Uh...alright. I think I'm missing some sort of context here.
IDK, somebody said that Smith never has any serious moments. I'm too lazy to go find who it was.
Edit: Vidina
So there just happened to be a Dr Who martathon on today, and I watched a couple episodes. And I kinda realized something. I think Smiths Doctor is in the same boat as the Comedian. He gets the joke (Not smith, but the actual Doctor himself), he has taken that step back and gone... my life is fucking ridiculous...awesome!...well I guess all I can do is ride the wave.
So that's what gives him his childlike nature, he's just loving the trip. But as soon as the people he loves are in danger, that disappears and he is in serious, kick ass mode.
The episodes I watched specifically were the Hungry Earth 2-parter. So minor spoilers for those ahead. When the doctor is with the chick and they get dragged down to the Homo Reptilus city, he's just feeding off her amazement and what the fuckery, and going "I know right?!" (Also... when she see's the inside of the tardis for the first time...but I mean, everyone has that reaction) but when Amy and Rory got kidnapped he was in full out, "I will find you and kill you." mode, and when he's dealing with the Reptile leaders or whatever he's very serious.
Honestly dude, I think there's a lot more seriousness in Smiths Doctor then you remember. He just only pulls it out when his companions are in danger (Which is...A lot) or when he needs to be, otherwise, he's just loving life and enjoying the bizarro ride.
Duuuuuuuuuuuuude.
An AMA with a 97to that worked all the apollo missions and a bunch of other stuff. Thought you guys would like.
(I haven't had a chance to actually read through any of it, so if it sucks, sorry )
America just needs more cuckoo clocks.
I thought we wanted to reduce violence.
but his childish nature and "I know(from the latest xmas special) is just too much.
Alright I have to pipe up at this one. You can hate the childlike nature, fine whatever. But the "I know" was a gag in the christmas special used for all of about 3 minutes.
*Removed comment because obviously some people have no sense of humour about these things*
Ooo, very pretty. What sort of set up do you have?
Just over a pound. (One of the 1lb bricks)
The project is gonna have to be put on hold for a bit, til I can round up the cash to get some more.
And thanks
NO. You MUST believe what I believe. This is the true and right way of the world, because I am ALWAYS right.
/Slams hammer on desk/
NOW OBEY!
So it's been pretty slow going, but I expected that.
Wire and tinfoil base/core.
First bit of sculpting, just getting the basic forms in...before I ran out of sculpey. 1lb down!
I'm thinking I might have to do the top separately with another wire and tinfoil base in order to give it the support it needs, and then attach it for the actual sculpting.
So yep, it's slowly taking some sort of shape, and I'm slowly realizing just how massive a shape it is.
The sexiness level of this photo is simply off the scales.
Seriously?! I enjoyed the fuck oughta that episode, thought it was among of the best of nuwho (let's say top 10).
Certainly better than the Christmas Carol rip they did.
David Tennant was great, but his companions got progressively more annoying, in my opinion. And RTD's scripts got progressively more ridiculous and mawkish until the finale just threw up on itself and sobbed.
Matt Smitt under Steven Moffat was a wonderful breath of fresh air that is only just starting to go a little stale after last year's season-long shaggy dog story.
Yep. This. All of this.
Love David Tennant, got bored/annoyed with the rest of it...
PS. Soooo... giant sacks of living fat that look like baby Stay Puft marshmallow men?! SERIOUSLY?!?
So much want for the last one and #3.
Well Smith is my Doctor, so any arguments I make in his defense will be immediately shot down. (Tennant is still my favorite, but Smith is my doctor).
But the argument I would make, is that his incarnation hasn't really been given a whole lot of super serious moments to play from a script level. But when he is given those moments, I love the shit out of them, and think he pulls them off nicely.
Please tell me that dude kicks someone. Best. Episode. Ever.
I've never been an Invader Zim guy, but I know there's a bunch of other people on here that love this stuff too.
Natalie Portman & Gary Oldman
An unconscious Karen Gillan. Yes please.
I- wait...uh. Did I say that out loud?
OH.FUCK.YES.Just.Yes.
but I must ask that if your logic is that all NRA members don't care about improving social conditions, then would it stand that nonmembers care?
No. His point was just that the NRA are the most vocal group, and a central location for everyone to point at when it comes to gun control...or lack there of. And they don't give a shit about societal change.
I'm sure there are plenty of people outside the NRA that don't care either.
No, I mean that's just human nature, they get attached to one actors performance, and shun or critisize the rest. The only reason it doesn't happen more in film, is because very rarely does more than one actor play the same character... but when it does, holy shit they'll rip it to pieces.
I mean have you ever gotten in an argument with a die hard fan about who is the better Wonka. Both sides will rip the other to shreds. When personally I think they're both pretty cool interpretations of the character, and enjoy both of them for it.
EDIt: TO actually answer your question. It does affect it, but it's not an issue limited to theater to movie transitions. It's an issue any time they recast a new version of something.
If it has judges to determine a winner, it's a popularity contest, not a sport.
This.
Although now I really want to see a game of like hockey or football scored by judges. You could have points given for originality of victory dances, taunts, flare. It would be awesome.
