"Right, right, I get that you're not a fan of bagpipes. But what if we added a didgeridoo?"

"...What?"

Interesting. I could see that being done well but it'd have to be with a very delicate touch. Sounds like they had meant well but didn't quite have the finesse to pull it off?

In the meantime, I'll try to give a two-sentence blurb on each from having read it through myself. I'll throw my personal conjecture into parentheses. I suppose this lets Writhyn know how clearly some of it comes across and if any of it needs clearing up.

Conlin / Control: [M] Captain of the MRS Hyacinth.

Blue: [F] Con's sister. Used to be on the Hyacinth's crew but has since gotten her own ship. Has returned to the Hyacinth for this one expedition. Not happy with how fast Con and Finch have grown close. (Maybe feels like her spot on the crew, and as his confidant, has been replaced?)

Finch: [F] Crew, Hyacinth. Con's girlfriend (wife via shotgun wedding?).

Grimm: [M] Crew, Hyacinth. Especially good friends, if somewhat antagonistic, with Argus.

Argus: [M] Crew, Hyacinth. Ditto to Grimm. "Those two guys" sorta dynamic.

Dreadnought: [M] Prospector, not part of the Hyacinth's crew. Vouched for by Finch, at least somewhat untrusted by the rest. Younger than the rest of the crew.

Eric Temple: [M] Captain of a ship operated by a rival corporation. Has captured and is attempting to ransom the MRS Corvus and her crew. (Note: If not cast yet, is a perfectly gender-neutral part.)

Ember: [F] Captain of the Corvus, good friends with the Hyacinth crew.

Station: [M] The Hyacinth's contact with "Corporate". Plays the party line of caring about money and not people. (Note: Also gender-neutral. I forget if multiple people respond as "Station" over the course of the series, so might be multi-cast.)

I am super psyched to be a part of this.

Teague and the child eventually run into another, similar pair, but one that places slightly different emphasis on different parts of the story; different "favorite parts" as it were.

This is why the Gospels don't always match up.

With Toby on the west coast and having to work late to boot, we're switching the scheduled gaming time back to Sunday. Next session will be Sunday the 22nd at 8PM Eastern, 5PM Pacific.

We're playing tomorrow.

It's not a question.

tongue

Who else will be on? I'll have a new player joining us as well.

REMINDER: This is tomorrow! Noon US Eastern, 5PM UTC, 9AM US Pacific.

I agree that there was a lot of "they fight, because it's in the title". I enjoyed the fighting but as MCU grows it's one I may skip in marathons. Depends on how its own actions are paid off later down the line.

Yup! Juan told me today that he fought it and YouTube released it. I guess they're excepting use in fanfilms which blows my mind; I thought blind eye worked until it was taken down, then you were left with no recourse. So yeah, check it out, folks tongue

Watched Assassin's Creed. Really enjoyed it. The biggest departure from the games - the armature Animus instead of just an immobile bed - was used VERY well. My favorite scene was probably the escape chase after the execution. My least favorite was the missing final act - I felt that London should have been a bigger, more action-oriented set piece.

It would have been very nice to show how synchronized Kal is with his ancestors. Dude's been accepted into the brotherhood by manifestations of his genetic ancestors, let's watch him do more than slit a throat, eh?

As it was, it still wrapped up, but with a bit too much fat for just a scene - they were obviously setting up for another. The movie being as good as it was, Ubisoft being Ubisoft and this being Assassin's Creed, I have no doubt we'll see more.

Holy shit . Destin put up a new video on Prince Rupert's drops, wherein a bullet fired at the bulb of one does not directly destroy the drop , instead sending a shock down to the fragile tail. Still watching but needed to share immediately.

Booo sad Didn't notice since it's not on my channel. I'll recommend to him that he put it on Vimeo.

You gain one, you lose one. BDA's out. I'll probably record some Let's Play footage then be editing, will be down for just hanging out in Skype during that second part if people want.

So it's somewhat reasonable to assume that me, BDA and ShadowDuelist are on for tomorrow night (12/27) - is anyone else able to play? If not we'll just reconvene in the new year.

Hey all! Big thanks again to everyone that joined me while streaming lightsaber visual effects and sound effects work. Here's the fruit of those labors - Flick One!

