Shifty huh..  I didn't know my new name was Shifty...

I'm the only Shifty around here....unless, of course, someone else registers and calls themself Shifty....then can I be known as the Scottish one? Oh, unless, of course, the new Shifty is from Scotland.....then I suppose I'd be Shifty 1. Oh, but then people may call me The Shifty One and that's rubbish...then I suppose Mr Bench will do. Oh, then people may think I'm being an arrogant prick.....

My head hurts.

Let me ask you non-iPod guys this: how do you get the show every week? Website download or iTunes?

From the front page of this very site smile

Can anyone think of a reason someone would *need* MP3s as opposed to M4Vs?

Well, personally, I can give you a few-

1. I don't have a M4V compatible MP3 player
2. I sometimes listen to podcasts when I'm on the move (walking, jogging, doing housework) so I wouldn't look at the screen even if I could.
3. If I can watch the film at the same time as listening to the comm (if I have the film), then I'd be paying more attention to the tv screen than anything else.

Just realised that the first point is good enough on it's own and I don't really need the other two big_smile. If you are giving people the choice between the two, then that's fine and my post is irrelevant smile

So, next week's film (at the time of writing) is an 80s movie? Holy shit! The first one since Aliens big_smile

God, I hate The Fifth Element. Well, bits of it. Well, Chris Tucker...

I can't believe He-Man and She-Ra: The Secret of the Sword actually made it to cinemas. Those crazy 80s! big_smile

Not enough 80s movies on that survey for my liking (like the Blob!) But I voted anyway big_smile

Thanks Teague. I shall listen to the commentary tonight smile

Now, when you say you spend time comparing Eternal Sunshine to Inception, are there any spoilers to Chris Nolan's latest film in this commentary? I haven't seen it yet (though I really bloody want to). This can obviously also be open to anyone who has listened to the podcast, not just Teague smile

Cloverfield Love
Titanic Dislike the first half, like it once the ship starts to sink
Avatar Haven't seen
Dune Hate
Gladiator Don't like very much
AI Haven't seen
Alien 3 Dislike
Dead Man's Chest and At World's End DMC is ok, AWE is awful

Then again, I love cheesy 80s movies and could quite happily watch Tango & Cash once a month, so what do I know big_smile

I love Monster Squad in a cheesy retro sort of way. Or how about another Fred Dekker film- Night of the Creeps? It's a classic (in my opinion)

And we're still waiting for a commentary of The Blob movie Trey worked on (another film I loved growing up) big_smile

It was a good time, I enjoyed it. I was getting a drink in the kitchen and I heard 'Shifty Bench?' from the computer, I didn't realize everyone could see I was in the chat room, lol. And Trey dissed the Scots! Yay! big_smile

Ah, conflict for the sake of it. Where I'm from in the forum world, that is what could be known as  (whisper it) a  troll big_smile

And regarding Karen Gillan, photos really don't do her justice. I don't think she's amazing looking, but I've seen her live (and on tv shows in the UK) and she is freaking adorable. I heart her.

I am in love with Karen Gillan. The accent does nothing for me though, I hear it all the time (I'm Scottish)

You guys are killing me, Billie Piper > Karen Gillian.

Oh who am I kidding they're both fugly.

Ok, you have different taste in women than certain other people, there is no need to be nasty about it. 'I don't find her attractive, so I will insult her for no real reason'. Not cool.

Of the ones I have seen-

1. Monster's Inc
2. The Incredibles
3. Toy Story 2
4. Wall-E
5. Up
6. Toy Story
7. A Bug's Life
8. Finding Nemo
9. Cars

Dammit.

I can't think of a bad kid-type movie from the 80s that I love. Some demented people claim that The Goonies is bad, but it's actually one of the greatest movies ever made, so that doesn't count.

I frickin' love The Goonies big_smile

If we're going by guilty pleasures of the 80s I'll say Little Monsters starring Fred Savage. Runner up: Starchaser: The Legend of Orin.

NO, no no no no no no, you are mistaken sir.

The Muppet's Wizard of Oz....the worst piece of shit conceivable, with a grand total of zero redeeming features. Please notify the correct people to have this egregious error remedied.

I was only including Muppet movies that had cinema releases, not TV movies. My opinion still stands smile

I love 80s movies so much and outside of the obvious choices (BTTF, Ghostbusters, Raiders, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Evil Dead 2 big_smile) I can't think of just one favourite. I'll come back to this.

Another suggestion: Toy Soldiers with Sean Astin. Why so rewatchable? Is David Koepp a brilliant screenwriter? or is it Wil Wheaton with an AK?

I'm an unashamed fan of Toy Soldiers. It's shit, but it's fun shit.
I've had a look at the 'could be' commenatry list and if you guys do all of them, I have some films to watch. Looking foward to the Twilight one big_smile
