...man, listen to the music by itself, too. Fuck yeah, dude. Supremely good shit.
Was listening to Trey's story about Steve Johnson telling him not to blink the puppet's eyes during rehearsals.
Hm. The codes... nuthin.' Dunno about Eddie's recipes. Here's the schedule graphic — thanks, btw.
I used the same one-hour mixdown thingy for the last LCC pre-stream, actually, so you can hear that here:
*ninja*
I'm over the moon about this fight scene, for the record. So fucking good.
Great job.
Alright, folks. Let's talk evolution.
In this "interim" period — well, assumed interim period, assuming there's going to be some other formal reason for this forum existing in the future — I think it'd be fun to do some tiny little experiments with the boardsystem.
There's currently two community-amusement initiatives going on — the "movie club" thing, and the "Friends in Your Dungeon" thing — and if they catch on as something that enough people enjoy doing, they both strike me as the kinds of projects that would benefit from having a dedicated board. Like, we already have "Off-Topic" and "Episodes," and we could also add "FIYH Movie Club" and "FIYH Gamin' Dungeon." Or whatever.
I wouldn't want to make a change like that only to have it dwindle two weeks later, and as such I'm hesitant to be hasty about it... but, it does seem like it'd be a cool thing to do if turned out to be worth it.
My question for you is twofold, and we shall commence in a vibrant discussion of your ensuing opinions.
1. Do you like the idea semi-formalizing community efforts like this?
2. While we're at it, do you have any pitches / brainstorms / ideas for additional ones?
Alright, folks. Let's get naked.
No, what? Is that not what you were thinking? That's not what I was thinking, I thought that was what you were thinking.
Okay, jesus, lemme start over.
*still watching thread from behind a tree trunk*
That was absolutely stunning.
The only thing that caught my attention as being something that could use more work was the horn blaring. If that's meant to be the bus horn, I feel like it should be dripped with some "distance" effects that diminish as the bus gets closer. Right now the FX on it seem pretty dry and immediate, which would indicate that it's close, but it's fairly quiet, which indicates that it's not close, and it kinda stands out. Maybe do some lowpass fuckwithery as the horn gets closer, hair of reverb toward the beginning, and it gets louder as it approaches?
Like I said, that is the only thing that I can imagine working on any more. This is really impressive.
Not really — they were streamed but not archived. You mean the pre-roll packets we made with the MuggleNet hosts?
Hm. I think I have a ZIP file of the MuggleNet videos that we ended up with. Lemme dig.
EDIT: Yep, I do. It's 600 megs, though. I'm gonna re-download it and maybe throw the clips up on YouTube unlisted-style.
Done.
Done.
I'm not gonna actually edit the song in Premiere. I'm just doing the comping in Premiere.
btw, here's the unlisted "original" DIF commentary for this movie.
I find every word in this thread intimidating, but have managed to protect a small little glowing sphere of interest and curiosity from being totally destroyed.
Just keepin' y'all up to speed. The sphere is still glowing. It's scared, yes — but it's glowing.
Wait — I'm confused, are we meant to be discussing the movie yet? The intended timeline and order of events is a bit unclear to me.
The chat at fiyh.com/live still works. You could use that.
So, just for my information, would you/anyone be interested in me doing a follow-up series on Layout?
I'm definitely curious.
I've got to tell ya, this whole "teach Owen Lightwave" thing — the videos, all of it — might be my favorite ongoing project.
Goin' live here in a little while. Got some transcoding to do first — don't wanna make you guys (and me) watch a progress bar slide by. Maybe an hour? I'll add a little red recording icon to the announcement bar when I'm live.
Also, Spork, until I'm done editing, I can still squeeze ya into the edit.
For whatever it's worth, here's a high-rez version of that graphic.
You are so fucking cool.
I made a graphic and put it in the banner. Wanna give this thing as fair-a-shake at getting some attention as possible.
