Re: "Extended Edition" Community Podcast
I really enjoyed listening to the Trek discussion, despite having only seen Wrath of Khan. If there's a follow-up episode on TNG films, I'll try and give them all a watch so I can join in.

That might be a good idea to do the next 4 films before delving in to Abrams films.
In either case, I'm up for the next Trek discussion
You did well, sir! You've got a great personality which comes across really well over the ol' podcast format. It'd be a pleasure to have you in future episodes.
Aw, thanks man
I was nervous, I won't lie, and I rambled a bit when I was unsure how to end a sentence and nobody else was talking but that'll improve.
I thought it went well
That'll sort itself out, Jimmy. As I told you last night, when there's 4-5 people trying to talk, you'll either have dead silence or guys talking in each other's mouths. We don't know each other that well, and especially when we bring new blood around we'll have these issues. But once we're all comfortable around each other, I think they'll just fade away.
Just listen to FiyH's first couple of episodes, and then listen to the latest ones.
Yeah, I found it quite difficult to find the right time to jump in to say something, and inevitably ended up talking over someone else who had also just started talking or vice versa. No-one wants there to be a moment of silence, so you've got 3 others all eager to avoid that by speaking as soon as the 4th has finished or seems to be. There seemed to be a slight delay too, possibly with my mic, where I would start talking and I don't think you guys could hear until that crucial millisecond too late. I really hate interrupting other people, hence the sometimes rather long stretches where you wonder whether I'm still there! We need a 'want to talk' flashing notification on the hangout
There are things I think of now which I wish I had said, like how the main weakness of The Motion Picture is that the dominant Decker-Kirk and Decker-Ilia relationships replace the core Kirk-Spock-McCoy dynamic and simply aren't as fun, making the film much more dull that it should have been. And to add to this, Shatner and Nimoy are playing their roles with almost deadly seriousness (relative to the other films). Oh well, live and learn. Did any of you take notes? I ended up jotting down my ratings at the beginning but a few times I forgot about something I had thought of whilst waiting to jump in. Did you guys get that?
I enjoyed it, always fun to actually chat with people about something like Trek and putting voices to names, as it were, was great to do after all this time.

Red, you need a camera so you can put your hand up when you want to speak
I heard you a few times and stepped in to let you speak, the problem is you sounded pretty quiet, it was easy to miss you sometimes
And I really appreciated that Jimmy, thanks. So my volume was pretty low huh? I'm always worried that if it's set too loudly it'll pick up others (it's an xbox headset!) which has happened when playing games or using Teamspeak. If I'm allowed a next time, I'll turn it up more or speak louder.
Will look into the webcam as that's a pretty easy old school solution - "you at the back there with your hand raised?"
So my volume was pretty low huh?
Yeah, I should have said something during the show so you didn't think people were ignoring you on purpose, sorry.
Aye. Volume on your end was a bit on the dodgy side. Next time just turn it up, and if there's an echo, we'll let you know instead. Besides, Hangout tries its best to cancel out echoes and external noise.
Yeah, red, you were pretty quiet. Always the fun part of testing out new equipment.
I wonder if the show will get to the point where everyone will raise their hands to speak
Oh man, now I'm the guy you can't hear and have to turn up the volume to hear, and then it's too loud when the others speak... I hate that guy.
Any interest in recording a Star Trek into Darkness spoilercast this weekend (today or tomorrow)? I'm itching to talk about it and would prefer to record on a weekend instead of a weekday
Sorry I'm working tomorrow.
ID, seen it. Time dependent thumbs up. Best time is my night, UTC 03:00 to 06:00 if my clock math is right. About 4 hours from now is another way to say it.

Yeah, that's 4am on my part. 3am on Owen's part.
But it's tea time in OZ, right?
We could do early afternoon US west coast tomorrow, like 12PM or 1PM, that should be like 8/9PM UK time right? Could go even earlier if it works better for European folks.
Or just do it whenever at the next normal recording time
That might work for me, but I'd be subject to suddenly leaving or screaming at children.
Yeah, that might actually work for me.
Did I miss it?
Nope, didn't happen. I think we'll record it at whenever the next regular podcast is
