Didn't the Norton movie explain that his Hulk transformation is based on heart rate? And at the end of that movie it showed him meditating. Maybe he learned to control his heart rate, like a monk. I'm pretty sure the old TV show had a plotline dealing with that.
Squiggly_P wrote:I vehemently disagree with your assertion that the film's mostly taking place on the airship is a flaw. I, personally, was relieved when I saw that they were mostly staying on the ship. I was so worried that they'd try to go to twenty different locations and be intercutting separate scenes of the various heroes tracking down different targets or something and only coming together at the end, etc.
See, that's exactly what I wanted to see. This should have been an epic film, but in order to do that it needed scope. Things happen so quickly that nothing comes across as important.
"Oh no, Loki separated the Avengers! That was his master plan that we spent the last 45 minutes building up to! How will they ever...oh, they're already back together again?" Talk about anticlimactic.
Ironically, that's the main reason that I tend to avoid superhero comics. They have too much scope, they're impossible to follow without buying and reading every single book, like you mentioned.
I like it when people read Doc's reviews.
You should read Doc's reviews.

So it's like the film equivalent of chinese food? Tastes great, but an hour later you need to go watch it again?
Yup. And in fact I did! I saw it twice in the same day, assuming that it would be better the second time around. Still nothing.

Okay, now that I've seen it, I can offer my reaction...
Meh. Fun to watch, but ultimately less fulfilling than the films that preceded it.
They shot this secretly only a week or two ago, and Chris Evans had grown a beard for another project since they wrapped filming. So he had to wear a prosthetic on his face to cover it up. He could barely move his jaw.
We passed 20,000!

I heard somewhere that Thanos will be the villain in Avengers 2, and Avengers 3 will basically be Civil War.
Oh, I haven't seen the movie yet. That's just something I've heard from people who have.
I'm seeing it on Saturday.
Apparently, in the US there's a scene of them all eating dinner or something. Nothing special.
Did my shooting today. I think I'm going to win the award for most takes. I got out of the car in three different locations.
I despised Tree of Life. As much as I liked the "Creation" sequence, the movie as a whole was total bullshit. If Malick had made a 45 minute space porn IMAX film, I would have forked over the cash. I'm just glad I only paid a buck for it at Redbox.

Over 3 (technically less, cause we migrated servers and lost everything) years?
That's on average 27.9 posts per user per year.
Color me not impressed.

I'm feeling a "20,000th post" party.
I've recently come to love Citizen Kane. When you go in expecting the Best Movie Ever, it may be disappointing. But watch it without that baggage, and I think it works really really well.

EDIT: Except Eddie. Eddie can like it if he wants.
Pick a weapon.

Here's a working definition of art that I have. It isn't fully fleshed out, and it's pretty broad, but I like it. Art is something that was consciously shaped and molded and created in order to provoke some sort of emotional response in others.
To make this extra challenging, I chose my movies by shooting Nerf darts at my DVD shelf.
First act of The Social Network
Second act of The Breakfast Club
Third act of Memento
It's called Remembering the Zuck.
I don't think that the blanket statement "video games are not art" can possibly be correct. Anything can be art, but not every example of that thing has to be. Is Call of Duty art? I don't think so. Is Braid art? Yes, unquestionably.
Think we could get a "Special Thanks" list in the video description? I bet all of us have friends helping us out that will otherwise get no recognition.
I try to go into any movie without any excess baggage. I walked into The Descendants and Rise of the Planet of the Apes with about the same mindset. I like the film itself to form an opinion, rather than me forcing my own feelings on the film.
Is it that none of them are wearing hats or helmets? I think Eddie said something about that on the Hurt Locker commentary.
