Can I get a roll call for Sunday the 14th? I'm going to try prepping some storyline stuff on my flights but if we aren't playing I need to know for fundraising stream scheduling purposes.

Right there with you Tom.

Agreed. Helps readability and makes them more of a symbol that can be used rather than an intricate logo.

I won't be able to play for the next couple Sundays - someone coming over to stream with me for kicking off St. Jude PLAYLIVE this week, and my birthday the next week so probably my sister in town. Is anyone able to do something during the week?

*joins in wild flailing*

Crap, Squigs, I think we agree on something. Time for one of us (probably me) to go re-evaluate life.

Got me interested in the idea of the Jedi as an institution coming to an intentional, self-imposed end. Otherwise, "Ooh, that's all pretty!"

I don't mean to crap on it, necessarily; but there's no way it could match up to the hype of TFA. After nearly thirty years, Han says, "Chewie? We're home." Good luck living up to that.

Looking forward to the movie of course, and looking forward to the first trailer.

No session this Sunday due to Easter. I might be back from my aunt's in time but I won't have anything ready.

Mission: to liberate a civilian science team and their vessel who were onboard a space station orbiting Ginok.

The Sunry went in undercover, saying they were going to effect the prisoner transfer. They came in to dock, only to find that the station was suspicious - Betrüger and the away team were met with ten guys with guns. A firefight erupted as the Event Horizon entered the fray, engaging the two frigates in space while Betrüger, Bullet, and the away team took care of those guards (when one grenade fails and Betrüger gets knocked out, Bullet throws in a whole bandolier and ruptures the airlock; seems reasonable).

Bullet navigated the station and found a sympathetic guard who helped her lock off the station. She then threatened to kill him anyway. After being talked down, an additional boarding party retrieved the scientists and secured the science vessel as the Spirit of the Drill's fighters took out the missile tubes on the station.

Mission succeeded with all objectives achieved and no casualties. In light of this, the team is now officially part of the Coalition of Worlds.

...I wonder if we'll have a Galen Erso spinoff in another twenty years. Cause that's a pretty interesting turn too. Sure, Finn was a stormtrooper, but him aside (okay fine Anakin) we've never had an Imperial protagonist and I think it'd be something interesting for the Star Wars Stories to explore.

I disagree. Cassian's arc was indeed the most robust, but it's much more than "kill dad"/"won't kill dad". He starts out doing the Rebellion's dirty work, maybe not happy to do it but realizing that it needs to be done. (Shooting the informant at the start; watching it on Blu-Ray I realized that Cassian knew that this guy was dead the minute he said "Erso", because he couldn't risk the Empire getting their hands on what he knew.)

Over the course of the film, he falters - yes, grows a conscience. But add to that him feeling betrayed - he did so much work for the Rebellion, and when it's time to make it absolutely count, for the Rebellion to mean something, the leaders of the Rebellion turn their back on him and don't go for it. He says something along the lines of, "If this doesn't happen, all of the horrible things we've done in the name of the cause were for nothing."

From someone who'll follow orders to do bad things, to questioning orders to do bad things, to downright going rogue (no pun intended... mostly) to do the thing that his orders don't have the balls for.

Jyn meanwhile goes from not caring about the cause ("How can you stand to see the Imperial flag?" "Can't see it if you don't look up.") to spearheading that cause when others didn't have the courage to. Yes, she does it more out of respect for her father, at least at first, but she realizes the importance of what she's caught up in.

Saw, I agree, was mostly wasted. Knowing there was more of him shot makes me wonder what it was, but since the release was so stingy with special features (no deleted scenes at all for a release that was saved in massive reshoots and reedits after the fact) it's hard to know what that might have been. He was serviceable.

Bodhi had gone through his arc before we see him, Chirrut and Baze generally don't have an arc and are there to round out the team and keep them on track. K2 discovered Friendship or something. I still enjoyed the characters and they all were worthwhile in the story, IMO.

