Note, I own an electric drumkit. It's pretty decent, but if someone here wants to bring actual acoustic drums to the project, that's even better.

Still being at season 5, I just want to say that holy crap, there's like everyone from Game of Thrones in this show.

I almost can't believe it, it's finally coming out. Eight years, I've been waiting for this. And it's gonna be awesome.

Okay, 5x01 is watched. I'm already loving the hell outta this.

That, or Mars is way further than we thought and actually orbits Albireo. Yeah. That must be it.

Gee, people, that is an awesome thing to do indeed. One story with each doctor from the original series. I didn't even think about this.

As for the revival, I'm gonna follow Teague and start with series 5, then 6, then start again from 1.

Thanks.

If I'm to begin with the three latest Docs, I guess I might as well begin with Eccleston, to respect at least some kind of chronological order, and that's already seven seasons. I easily forget how many goddamn years this series has been on.

Okay folks, I'm tired of not being a Doctor Who guy. So. Where to begin? I read something in this thread about beginning with season 6, but I'm not even sure what's that supposed to mean.

Should I maybe start with the very beginning of the series? The 2005 revival? Any suggestions on the best way to go with this?

C'est lui... Docteur Qui. Il voyage dans le TARDIS... La boîte de téléphone fantastique d'espace. L'intérieur est beaucoup plus grand que l'extérieur. Et ça c'est le mystère du Docteur Qui !

I'd be happy with an extended deadline too. I haven't had time to finish what I had planned on making yet.

Looks great, almost exactly like a long exposure shot of the moon.

You could consider the space sphere as a robot boob, but it's not my contribution, just a reference to Portal 2.
I have an idea but I'm not happy with my first result from tonight.

That, is a hi-res picture of Curiosity's heat shield, a few seconds after separating from the rover.

This is truly awesome.

Before we get too carried away, we did all this (and a lot more) in the 1970s.

I should have added "once again". Amazing space stuff has been made several times before, but it just doesn't get old. I mean, they sent a fucking robot to Mars. Damn.

We have a one-ton car currently touching the surface of Mars. That ridiculously far ball of rock. Goddammit, that's fucking awesome.

(after Zarban's speech, I think I have nothing more to say for the time being)

EDIT : Okay, a bit more.

Today, it has been proved what mankind is capable of. This is the exact kind of things we need to focus on. Knowledge. Curiosity. That's what this is all about. Discovering, exploring the universe surrounding us. I have never been more into astronomy than I am today.

This mission gives me a hint of all that is yet to come. I feel sad knowing that tons of amazing discoveries will be made after I kick the bucket, but when I see how fast spacecraft technologies evolve and space knowledge grows, I truly think the next decades will bring us things we don't even expect yet.

God, I love our universe.

Here's what the Sun's chromosphere showed yesterday:

I saw this with my own eyes with a special solar telescope we own at the astronomy center I'm currently working at. I almost shed a tear, I had never observed such a big prominence before (with my own eyes).

And since the Sun's activity is still growing, there's probably more to come this summer. Yay.

And here's an animated gif of its evolution (1h15 total).

(I realize this thread was originally about space travel and stuff, but I figured it could be a general astronomy thread, as the Astrophotography one is a different matter)

You know, I'm already planning on doing a guitar cover for Winter Wrap Up... My life is ruined.
