Why am I the only person who seems to like that?

Zarban is powerful, but I'm not sure he's that powerful.

Flat Footed Apocalypse got an IMDB page from submitting to a short film festival which didnt have an entry fee on withoutabox.

You dont need to be accepted, but it is notoriously difficult to update your page once it is up.

That was really nicely put together iJim. How'd you get the ghostbusters shot?

on the Raiders commentary Dorkman says about how Indy being captured at the end wouldn't happen in a modern film. I'd be interested in a discussion on how film pacing has changed over different decades

I don't know about that side of the pond but in the UK it boils down to if you can see their face then no one is going to distribute your film but if its blurred out or covered then you are fine.

Casablanca is one of my favourite films, some brilliant dialogue in there. feels much more modern in a lot of ways.

This one really felt like it was wrapping up just as it was getting started. I'd love for these to be a tad longer.

That's really useful I've noted it down to give a go.

I actually used a lens flare just out of frame on the left hand monitor above to help cover the join and Ornsack added one to the explosion to cover a multitude of sins.

Thats great thanks Teague!

How complicated is it to do a screen replacement if the focus racks over to an actor then back to the screen?

would it be easier with the screen set to blue and keying it or will it be a roto job anyway?

I recently moved house from a city near the countryside to somewhere much more urban and decided to make one last film for the road, to say goodbye as it were. An action movie naturally.

It will probably end up being a mock up trailer andI've been doing lots of gun shots, screen replacements and a bloody big explosion So I thought I'd share a few still whilst I crack on.

That's me as a grumpy scientist not long for this world. I've had a lab coat for a while from a film that wasn't finished so I keep using it in shorts to feel like I've gotten my moneys worth!

and finally my first crack at a screen replacment, gotta love those corner pins.

Are the TOS new effects not well thought of?

It's a very mixed bag. The colour grading and new matte paintings are fantastic but the CG ship stuff is hit and miss. When it's good it really is good but most the time it didnt meet the standard of Enterprise which had already been off the air for a few years.

I believe the plan was to have Gary Hutzel who had worked on TNG and DS9 and was currently doing BSG come in and supervise it but CBS had just bought the rights to Trek had decided they owned a CG house and that since the original show had about 4 flybys they could do it.

of course they didnt want to just recreat the original stock shots that got used over and over so they had much more work then they expected.

they bought a fan model of the Enterprise which had far too much detail and took far too long to render. Apparently you could zoom in to see screws on the bulkhead.

after the first batch of episodes (they did them out of order) they made a lower pologon version which gave them more useable shots

It would have been great if it was 1999 and you can't really hold up the original grainy model shots as being better but it just felt like it could have been better.

hope I explained that alright, its late and i'm tired

Woo and Hoo! TNG is getting a blu-ray release next year and it sounds like they are recompositing the original model shots rather then doing a half hearted CG replacement!

The choice of episodes for the first release seemed a tad odd until the video explained they all won awards.

Now the competitions over I've been able to put it up on youtube in HD.
