the cosmic microwave background (CMB) had a temperature of 273–373 K (0-100◦C), allowing early rocky planets (if any existed) to have liquid water chemistry on their surface and be habitable, irrespective of their distance from a star...allowing the chemistry of life to possibly begin when the Universe
was merely 10–17 million years old.
The Hawaiian Spam fetish strikes me as such a weird cargo-cult artifact.
Several anthropology careers are waiting to be made.
I got one!
Part "Where are they now," part PSA:
Is this 100% zoom? It looks a little off. Might want to go with a higher shutter speed next time?
Not saying it sucked. It's a cool picture.
Thanks!
The top shot is cropped about 50%, the second one was the same original framing so it's cropped quite a bit more. The Sigma is just soft at wider apertures, I should have gone f/9 or 10 and ISO'ed up a bit. Also, the sun was getting low and I guess my manual settings had gotten a bit stale...in the moment, these things still get past me sometimes. Also, facebook compression.
Also, nice macros Sam. Are those live-sun, or lightbox?
Cry baby, cry.
Three things this thread needs:
Last weekends photo winners:
That was a mouse, I saw the hawk grab the little bugger right off the ground in a flyby.

Oh, yeah, exif dump:

That's that Gagnam style guy, right? <ante upped>

The EPA has reportedly angered some local officials who claim the agency rushed to shut down the facility. According to Capt. Kevin Houlihan of NYPD's 5th Precinct, paranormal disturbances in Manhattan have increased exponentially since the decision was made to seize the operation. Houlihan cited several instances of blood running down walls, canines and felines cohabitating peacefully, and, perhaps most alarming, the potential for "mass hysteria."
Yeah, like it. Also good posting the settings, we should make that an official suggestion in photo threads.

I'd also accept that Waits is the devil incarnate. Which, if true, colour me Satanic.

Chiming in to note that this is a thread and discussion worthy of us as a community.
Carry on.
A nifty little photo I shot today that I'm pretty happy with.
Bonus content:
I am in agreement with that statement at all levels.
Yeah, that reminds me About my Tuesday comment. It was 5F outside. I stayed in.
Did you take that shot? Gorgeous indeed!
(is that a word?)
"Cinematographical" is a word I coined in the 90's for that usage. Free license.
Thanks for the heads up, I'll try to get something Tuesday morning!

It's hard to argue with the Doc(umentary/tor).
I noticed the parsing of their answer as well. How would you feel about them making the argument that the whales are better off in human care? Free food, no predators, healthcare, stud services... it's not as though there are no stresses or hardships in the wild orca's lifestyle. Ask a harbor seal how they feel about it.
As someone who has visited Zoo's on numerous occasions I can't deny my own complicity in any moral problems with keeping/enslaving orca's... or elephants... or horses... or chickens. Modern humans dominate animals, that's how we roll. I'd truly love to envision another arrangement; my empathy is always in favor of the subjugated.