Of course, Squiggly, I'm sure that you'll disagree with me and say that I'm reading too far into it, where I could come back saying that you need to just pay attention. In the end, you didn't enjoy the movie, and no amount of, "Um, actually," will change that. But on this one in particular I felt I had to speak up.

(By the way, it strikes me that this topic would make more sense in the "Pitches" subforum, as it's pitching ideas around a theme rather than a concrete thing that has been created or is being created. Teague, is moving the thread something that can be done, or in your opinion something that even makes sense?)

I heard talkt hat SyFy wants to turn that around and actually be, you know, good again. Worth seeing if they actually follow through but an admission on the part of the head of the company that they've lost what they're about was at least refreshing to hear.

Too cynical for hope, but paying attention at least. In the meantime, um,there's always YouTube.

Okay, here's a thought. Big businessman, call him Skinner. Totally on the up-and-up, you see (his shadier dealings going through intermediaries so it can't be traced back). Big and successful but when he tries to push into a market, someone pushes back, and no matter how he goes, this other keeps matching and pushing back, like a shadow where your hand meets a wall.

So Skinner hires Pepperjack to not just assassinate, but investigate who this Shadow is.

Cue seedier underworld mob connections, interrogations, an epiphany from a single expense report. Pepperjack even gets so close as to get someone working for Shadow on her trail, and trying to contact her.

Finally, Pepperjack meets with Skinner to disclose her findings. It turns out that the man behind Shadow... is Skinner himself, unwittingly, and with no direct malice down the line - just people removed from him and doing what they were told. By any means necessary.

So she pulls out her gun, and shoots him. As he requested. The look of shock still frozen on his face. And as she leaves, she places a call. "The Shadow's competition will no longer be a concern. You know where to put the money? Wonderful."

I like it but that's a long way to go for a cheese preference pun.

Kibo, yay open source character kinda idea! I'll have to think for a while and see if I can come up with something to contribute.

One of those is not sold in separate 1,000 packs, just as 250 with 15 other colors, and it will be the end of me.

Or I do a slightly slimmer, three-color gradient to the glow instead of four-color.

Made a lightsaber in Perler beads for my co-worker.

As Nate Caauwe said, "Obi-Juan. Now there's a name I've not heard in a long time. A long time."

I'm going through phases with the hobby, putting out a few pieces then taking a break, then coming back. Our kit is getting bigger though and it's providing the impetus to finally clean up the spare bedroom - since we moved in (three and a half years ago) it's where all of the boxes went when there was no specific place for them and it's not a usable room of the house. Now we're starting to work on turning it into a workshop of sorts.

Let me know who's in this week. Shore leave hijinks will likely be better left unsaid; what happens ashore stays ashore.

Huh... gives me some motivation to actually finish my part on my own.

Today is not that day. I just sorta had everything synced and gave it a listen. Kinda like the babble at the start, same dynamic as an orchestra tuning up.

Eventually I'll clean up audio, balance it, and give it some light panning. Anything past that is beyond me.

PUPPY

Is anyone else available this week? I had a conversation with Shadow for while he's on the ship where stuff is happening while the rest of you are on shore leave; I'm down for running a side "shore leave hijinks" session this Sunday if anyone likes since Shadow can't join. (Shadow, if you can point Toby and Alex here to comment or at least relay to me their Sunday availability, I'd be appreciative.)

Welcome good sir! Looking forward to seeing you around these parts. You can go back to my introduction (I forget if it was any good, aside from something about Teague and my sister), but in short, I like popcorn movies, I'm currently running a tabletop RPG campaign in the Friends in Your Dungeon subforum, and [third item because lists are supposed to be composed of three items]. Oh, YouTube somethingorother, that's the ticket.

Good call, thanks man, and thanks for the heads up.

That's awesome man! I'm sorry I missed it, no excuse, I just spaced making sure one of my older games would still work on my system. Then played it for a few hours v.v
