ya...good stuff. and possibly the best finish of any DIF ep.
thanks for the info. seems like the takeaway is basically what Homer says to himself in the guatemalan insanity pepper episode..."Note to self: stop doing anything"

dude! those are great. thanks! glad you're enjoying it.
did you see the 2001 video i posted in another thread?
here's the link because i always fuck up embedding it on this board:
Since i'm still getting a hang of editing (and premiere in general), i'd love get some tips, tricks, critiques, etc. from you or anyone else out there.
i'll gladly buy you a burrito and a pint next time you're in the bay area.
So i just finished up my first solo album... there's samples from 2001, Twilight Zone, Total Recall, and a ton of other randoms. hope you like it
(sorry about the img size)

i''ve already got 2 videos done for this and am hoping to create videos for all of them. open invitation to anyone that would like to: help, critique, add bacon.
here's a great write up on grantland.com all about Asylum and their business practices. for better or worse, no trey references, though.
So i finally finished up my solo project and this is the first official video from it. It's 2 songs linked together (Hal and Dave). thought you guys might enjoy it. (2001 content)

i'm having issues getting it to embed, sorry for the link.
bummer... i was afraid of that. After Effects will have to be down the road, i want to get deeper into Premiere first.
that being said, which export option/preset does give me the highest quality?
alright, i'm back with more questions.
I've gotten the hang of the basic functionality of Premiere, however, I haven't quite figured out what the best output format is.
the first couple attempts came out really crappy, then got worse when i uploaded them to youtube (not surprising).
I don't care about insane HD right now, I just want it to appear as clean as possible for youtube/vimeo/whatnot.
anyone have suggestions on the appropriate presets/formats?
thanks!
Harbin - nice work on Friend Zone That Shit. i was only able to check out the first version, i got an error on the second link.
i'm making my way down the rest of the list.. always a fan of checking out peoples stuff.
thanks for posting people
here's a link to a new one I just did... the samples are from Reggie Watt's TED presentation
you want random? i got random.
here's a couple tunes i did recently.
Voorhees (A Jolly Good Fellow) - http://soundcloud.com/mcbrayer/voorhees
Turquoise - http://soundcloud.com/mcbrayer/turquoise
and here's another. i realize this goes against everything Trey has said, because it's literally the first thing I've ever done on Premiere Pro (obviously still learning how to even use the program...AND i only have a basic sony camera that also shoots video)...however, I am happy with the tune.
Took me a while, but i just got finished with the podcasts. bravo. you guys covered a ton of ground, with limited retelling of stories...not an easy feat.
i'm sort of exhausted after listening...i can't imagine how beat you must have been after (or how good those post cast beers were).
also, my wife and i went to see Fellowship in san diego. it was opening week, so the place was packed and mostly silent. about 20 minutes in, a cell phone went off. the guy next to me picks up his phone and starts talking.
without any hesitation, my wife and i both turn and say "are you fucking kidding me?" at the same time... he sized me up, then sheepishly put away his phone.
the movie (and marriage) continued without any more interruptions.
i finally got premiere pro 5.5 and i'm slowly trying to learn it.
i have, what might possibly be, a stupid question.
It seems that Premiere takes nearly all video formats, but when i try and import clips from my iphone, it's saying there's no audio/video elements to the file. however, the file works fine on my computer.
any suggestions on what might be going on there?
thanks!
awesome...thanks for checking it out!
Just My Type - it's a book all about the history of fonts
on deck is - Absolute Monarchs: A History of the Papacy - i think it's going to be a VERY slow read, but as a jaded ex Catholic HS student, i'm curious to read it
man i love vancouver... i stayed at that sick hotel off to the left once.
think it's one of the few cities other than SF i could actually live.
re: Batman and Robin
this was the first movie that i ever actually considered walking out on. at one point i almost stood up and yelled, "you have to be kidding me!" and walked out...but i didn't. i thought that there was no way it could continue to be a pile of steaming dog turds and that it had to get better. so i sat through it.
it never got better. i almost want to see it again to see if i was being overly harsh, but based on the commentary, it sounds like i was right the first time.
happy friday DIF'ers!
My buddies and I just finished up our new album and I wanted to share some tunes with you folks. We're really happy with how it turned out and want to stuff it in as many ears as we can.
The next step is to start making some videos for it (*eyes DIF community suspiciously*).

you can download the album for free, as well as stream it on our website www.earthtoeugene.com.
as always, let me know if anyone is interested in working together on film/video/sound projects.
Cheers,
Ryan
Jimmy... if you want, i'd be more than happy to take a look/listen to the files and see if i can clean them up.
This is Emeryville (pixar country), facing the oakland hills. Berkeley's campus is off in the distance.
This is not nearly as cool looking as being able to stare at Alcatraz when i got to lunch at work, though.

Can I show a photo of outside of my office? Spend most of my time there, and the view outside the house is straight suburbia.
This isn't Nam, there are rules
(i'd probably do the same, more interesting)
Agreed... he's always a good interview. I recently listened to him on one of the nerdist podcasts (i think it was Making it) where he talked about making sure you write all the time. Only about 10% of your writing will be good, but if you are always writing, that 10% will have significantly more material than the average persons 10%.
a super simple concept, but for some reason just clicked for me.

almost done with it. Reading the outlines in the appendix. Curious if anyone here has read it.
It was an odd choice for me, since I have (well had) no real interest in writing screenplays, but thought i'd pick it up since i love Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant.
They break down the process pretty well, ranging from the outlining process to the different parking lots at the studios and what that means for you.
Since it's all about writing tentpole movies, they break it down from a studio perspective (and what they want/expect) vs. treating it like art.
I'd love to hear thoughts from the various writers on here, if they agreed with it, points of contention, etc.
