Re: The Wizard of Oz
My three are The Goonies, Bugsy Malone and Ghostbusters

Star Wars, The Princess Bride, and probably Explorers.
Ghostbusters, Batman, and Care Bears 2.
Now, that's a party!
And/or a slash fanfic.
The Goonies, The Sandlot, and An American Tale: Fievel Goes West
Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi would be my three. But that's probably cheating a bit, so - Star Wars, Jurassic Park and E.T.
Jurassic Park, Star Wars, Indiana Jones.
Disney's Robin Hood, Dumbo, An American Tale: Fievel Goes West (the last one being the only VHS we owned)
George of The Jungle (Brendan Fraser one), Space Jam and if I had to remember a third one, it would maaaaybe be Toy Story (or Disney's Robin Hood). We didn't really have a lot of movies around when I was a kid.
But hey, I watched the shit out of George of The Jungle and Space Jam.
So Mike's three movies are Ghostbusters, Annie and The Wizard of Oz. What about the rest of y'all?
So, I have a soft spot for most children's animated films (there are a list of exceptions but that is a whole other list ) so generally those can work for me.
However, to list three would be Emperor's New Groove (I can watch that one again and again), Star Wars (the original) and Princess Bride, with George of the Jungle edging in there.

Wait, now I'm confused. I thought the 3 movies were the pinnacle ones from our childhood, TENG came out in 2000.

I'm still a child at heart. Like I said, I have a soft spot for children's movies, regardless of release date.
Fine, fine, play by the rules *sighs*
Star Wars, Aladdin and Princess Bride, with George of the Jungle tailing in there.
Good man
If I were to play by your rules I'd definitely throw in The Emperors New Groove and Osmosis Jones.
my three were the star wars movies. I would watch them every summer we went to northern Michigan to see my relatives. My uncle had all three on this one, blue VHS tape. I would watch them at least three times while I was there. BTTF comes in close fourth.
Mine were Jaws, Tremors and Labyrinth.
With Jaws 2 and Robocop 2 as close seconds. I had a thing for monsters.
Since it came up, honorable mentions goes to miss Foster's little song number in Bugsy Malone – rewind repeat, and Candleshoe. I probably had another thing as well

I wasn't trying to establish rules, per se; I was just more interested in those movies that helped establish your taste in film. And knowing this forum, I definitely should have said straight up that Star Wars only counts as one.
My brother reminded me of one I'd nearly forgotten, Unico.
My mother hated these movies, 'cause they are fucking depressing, and the tapes "mysteriously" went missing after we moved. Forget about how cutesy the trailer is. Unico is one baby unicorn's endless tale of woe. Because the gods are jealous of his strange power to make the people around him happy, the poor creature is repeatedly taken from his family and friends, deprived of his memories, and abandoned in various desolate locations as punishment (originally the gods wanted to kill him, but changed their minds). It doesn't take him long to make new friends, whom he eventually ends up rescuing from some cruel fate. But no sooner is the day saved, than the West Wind comes along and snatches him up all over again.
Unico was the creation of Osamu Tezuka, so it had royal pedigree, but the tv series never got picked up and Tezuka died in 1989 without creating anymore stories. So basically, fans are stuck with a downer ending and the implication that it will be repeated ad infinitum.
I remember Oz as being an Easter tradition (aired on CBS).
Very fun commentary, and thanks for clearing up the aspect ratio thing. I watched this (while listening) having borrowed the 70th anniversary DVD (from my mom) and thought, "Damn, wish I had the blu ray so it would be widescreen", so when I do buy the BD, I won't be confused when it's not
My three: Star Wars, Explorers, and The Goonies (Neverending Story being very close too, they showed that on HBO A LOT, back in the day, along with Krull)
Funny how these three ages us, Space Jam? You're not old like me.

Lol, I get that a lot around here
Space Jam wasn't in my childhood rotation (it was released when I was 12). It is, however, in my adult rotation.
What would have been my contribution to The (evidently doomed) Road Trip:
I was all about the violent action movies as a kid and couldn't stand Disney stuff, perhaps as a by-product.
My 3 were Predator, Terminator 2, and of all things Eraser. That one I remember in particular as we had it taped on VHS and there was one summer where I'm pretty sure I watched it almost every single day, to where I had every line memorized and would say it out loud in time with the movie. It's faded with time, but the Alan Silvestri score is still engrained deep in my brain as a result.
I was born in '76 so I was 12/13 when I started watching action films, so my three as a teen were Robocop, Lethal Weapon and Die Hard. Tango & Cash, Predator and Red Heat were scattered throughout that lot too. And Commando. And Lethal Weapon 2.

Yep, was born in '75, add The Last Boy Scout to that list and those were al in my rotation.

Ah yes. This one gets honorable mention for a childhood rotation movie, but this came in after I'd already watched the others about a million times each.
I actually really want to do a commentary for this because it is possibly the bleakest, saddest, most disturbing kid's movie of all time. (And the sequel is no slouch in the fuckedupedness either.)
