Was very interested in the bit surrounding why Marvel initially licensed out various characters.
RE: they keep the license so long as they make a movie every X amount of years thing - is there any minimum requirements placed on what constitutes a film ? - would a studio be able to say "Marvel/Disney, give us millions otherwise we'll just make a 5min youtube short film every year and tie up your beloved character http://i49.tinypic.com/9zydrq.gif" ?

^according to the tv ad, the Prometheus DVD comes with (1) a whole new opening and (2) a whole new ending - maybe this'll be enough to fix it, though (after reading many comments on the film) methinks a (3) whole new middle bit too would be required,  tongue

I was going to put

  Show
if only "sent back in time" Rory had changed his name to something like Rory "there's an angel here, get back in the tardis right sharpish" Williams (though he'da needed a bigger headstone) then present-day Rory could have avoided being touched by the Angel and sent back, by acting on this warning....

Though, maybe, just maybe, when Amy turned up in the past, and they had a little chat, they decided to leave things be and enjoy their life together.  smile

No, but: finding a £50 note under a car ($100 (ish)) could make you feel less agrieved about the trip + fall + skimmed knee that got you into a position from which you spotted it.

You mean the way the rest of the prequel trilogy totally redeemed Phantom Menace? Ya, I'm not holding my breath (although they're dumping Lindelof from the sequel, so maybe they realized how much he fucked up and will get someone to fix it)

I'm thinking back to when Menace came out and the big(?) hoo-har made about (iirc) why C3P0 didn't recognise Luke's home planet (when he arrived there in p4) since he went there in this movie (p1). People went on+on about the inconsistency and how this showed/proved .... something or other (can't remember what). But in p3, a simple memory wipe showed all the hoo-harers had jumped the gun with their hoo-hariness.  -> So I'm wondering if all the ugness felt towards Prometheus might just go/disappear when parts 2+3 have come out and the complete story is told.

[edit] thanx for all the clarifications below and @Lamer: it wouldn't surprise me  tongue

With Prometheus being the first movie in a trilogy (according to a 1min google) could the hate be premature if/when the following parts turn all the mad into big_smile ?

Is this from ages-n-ages ago or a recently done one you did in secret, cos I don't remember seeing any "we're going live in 60mins" tweats since the Aurora one.

I can't wait to see how hollywood is going to butcher this movie and remake it into a 40 million dollar,  PG-13, generic shooter full of wire fu and cuts so fast it'll make your TV bleed...  roll

Since the Director(+Writer) is Welsh (aka British big_smile) wouldn't it make sense for the Hollywood people to simply give him the money to make an English language version - and have that as The Raid p3 (they're in the process of making No2, right ?!)

Yes it would have been out of character, but with (I don't know the actual number so I'll make it up) somewhere near 100 billion people watching worldwide, and with this being such an important occasion for Britain, surely she could have dropped the veil just this once. It's not as if I wanted her to stagger in, still all harnessed up, dragging the parachute behind her, but a smile to acknowledge the fun of her Bond aided entrance, well that would have been  cool

^if only she'd given the crowd a smile when entering the stadium, that woulda been the icing on this awesome cake. But no, we get, basically something akin to a  mad  which felt like her giving the cake a big stomping-on.

My computer is in one room and the tv in another, so I follow the weekly movie commentaries by running a speaker extension cable from the computer, thru the wall and into a set of speakers, so I can watch the movie on the tv and listen to the commentary. This kinda annexed(?) joining in the live chat so (during my first few ones) I didn't log on into it. Worked fun apart from a constant boinging sound every so often. Found out later that this was the chat alert thing to signify a new entry. Couldn't mute it without logging into chat, so started logging in, muting it and watching movie. Soon realised that having someone logged into the chat but not saying anything might come across as a little strange (akin to going to a party but sitting in the corner not talking to no-one), especially when I'd fall asleep during the show, wake up 3 hours later and find people still chatting away. Then found out with Firefox you can simply deny the chat box from loading and thus stop the boinging. Success(ish) though I do wish I'd moved the computer into the other room for the LOTR thing.

Pretty much all of it is CITW. We don't go into spoilers for a few minutes, though, but generally - we recommend it. Go see it.

thanx for the info, I'll put this in my "save until movie seen" folder.

Can I ask if this is ALL about CITW, or did you move onto "other stuff each of you wanted to talk about" 1/2 way through. I've not seen the film yet and am trying to avoid finding out too much/anything about it before I do.

If one were re-imagining LOTR today ...  having dark skin wouldn't imply that you're evil.

I don't look at the Orcs and other beasties as non-White characters, but when watching the films recently the whole thing did come across as very very white. Now I don't know a lot about the world in which the whole saga is based so maybe other continents (that's the term for big islands, right ?!) are populated by non white people - there ARE other continents, right ?! - cos I recall Gandalph(?) saying to a bunch of badies to "leave this land and I won't kill your asses" (or something like that), so the LotR only takes place on one part of the planet, the other parts being all peaceful and full of love+harmoney, right ?! - I really should have read the books by now.

As for the Source Code commentary, sucks that there were glitches with it but at least it wasn't completely lost.

on the subject of LOTR and glitches, is the team putting in place numerous contingencies so you don't reach the end (at hour 13ish) only to find it wasn't recording or that the file is too big to save ?
