Someone on twitter described the action scenes in Transformers perfectly, and it sums up why I never much liked anytime the robots start fighting: It looks like someone threw a drum kit down a flight of stairs.
The brilliance of the design of the original cartoons was that they were blocky and chunky with no more than two primary colors and distinctive silhouettes. When any two of the Bayformers start fighting, I literally can't tell where one ends and the other begins. And if I can't tell who is punching what with who, then why should I care?
We moved over the weekend, so I've been completely exhausted and half awake most of the time. This morning I got my son out of bed, changed him, and began our morning routine of breakfast and a little bit of Team UmiZoomi that I had on DVR. After that I showered, got dressed, and started making my breakfast. It was here that I realized I was one off on the DVR, and Grayson had made it into 20 minutes of True Detective instead Team UmiZoomi.
There's a lot to unpack in The Departed. It's possibly my favorite Scorcese, and damn, my girl Thelma is on fucking POINT in this one. Tons of metaphor and every visual plays to theme about self deception and the poison of ambition. Rewatch the movie, but with this thought: Matt Damon's character is closeted. They don't come out and say it, but it's heavily hinted at through the story. It adds an extra layer of depth behind his choices.
Dave Bautista said he wanted the role badly, went to extra acting classes, read through a ton of source material and lobbied hard for it. When he got the role, he said he dropped to his knees and wept.
It's just hysterical to hear the Taylor Kitsch comparison to a guy that has exhibited work more similar to Chris Farley than your average Hearthrob Beefcake (Heartbeef?).
Star-Lord is Jack Sparrow from the first Pirates movie, the guy who desperately wants to be notorious.
Except that guy ain't no Johnny Depp. I'm good with the wacky premise and tone. Except for that lead, who doesn't bring much to the party. More and more movies seem to be casting abs, not actors.
That's a role that requires "Nathan Fillion, but younger" to make work. From what we're shown here, new guy isn't bringing it.
Chris Pratt has very legit comic chops. He does great work on Parks and Rec. As for "casting abs," that is hysterically funny, since he had to lose about 45 pounds to get the lead.
Eh, it's kinda anecdotal and not really based on actual Data. The theater I saw it in was mixed evenly between kids and hipsters, and the kids were enjoying it just as much, singing "Everything is awesome," on the way out.
Yeah, guys, sorry about the delay. I've got it mostly written out but it was a lot longer of a process than I anticipated channeling them from just muscle memory to actual written instructions. Teague emailed me the master list of people who requested them, and I swear I will try to finish it tonight.
