There's a great book called "My Name Was Judas" by C.K. Stead that is an interesting retelling of the story of Jesus from Judas' perspective.
"We all know the story of Jesus told by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, but what about the version according to Judas?
In this witty, original and teasingly controversial account, some forty years after the death of Jesus, Judas finally tells the story as he remembers it. Looking back on his childhood and youth from an old age the gospel writers denied him, Judas recalls his friendship with Jesus; their schooling together; their families; the people who would go on to be disciples and followers; their journeys together and their dealings with the powers of Rome and the Temple.
His is a story of friendship and rivalry, of a time of uncertainty and enquiry, a testing of belief, endurance and loyalty."
From an Amazon review: "If Jesus were the Son of God and he appeared on earth to teach us the Way, and died on the cross to save us, why have the Christians since time immemorial condemned Judas as a foul traitor? It has always puzzled a detached individual that the apostle from Iscariot, who clearly was part of the proclaimed divine plan, should have been so vilified. What if, however, Judas was not a betrayer? What if he didn't hang himself on a fig tree in shame after the crucifixion of Christ? What if, indeed, he was Jesus' most faithful friend to the bitter end?"
That's essentially the idea that the book explores. Highly recommended reading.
Nothing to do with your post, but your username has made me wanna do a Firefly themed parody of 'Everything is Awesome' from The Lego Movie called 'Everything is Shiny'.
I got round to watching Thor: The Dark World the other day. I thought the first was alright, but I wasn't a fan of this one at all. I know quick cutting is a thing in big action blockbusters these days, but bloody hell, it's like they just went cut happy in this movie.
I actually quite enjoyed the first movie for the bit of popcorn fun it is, but the other two were just terrible. This looks like it's going more in the right direction, but the trailer for the third movie looked pretty cool. We'll wait and see, I guess.
Turns out the director of The Voorman Problem (up for Best Short Film) is a graduate from my university. Not seen it, but I may as well root for the guy.
We've all seen those face morphs online, so and so combined with so and so.
EXAMPLE: Sean Connery and Matt Smith.
+ =
But here's where we do things a bit differently. Instead of just posting random morphs, you have to combine the last morph posted with another famous face. If we're lucky, we may eventually get an amalgamation of everybody ever... but probably not.
There are plenty of sites online that let you do this kind of thing, I used MorphThing, but they all do the same job. So pick somebody, mix 'em up with Sean Smith/Matt Connery (or if you're from the future, whatever the hell was posted last) up there and lets see how long it takes to just produce a huge mess.
I'm more of a random downloader myself, I mostly only subscribe to FIYH and a few SModcast shows (Hollywood Babble-On, Fat Man on Batman, Tell 'Em Steve Dave and Edumacation).
Just got back from seeing it and I also enjoyed the hell out of it. Now it's time to place bets on how long 'Everything is Awesome' stays in my head for.
EDIT: Got two Kids Combos just for the Lego minifigs. I have no regrets.
Well then, this is Death Clock. It's a short comedy of sorts about a guy who finds out he has just an hour left to live. It's essentially just a bit of silly fun I had with my friends and shot on a really rushed schedule. Shot on Saturday and Sunday and finished up editing tonight.
A couple of forumfolk gave me some feedback on the script, so major thanks to all you guys (Faldor, Teague, Saniss, Jimmy and anybody else I might have forgotten).
So yeah, give it a watch and let us know what you think! If it's any incentive, I play a homeless guy in it.
At the risk of sounding argumentative (on the Internet, no less) but, even despite editing attempts, I don't really feel it is a love triangle, at least in the common movie sense. I think Legolas is interested in Tauriel but won't because of Thtranduil. I think Tauriel likes Legolas, but is snubbed by Thranduil and his attitude. Kili is more infatuated because she is novel and exotic, not any real romantic attachment.
Not sure if anyone knows this, but part of Tauriel's back story is that she is an orphan and Kili's story of his promise to his mother would provide a sense of compassion in helping him keep that promise.
However, I will grant that the editing of the movie seems to be trying to create a love triangle. I just don't think it really is in the sense of the world.
Ok, that was longer than I meant it to be...
Yeah, I'll totally agree it's not a proper love triangle - I just used that term for the sake of simplicity.
The backstory is interesting, where is that from? I was under the impression that Tauriel was created for the movie, am I right?
I finally got round to seeing this and I can't decide whether I enjoyed it more than the last one. Maybe it is a case of lowered expectations or something, I dunno - need to think about it a bit.
Overall I found it rather 'meh', which is disappointing because I really wanted to love these movies. I thought the whole love-triangle situation was out of place and bordering on insulting and the film in general was a bit all over the place. It's like PJ was like, 'Rightyo, I've conquered multiple endings. Let's try it with subplots!'.
I do agree with pretty much everyone else though, Smaug and Bilbo was a great scene.
