Re: Release, Record: 11/9

I think TRON & Citizen Kane might be the most fantastic double feature that DiF has ever encountered. Better even than Transformers 2 & The Hurt Locker.

Re: Release, Record: 11/9

Ha. Great combo. I've never seen all of Kane but i will now.

It's a shame DIF forum members aren't more concentrated geographically because what we need to do is get together, have a couple of beers, watch the films in perfect sync with DIF HQ, have a webcam, have 1 mic, and be the 5th friend in your head offering unobtrusive, lucid comments. And burp noises.

Posted too soon, we're gonna do something other than Kane.

Ahh, first recording in a few weeks that I will miss.
Heading back east for a week of Thanksgiving, and touching base with family, been ... wow almost 4 years since I've been back.
Looks like I'll have to catch them when they get released this time.
Have fun guys.

And now it's Karate Kid. The original, I assume, and not the new remake.

I'm surprised you guys are actually doing Tron, what with what you said during the anniversary show.  And Karate Kid is cool.  I actually have it on Blu-Ray.  Yes, I am a dewb.  I like the music in the Karate Kid series.

During the commentary you will undoubtedly hear me sing the lyrics to every song on the soundtrack.  And I'm not just talking about "You're the Best," or "Cruel Summer."

The Karate Kid soundtrack is awesome.

Re: Release, Record: 11/9

I just listened to part of the live Tron live chat and some great points were made. I agree with Eddie when he says part of its appeal is that it's unique in spite of all its flaws. The vfx were done that way because they had no choice. Looking forward to hearing the whole thing.

Re: Release, Record: 11/9

Just watched the live chats to Tron and Karate Kid. I share the Doty's love of Kid (1984) and will NEver see the remake out of solidarity to my 80s heritage. Of the Cobra-Kai's, I think you guys forgot to point out Larry B. Scott. He was the token Black 'Kai'. Most famous for playing Lamar in 'Revenge of the Nerds', I felt he was short-shifted on screen time.
I heard Teague mention a "Home Alone" chat in the future. I think it would be a great movie to comment on, what with its' 20 th anniversary this month. Scary, No? Also, I too love the Soundtrack. I would listen to "Somewhere in my Memory," every year driving home for the holidays.

Looks like Netflix, for now, isn't going to carry Moby Dick. Too bad sad

Re: Release, Record: 11/9

According to the Asylum folks, the more people put it on their queue, the more likely Netflix will make it available... couldn't hurt...

*no, I don't get a share of DVD sales.  smile

Re: Release, Record: 11/9

It obviously didn't get the buzz of something like Megashark which Netflix quickly got. Is it bad enough to get an official Rifftrax, which might speed up sales? smile

Word nerd note: "short-shrifted" is the term, from "given short shrift" from "shrive" meaning to take confession and give absolution as a priest, the implication being that a priest who rushes the process may nullify it.

Now go forth and sin no more.

Bad enough?! Bad enough!?! Did you see the trailer?! "I'd strike the SUN if it insulted me!" gives me CHILLS!

Did Tom Skerritt bring that intensity to Mammoth? Did Sir Ben Kingsley bring that caliber gun to A Sound of Thunder? Do you think Eric Roberts could muster a 40-watt bulb to Bostwick's arc lamp for Sharktopus? Hell no! And 'hell no!' I say again!

From hell's heart I stab at thee!!

This guy agrees.

Good lord, the thought of having 2010:Moby Dick get the Rifftrax treatment... the mind boggles.

Re: Release, Record: 11/9

He does indeed, to the point where I've seen him being accused of being an employee of The Asylum.

But I can vouch for the fact that he really isn't - that blog appeared in August when we were in the middle of post on Moby, and I was personal witness to the amazement at the Asylum when they discovered somebody was devoting an entire blog to them.

I guess it's a variation of Internet Rule 42, or maybe a corollary - If It Exists, Somebody Is  A Fan Of It.

Re: Release, Record: 11/9

You're thinking of Rule 34. Though I suppose that that would be a great Rule 42. It holds up perfectly.
