I don't know what disturbs me about that picture more. The things attached to their noses or their codpieces.

Tomahawk:

That may be the case, but I always thought that the handles the Time Lords used were for those who left Gallifrey and went out into the universe, those who had assignments or were adventurers. I certainly don't think all Time Lords chose a mantle.

And my interpretation is that he's not himself. He's not The Doctor anymore. He says:

  Show
"Warrior. I don't suppose there's any need for a doctor anymore. Make me a warrior, now."

Then at the very end:

  Show
"Doctor, no more."

[Edit] Also relevant: http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2013-11- … rts-doctor

And that's why War Doctor is stupid. I see it as the show cowing to the fear that people might not realize he is the Doctor, which is kind of insulting because we're all smart enough to know who he is.

You know what bugs me most?

  Show
The title "The War Doctor". I hate it. In the webisode, he calls himself "The Warrior". Much better. I know they credited John Hurt as "The War Doctor", but I hope to god they call him "The Warrior" in the show.

Think about it: The Doctor. The Master. The Valeyard. The Corsair. The..... War Doctor? Honestly?

I'm looking forward to Christmas for the EE. C'mon Santa, don't let me down!

How are the extra scenes?

@BDA:

I think at lot of your angst comes down to the fact that it's a webisode with a compressed timeframe and lower budget than the show. I mean, the whole thing takes place on, what, three tiny sets? I agree with you; it would have had more resonance if the scenes were longer and had more time to breathe and the acting was a little less bombastic. Although, this is Doctor Who after all. When isn't the acting bombastic in its climactic moments?

  Show
I think the big deal was that no one really thought they'd ever see Paul McGann reprise the doctor, many people assumed we'd never see what happened to the Eighth Doctor, nor had the show yet made it clear just who John Hurt really was in-show.

Persistent rumours or not, until it's in the show proper, it's not part of the story. I was genuinely surprised about most of the revelations, probably because I don't follow Doctor Who outside of sitting down and watching the show itself.

My secret hope for Day of the Doctor is a flashback to Hurt's regeneration into Eccleston's Doctor. I don't even care if all we get is a shot of Eccleston with no dialogue. I'd be happy enough for him to just stand there for 2 seconds with a sad look on his face. And I mean the real Eccleston. Like, went-to-the-set-and-filmed-a-new-scene Eccleston. No more disembodied voices or reflections in windows. I want the real deal. If that happened, it would fill in the palpable gap I've always felt in the series. I know in my heart of hearts though, it's not going to happen.

bullet3, I completely concur with your assessment of Europa Report. It was very good, but not perfect. Yet despite its imperfections, I was so glad to be watching a hard sci-fi movie for the first time since god knows when.

Alright, I'll concede maybe 7/10. The screenwriting's brutal in many spots. But I love it for how unapologetically dark it is. It's almost like a twisted fairy tale.

It reminded me of this. Not swing, but kind of, like, electro-lounge-jazz?

Fettes Brot

German hip hop. Very Beastie Boys, but also a healthy mix of pretty much every other genre you can think of. RIDICULOUSLY talented arrangement and they have a fantastic backing band.

I don't understand a word of it, but it doesn't stop the awesome.

It wasn't properly launched. Things kind of ground to a halt before it could and I didn't speak up because I didn't want to nag people.

My bad. I didn't know I was given the role. To my understanding, I thought we were still waiting for Dorkman to audition for it as well.

That being said, I'll see if I can't churn something out tonight. If not, I've plenty of time tomorrow. I'd help out with finding actresses, but there's really not anyone around who can put up believable accents.

No worries, Tomahawk. Dorkman intimated that he was going to be too busy to do it and I had said no rush and that he could audition if he wanted. Never heard back from him, so the role was in limbo. It's yours now, officially. Like I said in an earlier post, I should have imposed audition deadlines.

Any time you can get something to me would be awesome. Thanks so much.

Right on. So what do you have so far, what has yet to happen at all, and what do you want to be happening right now?

Well, we have Tomahawk, Teague, BDA, drewjmore, Rob and Saniss lined up for voice work. drewjmore has already submitted his work for Gustav. So far, he's the only one who's given me a file.

Both Dorkman and Eddie expressed interest at one point in contributing, but Dorkman pretty much bowed out as he was too busy (though I never got confirmation) and I haven't heard boo from Eddie.

We have 4 characters in need of actors. 2 are female roles, one requires a Chinese accent and one is a one-liner that Eddie was going to be doing but again, haven't heard from him.

I've recorded the narration. I may re-record it since I just recently got a pop filter.

What I'd like from you guys is to get your stuff recorded and sent to me. You can put your stuff here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/qqjf31udbm7n5zt/XLhvsbvJQZ. Hopefully that link works.

BDA did express interest in doing some kind of graphics for the title card. If that feels like too much to do, lemme know and I'll do a static image instead.

Again, I didn't update the thread because I didn't want to nag you guys about volunteer work. I'm glad to know there's still interest in the project smile

I linked to the story a couple times before. There's no script; you'll just have to find your character's lines in the story and highlight them.

Here's the link again: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6rdispo5ac5br … 20Mohr.pdf

And no, you're right Teague, we haven't officially started yet. I was hoping those people who were locked into roles could do their recordings and then I'd have to hound everybody else for their auditions. At this point, I might just start picking the people who've actually responded and auditioned over those who haven't.

My hope was to have enough community involvement to have each character played by a community member. We might not be able to do that, given the response so far. We're also missing two female characters.

Thanks for the offer, drew. I'd like to still keep the variety in the cast if possible for now, but if it becomes clear some people have bowed out you'll be the first person I'll come to.
