonight. But to sum up, here are some things I can say at this point.
- We are talking about bringing another producer on board. It's someone specific, who I've known for a while. We're talking about not only cash to finish production, but distribution paths. ALL of this is dependent on how well we do in this campaign. Not just from a dollar standpointbut from an enthusiasm standpoint. SO please, if you haven't already, 1-10 bucks is a HUGE help (so is 5 grand, so I certainly won't stop you from doing that).
- I'll be doing some press this week with some well known MMA media. I've got an interview CagePotato on Tuesday, an interview with middleeasy.com, and Wednesday I'll be on Carson's Corner podcast. Got some other ones coming up too. More on those when they drop.
- The family of the man murdered by Rafiel wants to donate and be involved. Incredibly brave of them, and I'm truly humbled. Nothing else to add.
Yes, Wagner was a Nazi. But he was also Wagner. Meanwhile, Shia's oeuvre consists of material that I would not exactly compare to Wagner. Or Walt Disney, or any other asshole who's made art that I care about.
Also, the thing people are pissed about him for is ripping off other people's art. So the argument becomes uber circular because we're being asked to separate art from artist, when the artist's art isn't always his own.
I don't really want to throw any more attention his way. All I'll say is that while IP theft is always wrong, IP theft from an indie comic artist is ESPECIALLY low. Even the most successful comic writers/artists don't get rich doing what they do. SO to twist yourself in knots to steal from one is just....scummy.
I love Pi. I was super inspired as a film student when that came out. I stand by it as one of his better ones.
Easy. Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
THANK YOU! I issue you thanks, and double thanks.
We got some more donations last night. Also to remember to vote for us in the audience awards once a day.
He was a great speaker, and he wasn't...AWFUL, but no one looks back fondly at the Arnold administration. Honestly Jerry Brown has exceeded my expectations by a thousand fold. We're a tough state to manage. If California seceded from the union, we would be the 7th largest economy in the world. People forget the hundreds of miles of farms between LA and San Francisco that just happen to provide food around the world. We are also beset by budget issues, and though we always vote blue nationally, there's a ton of rich republicans in Orange County that make political gridlock pretty regular.
