I'd say that Arya leaving the Hound is almost certain. Virtually nothing else happens in that storyline between the Red Wedding and the end of the book.
Other than that, probably a shit ton of cliffhangers. I'm betting on Jon's story ending with the Wildlings about to attack Castle Black. Not much is going on at King's Landing, though. It's gonna be a weird hour.

I need to get hold of some MST3K to watch. Somehow.
You can watch pretty much any episode imaginable on YouTube.

Just read each word individually and closely. It's a really common trick of the mind.

It just makes her storyline cleaner, I think. That way they're built up as her main opponents for the season, and the House of the Undying scene is more dramatic.
Jorah getting banished would be a great way to end Dany's storyline for this season. And it would also be a HUGE twist for non-book-readers, who have been made to heavily sympathize with Jorah over his unrequited love for Dany in recent episodes. Book-Jorah always came across as kind of a creep to me. A well-meaning creep, but a creep nonetheless, and I wasn't too broken up to see him go. Loved his stuff with Tyrion in ADWD though.

What if Ned lied to protect his sister's honor? He finds a baby that is one of the heirs to the Targaryen dynasty, and he can't bring himself to kill it. Just like he argues fervently against assassinating Dany in the first book. So he takes it home and pretends that it's his bastard.
Besides, with all the mystery surrounding his true mother, wouldn't it be boring for it just to be some random chick?
I also loved Upstream Color. It's definitely a better film than Primer, which was Carruth at his roughest and least filtered. It's also a more emotionally engaging film. Primer gets a little bit too caught up in the science to actually be about anything. Upstream Color shows exactly the kind of film that Carruth wants to make, and I'm so excited about where he goes next.

My favorite theory is that Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark are his true parents.
I'm calling it now: Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In) will direct Star Trek 3. He's already got a relationship with Abrams producing his stuff, and he's got geek cred from previous projects. If his Rise of the Planet of the Apes sequel is good, I think that the franchise is in the bag for him.

We'd need a separate FORUM, man.
Also, just created a readers-only thread.
Let's say that anything in all 5 books is fair game, so if you've yet to finish the series, stay away until you do.
...
So, what should we talk about?

ShowThe Purple Wedding is just a name used to describe Joffrey's wedding. Presumably because his face goes purple.
Continuing the book spoilers:
ShowOh man I always love when people say that. Too precious. It's called purple because it is the color of the jeweled hair net Sansa wears, which the Tyrells use to poison Joffrey.
I'm definitely up for a book-reader thread.
I know that's technically the real reason, but I want to believe!
ShowThe problem with moving Joffrey's wedding up is that it would severely accelerate the Tyrion and Sansa storylines. Tyrion isn't in the dungeons for very long before he kills Tywin, as far as I remember, and Sansa doesn't do much after Joff's death before she and Littlefinger abscond to the Vale. Could you do a whole season with Tyrion in prison and Sansa at the Vale? It's certainly possible. But more than likely they'll end it with Lady Stoneheart. I mean, the episode title literally means "Mother." That's a dead giveaway right there.
MAJOR STORM OF SWORDS SPOILERS

ShowSeeing the reaction to this, I REALLY can't wait for the Purple Wedding, presumably early next season. Hell, they might even push it to next week's finale, just to make fans feel better.

Just because it's called that doesn't mean that it doesn't contain so much more. The major events of the series are motivated by desire for power, but the show has so much more going on, which is why it's such a great show.
Nope. Not really. Political strife is indeed all there is to the show. Hardly a single character has any motivation other than power, lust, and lust for power. It's like The Phantom Menace on TV, except there's 20 Palpatines and like 3 Anakins and a slave girl's tits now and then.

With all due respect, and as someone who's watched more than the first season, you're wrong about the show.

So, you're saying it's NOT predictable? No longer is almost every character an asshole who relentlessly insults and schemes against purported friends and allies as well as enemies?
I assume you don't follow United States politics, then...
And even besides that, that statement's a massive generalization. It describes maybe half the characters, or not even that. The show spends just as much time on that as it does on Sansa or Bran or Arya or Davos or any number of other characters who don't spend any time scheming and plotting. It sounds like someone showed you a clip reel of Littlefinger scenes and left it at that. The show is so much more than political strife.
Game of Thrones really isn't like anything else on TV. Name another show that's done something even CLOSE to what they did last night.

ShowTHIS SUMMER...THE ROOSE IS LOOSE
Apparently, the original idea was that the movie would take place in the modern day, and would be identical thematically. Instead of a crashed spaceship, it would be a crashed car, in a remote mountain region. I can't even imagine how much better that movie would be.

Eleven should regenerate into Sean Bean...who is IMMEDIATELY stabbed in the gut and regenerates into someone else.
You should cover Scarborough Fair.
Once again, he relies way too heavily on a racial perspective, but the paragraph on the whole "fear" thing as it relates to the film was pretty interesting. There's an argument to be made that the whole "fear isn't real, rid yourself of it" theme is actually a terrible moral. So once again I find myself torn when it comes to Armond. As a review, I have no idea if he liked the film or not. But unlike much of his stuff, he wasn't just pulling it out of his ass here. He has a unique critical perspective sometimes, and I kind of have to admire how against-the-grain he goes in terms of his approach to criticism. In a weird way, I'm glad he exists, even if he is mostly baiting people with his reviews. If only he had any integrity or any real-life points to make, he'd be a great critic.
That said, Dorkman's comparison of him to Ignatius Reilly is pretty spot-on.
