I've had dark feelings about/towards this movie since the trailers started flowing, glad to see they weren't unfounded.

I'm still waiting for the day when something (anything) is able to pull off a prequel/sequel to Wizard of Oz as effectively as Wicked does. Given this, it seems a long way off.

And Sg-1 didn't really start to become really political until at least season 4 or 5.

I still disagree with that. Hashtags are a quick, efficient way of giving context to an image or whatever you're linking on any site. Of course, I've never actually used hashtags for what they were originally designed for, so I may be biased.

Typically I'll use tga's for most stuff, although I find myself use png more lately, but I haven't been doing a lot of vfx stuff lately.

I've always felt there was more to Barty Crouch Jr. than we ever found out.

I mean seriously, A) He spends an ENTIRE year pretending to be Moody, and NO ONE figured it out. Dude had to have some serious insider knowledge on Moody no one knew about. B) He spent that entire year actually helping everyone, setting aside the whole actually teaching Harry a lot of stuff that helped him against Voldy, he helped Neville too. Always felt like an interesting quirk.

And as far as why the end of the year. I think it's mostly because Voldy needed that much time to get back enough strength and get everything else figured out. Plus I highly doubt he was just lying around waiting for Harry to get sent to him. I'm sure he was starting to get in touch with his old forces, testing the waters.

That's just me though. I have a much harder time dealing with Barty being Moody for a whole year, than why Voldy decided to not spring on Harry 3 months after he was reborn.

My thing was that I was very much into the story, and in the last 20 minutes it told me thy the story I cared about is not what I should have cared about.

It it's the same thing that happened in the book, then yeah...fuck that shit. I hate that flippin "twist" thing at the end of the book.

I got going on a thing in the chat, thought it best to move it here.

I'll be honest, mooooostly here for the Olivia Wilde, but the fact that the rest of the movie looks pretty solid is a nice bonus.

Real magic in the 21st century with Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Woody Harrellson, Mark Ruffallo and Jesse Eisenberg. Um, yes please.

Chris Hadfield, orbiting more than 400km above the earth playing a song live with Ed Robertson. Yeah. I love living in the future.

Also, for some reason this song just really reminded me how much I love Ed's voice.

I just realized there are touring companies of stage musicals, but not plays. Maybe because plays ARE easier to produce, or at least cheaper than most musicals.

Basically it boils down to stage shows are fuuuuucking expensive to put on the road, musical or not. The return on a musical is just going to be better than a straight up play. Most people, if they see a poster or advertiement in passing are much more likely to say let's go see a musical, than let's go see this thing where people talk at each other for 2 and a half hour in front of me. It's a sad fact of theater. So you just aren't as likely to get your money back if you tour a straight stage show, which is unfortunate cause there's quite a few really good shows that I wish would tour so I could go see them.

All I did to get from Squiggy's 2nd pic to this was:

Duplicate the original image over top. Run a Find Edges. Desaturate. Mess with the curves until you manage to get rid of most of the useless lines and darken the outline edges. Multiply it over top.

Obviously you would need to do a bit of hand work to clean up some of the lines, especially in the face...gods that can get creepy in there. But it'll get you 90% of the way there, and brings in a lot of the major inking lines that you're looking for. You you might be able to find a better way to do the face and just bring that in on another layer, depends on what you can find. This is just my first spitball idea that I knocked up in about a minute and a half.
