I still have a soft-spot for Hollow Man. You have to approach it more as a slasher movie instead of a smart sci-fi movie. And a slasher movie where the slasher is an invisible guy, directed by Verhoeven is still pretty awesome. The FX work is really good too.

My biggest problem is that it wasn't a slasher flick and the only advantage he was supposed to have was his invisibility.  I'm ok with him going crazy and killing people but the fact that he becomes an unstoppable monster ala Jason Voorhees is where it loses me.  He could breathe under water longer than someone he was drowning, he got lit on fire, electricuted and smashed in the head with a crowbar and still got up to chase after Brolin and Shue.  And for some reason his invisibility went away during the final scenes.  They took the time to set up why explosions were happening but didn't explain why he would survive any of those things.

Is there a full length audio file for this or is the 96 minute version the only one that exists?

I use to enjoy Hollow Man way more than I probably should but recently it has dawned on me just how ridiculous the way it portrays him. It's like, Kevin Bacon would have snapped and started killing people regardless, but invisibility just made it happen sooner.

The Director's Cut was paced a little better, and gave you the impression that he devolved over time.  It also showed longer cuts of his violent acts that made his leap to killing people less of a snapping moment and more in line with a path he was on.  That still didn't fix any of the problems I had with the final 3rd of the movie but it was better.

What can I say about this... besides "OMG THAT WAS FUN!" It was Trope Filled Fun. Maybe a Norwegian Cabin in the Woods with Nazi Zoombies. I'm still giggling with glee.  big_smile

Is this the movie where the fat guy gets to bang a chick in an outhouse?...  Crazy fucking Europeans.

1. I'm with Dorkman on the need for a Bioshock movie done properly.  I'm not even sure if I care if it's the story from the game but seeing Rapture done properly with a quality story would be epic.  I'd love to see Fincher do this one.

2. A conclusion to HBO's Deadwood.  The biggest cancelled series disappointment of my media consuming lifetime.

3. I'd like to see a movie set in the testing facility in the Portal franchise written by Joss Whedon.  Not necessarilly the main story from Portal/Portal 2 but something involving Cave Johnson before the facility was vacated.

I was listening to this track the other day and the Going to the Mansion thing came up and it reminded me a lot of the movie Hollow Man.  I thought that movie had a lot of potential to explore what it would do to your morality if you could no longer be seen.  The movie started out ok, although obviously the science was bullshit. The final 3rd of the movie totally went to the mansion.  The guy you couldn't see all of a sudden had super powers and couldn't be killed.  Not only that but he had the remarkable ability to never get dirty for more than a couple of seconds at a time.  Trey mentioned Hollow Man in another commentary that I forget, something about somebody that worked at a visual effects company asking him his opinion on taking on the project and his response.  They totally did there job but that movie seriously needed script work.  I've watched Hollow Man more times than I care to admit but I ended up with a decent Rifftrax-esque commentary for it.

I'm not sure where the tangent came from but I loved that Tip Toes came up in the conversation.  I saw a trailer for that movie when it was released and had to have it.  It's ridiculous but it's a movie I pass out on occasion because nobody has seen it.

Link that shit!! We have a creations forum for just such purposes!

Yeah, that's a second on this one.

Here's a link to a couple of educational shorts I riffed on that I have up on youtube.  The other ones are actually pay links so I'll work on uploading them somewhere free so there's no risk in checking them out, aside from finding the movies.  Please let me know what you think.

I thought I was the only one who saw his pants from the pilot.  I was looking forward to the commentary on the DVD to point it out.  Lol.

The audio file for this one is messed up.  I'm pretty sure the length of the file is correct for the movie but the actual commentary is fragmented and skips forward in time, similar to what happens to Bradley Cooper in Limitless.  I'm guessing you lose about 45 minutes of content because there's that much silence at the end of the track.

Shucks.

But seriously, I'll look into it.  neutral

Did this ever get looked into?

Does this commentary still exist?  I've heard it mentioned on several other tracks but haven't been able to locate it.

First post.  My real name is Chris.  I'm Raven both here and on the Rifftrax forum and that's directly how I found this site.  I met Chris Hanel while a member there while Geekza was still up and running.  I wasn't a listener there but I was involved in Chris's Riff Raff Theater productions as a contributing writer.  I met him in Iowa City at two of the live shows there and had a blast.  When I asked another Rifftrax forum member for a copy of their original Harry Potter riff mp3 I got sent a copy of the DIF Phantom Menace commentary by mistake.  I listened to it and laughed my ass off, found the site and I've been going through various commentaries over the last couple of months.  Finally decided to get in on the conversation and sign up.

More about me.

Worst injury-
In 2nd grade I stepped on a piece of glass in a lake near our home and sliced the base of my 2nd toe on my right foot that ended up with 6 stitches and a walking boot for a month to make sure I didn't lose a toe to infection.

Favorite pizza-  Free pizza.  I'm currently in charge of running 2 Domino's Pizza franchises that my father owned before he passed away a few years back.  So my favorite pizza changes but I can pretty much make whatever I want whenever I want.

Looking forward to contributing to the conversation and getting to know all you fine folks.  Being a fan of Rifftrax and listening to Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett for your entertainment, you get used to talking about the guys projects and not really interacting with the guys themselves.  It was really strange getting an email directly from one of the voices I've been listening too.
