I'd seen the that second one before, and the first one pretty cool looking and had some neat ideas (As much as a fake trailer like that can)... but I think I'm starting to turn into a douchebag artist...cause I'm reaaaallly starting to get sick of these 1-2 min fake trailers or just short films that don't actually accomplish anything other than get you to go "Man, the actual thing of that would be so frickin awsome!"
Kinda goes along with the webseries and other threads of the last couple days. Am I the only one really feeling this lately?
But anyways, they're both pretty technically awesome...and that's about all I can say, other than, I really want to see the full movie of that first one.
BLR is a small vfx complany. They do these little shorts to promote themselves. Also remember that a fake trailer is what got Kevin Tancharoen the gig of directing the new Mortal Kombat webseries and the feature-lenght movie.

That's exctlay what they're supposed to do.

EDIT: On further analysis, I am way to tired to be having this conversation in any sort of sensible manner right now.
See the webseries thread for thoughts on visual effects based wankery short films. Apply here.

Phil Tippett interview. Starts at 3:18.
That orange guy creeps me the fuck out. At the beginning of the video I thought he was wearing a bodysuit and mask.
Phil Tippett looks awesome with that beard, like a special effects Santa.
Dude, I am so frickin psyched for Mad God.
And well...then there's this...
Hey space guys / moon hoax guys. Watch this. Give it at least 20 minutes. You'll want to finish it.
(sorry for the poor quality, I'll see if I can find a better copy on youtube...
The things that are always, always forgotten with these documentaries are Apollo 8 and Apollo 10. The US had already performed two successful round trips to the moon by the time of Apollo 11. You'd think the mission was the first time humans had been in space the way they talk about it.
Also, the documentary is a joke right?
Also, the documentary is a joke right?
According to the website it's a purposeful manipulation of archival footage and interviews to convince viewers that the moon landing was a hoax, in order, and I quote, "to inform and entertain the viewer, but also to shake him up - make him aware that one should always view television with a critical eye."
So there's that...I guess.
Yeah, the Moon Hoax video is a joke, and it gets more and more obvious as it goes. "That ship in that movie looked just like ours! It had a point at the top... it had... rockets... It was exactly the same!"
a projectionist mate of mine made this vid about the end of 35mm projection
Fuuuuuuuck
I have always been, and will forever be a huge fan of beatboxing flautists.
And although he doesn't really use it to much in this vid, Greg Pattillo is an amazing beatbox flautist. But this rendition is just awesome.
