A brilliant band covering a brilliant Bond theme. Really good stuff.

Re: Cool vids...again.

Since we seem to be on a music kick, I thought I'd post quite possibly my favourite song of all time. You'd have to be a real grouch to not smile during this, it's like an injection of Happiness (made all the more intense and satisfying because Footloose has some pretty dark scenes).

They remade Footloose a couple of years ago and although it's pretty good and retains the same ending (with some identical shots and dance moves), it doesn't quite capture the same magic.

I have the original Footloose on Blu Ray, it has a Kevin Bacon commentary!

Re: Cool vids...again.

I love Buffy and I love stunts so I was thrilled when the stunt co-ordinator for seasons 2-4, Jeff Pruitt, started posting these on Youtube. They strongly feature (rather obviously as she was Buffy's double)  his wife, the awesome Sophia Crawford. Sorry if you're not interested in this but to quote Teague- this is so my shit-

Re: Cool vids...again.

New thread rule. No one is allowed to apologize in advance, or otherwise ask forgiveness for posting something  that we may not all find interesting. We're all big girls and boys. We'll survive we don't happen to think your video is interesting to us.

(This does not mean stop saying what the video is or talking about it, I'm just sick of seeing meaningless apologies in advance.)

Re: Cool vids...again.

But....I just wanted to quote Teague. Couldn't really care if nobody liked the vids or not, nobody is forcing them to watch. Can't even say things ironically these days big_smile

Anyway, inspired by talk of Doomsday in another thread, I remembered that film used Two Tribes in its climax. I then remembered a better use of the song in the 1985 Comic Strip film The Supergrass. Want to know just how badass Robbie Coltraine is? Watch this and know that that is really him, no stunt double used at all and no safety harness or any of that pussy shit big_smile

Re: Cool vids...again.

I was never a huge fan of the blocking in the Buffy choreography, but Sophia Crawford has such awesome fast-twitch reflexes that she makes every kick seem spontaneus.  Her switch kick and turning side and hook kicks in particular are super crisp.  It always made me sad when they would show Sarah Michelle actually hit a bag because, TKD Brown Belt or no, that chick CANNOT punch.

Sophia Crawford is awesome. She was the stunt double for the original Pink Ranger too, fact fans.

Jimmy, I saw the Supergrass years ago, I should really track it down again.

I met the director once when he was promoting "Churchill The Hollywood Years" which I never saw but apparently was bobbins.

Re: Cool vids...again.

Peter Richardson is an odd chap. He basically created The Comic Strip and had creative control of many of its output and because of this, he has gone back and edited quite a lot of the old stuff. The dvd version of The Supergrass has about 8 minutes missing and some of the TV episodes have had scenes snipped too, for no  reason other than he wasn't happy with it. Now, I fully respect that but his edits were pointless and have caused fans of the Comic Strip to complain. One of the edits for an episode called Transatlantic Raiders completely removes an important emotional beat and without it, the ending just isn't the same.....

Re: Cool vids...again.

Oh dude.

If we could have a whole Tim Minchin thread, even that would not be enough for me.

Let's dive into the obscure, in the spirit of the thread:

Shooting the season finale of Californication, there was a scene that took place at a concert. Tim was playing "guy onstage at concert." (Not as himself, funnily enough.)

In between takes, he sort of... carefully... starts... singing... "Hallelujah," and the onstage extras start playing along with him as the crew sets up a new angle. By the time he knows he's not gonna get in trouble, he really gets into it, and it makes me happy.

For the lazy, 3:15 is where it becomes truly awesome.

Dude I am so right there with yah. I've had the Pope Song stuck in my head ever since I heard the news...not quite sure what that says about me...but well, there it is.

And that clip is so freaking cool. I love Tim Minchin so much.

Re: Cool vids...again.

Coming soon from Roosterteeth. A series, based around a bunch of pretty kickass looking Mounty Oum fights, with zero connective story tissue. Alright then.

Yeah, that trailer is pretty crazy. Saw that at the end of their most recent Project Freelancer Season. Which, is also worth watching, if for no other reason than this:

God loves you!