Yeah, it was delivered a bit too punny. You're right in that he's had quips - "Apology accepted," "The Emperor is not as forgiving as I am," - but never puns and never with essentially a wink.

Oh BS he'd keep him cooling his heels just to make him sweat. Brush some invisible ash off the shoulder... take your time with it tongue

The helmet was the right size but in general he felt too short, so it seemed outsized by comparison. He should have towered over Krennic.

Nah, taking it off, sorry. Visual effects and sound design on five lightsabers in a two and a half minute fight is involved, who knew? Sound work on stream tonight if anyone's interested.

How's Saturday around 5PM for you guys (noon Eastern)? Or would you rather push back a couple hours and make it an after-dinner thing?

Hey all. I was glancing through the original FIYD thread and saw that there were a lot of people potentially interested in playing that weren't able to, primarily because of timezones but other conflicts as well. So what I'd like to do is run a one-off session of Actual Cannibal Shia LaBeouf trying to get more people who were interested in participating.

WHO: You! Particularly if you're interested in this whole tabletop RPG thing, but haven't been able to commit to a campaign or our usual Tuesday evening (US east coast) playtime.

WHAT: Actual Cannibal Shia LaBeouf pits your simply made character against a vicious killer in the form of Hollywood superstar Shia LaBeouf. The game is based around the central joke and ideas from Rob Cantor's song, "Shia LaBeouf". If you want to see what a previous session is like that we ran, you can check out The Cannibal Cruise.

The six-page rulebook can be found here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B96988 … 1MY00/view

WHEN: Saturday or Sunday, January 7-8. We'll pick one. Exact time of day TBD once we see who all is in and what time zone they're in. Update: Looking like 17:00 UTS, or Noon Eastern US.

WHERE: Skype. PM me, or otherwise get to me via other social media, your handle and we'll get you in.

WHY: I chose Shia because it's a very easy system, it's somewhat silly, but it lets newcomers get their feet wet in roleplaying and in a very very basic combat system. It also lets me not worry about prep for the most part! And I want to do it in general because I know there are people who are interested that haven't been able to join us for whatever reason.

HOW: Post here that you're interested, say what time of day (and which day, Saturday or Sunday) and what timezone you're in (or if you can do the conversion for me just do it in UTC). Don't worry about making a character or anything like that - we'll do it all on the day of.

I expect the game to go for around four hours, so try to think of windows of time you have with about that much.

Who's in?

Oh, we're marking spoilers in a thread marked "Spoilers" in the title? Alright.

Spoilers! Show
I pretty much knew going in that they were going to do a Halo: Reach. "Huh, a prequel directly preceding the first entry, with characters that aren't in the first entry. Alright, line 'em up and knock 'em down." That being said I still enjoyed the trip very much.

I look forward to a second viewing; the first was full of surprises, some of which may have been a bit too distracting (Red/Gold Leaders was my personal favorite, having heard those exact lines many times before in succession), so being able to focus on just what's being said in the first Tarkin scene will be welcome.

As for Tarkin himself, my wife and I first thought he was just going to be played in one scene, in a reflection; it was certainly more convincing. The facial animation was astounding, on par with the best stuff from this year's Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV at its very best - but that still sits with a foot dipped in the uncanny valley when placed next to live action. Movements just too fluid, and so forth. I found the Cushing vocal impersonation to be perfectly fine. Leia only had one shot that didn't last long enough for me to pick apart, loved it.

Vader's first scene was... eesh. Maybe a year after Anakin assuming the mantle, but not a day before he storms the Tantive IV and does curls with Captain Antilles. He was too restless, too chatty, didn't sound right, and oh my GOD did you just say, "Don't choke on your ambitions"? I have a mind to smack you for that, Vader.

I was okay with Evanzen and Ponda Baba but felt the camera lingered on them just a bit too long; and R2 and 3PO were definitely shoehorned.

The pacing at the start was a bit breakneck.

Aaand that's it for my nitpicks. That's how film critique works, right, point out the stuff that bugged you?

I absolutely loved this movie. Maybe more than TFA; obviously too soon to tell. Ragtag bunch of misfits saving the galaxy; pretty much what it's all about.

Let's not LOSE OUR HEADS
