This is probably not gonna help, but the instant you talked about a concept album, I was sold.

This is purely me, though. My musical tastes dwell in the progressive world, and as I've already explained with the "Your 5 favorite albums" thread, concept albums are what I love the most. They're like a movie. They tell you a story, using music to convey emotions.

(and I realize I feel the same way about video games; no wonder I like the Half-Life and Portal series so much)

Anyway. My very subjective two cents.

Seriously, check out the scene in episode 2 of the first season, where Ned and Robert have their little picnic chat under the trees.   Robert asks Ned flat-out about Snow's mother and Ned refuses to talk about it.   In the same conversation, Robert also talks about how determined he is to eliminate all traces of the Targaryaen bloodline.

Watch that scene with the mindset  of "Ned doesn't want Robert to know Snow is the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna" and everything Ned says and does makes perfect sense.  smile

True, but it also works with "Ned doesn't want to talk about that one time in his life when he didn't act with honor".

I guess we'll know with the last two books. I don't see Jon's arc ending with what happens at the end of book 5.

Something I noticed with last episode: they appear to have dropped (at least for the moment) Jorah Mormont's initial mission (which was, spy on Daenerys for King's landing). They mentioned it in season 1, but it should have been revealed to Daenerys before Yunkai's taking.

I wonder whether they're just keeping it for later or not. Jorah's supposed to be going his own way and capture Tyrion.

  Show
I don't see them bringing the Purple Wedding for a last episode; they need to keep some big stuff for next year. Although, there's also the crossbow thing...

Clearly, the reason they put this in the second-to-last episode is so the season finale can show how much this changes the game for next season.

Yes, which is something they've already done with the first season.

People are gonna start fearing the number 9, I tell ya.

I mean, the reactions from the Internet. I'm having the time of my life on Twitter right now.

I think what's happening right now is pretty much exactly what we (the book readers) have been expecting for the past few weeks. And I haven't even seen the episode yet! tongue

Gotcha. That sucks.

Hey, a request! Solsbury Hill by Peter Gabriel. It's like my favourite song ever.

Please. PLEASE. DON'T.

She's had her time. Leave her behind. Moffat does that, I send him pizzas.

Well, yeah. But your moves must be a bit different. I don't know.

I hate you.

My method has always been the same - it's the exact one MasterZap described. But I don't think it allows me to get it done in under 2 minutes most of the time. I couldn't follow your method, Teague, but it seems very different. Could you describe it a bit?

There you go. 2'14". Not so bad, although I had a bit of trouble with the last layer. Sometimes I get stuck in a loop of combinations for some reason.

I love this thread. Thank you. I want to broaden my horizons, and I think there are jewels to find in there. As I said in the other thread, I watched The Chaser yesterday and it kinda blew me away, because it doesn't work the way we're used to.  It doesn't compromise, which is refreshing.

Damn. I am new to korean movies, so I wasn't expecting getting so repeatedly hit on the head with a hammer (which is very appropriately said consdering the movie). This movie is tough, but the characters are very well developed, and it kept me thrilled the whole time.

Welcome, Cory!

Nathan, any chance one of those live performances was recorded in some way?

Saniss, in Doctor Who continuity the Time War occurs between the 1996 TV film with the 8th Doctor and the 2005 revived series with the 9th Doctor, so we didn't see it in-screen. Watching Old Who won't get you that, I'm afraid.

Yes of course, I know that. I only meant that if you also knew what happened before the Time War, you might be more eager to know more about that whole gap between the two series.

I loved everything in this post, Luka.

Your interpretation completely makes sense. And it makes me very, very excited for the 50th anniversary. Although I still haven't seen the old era, I've always wanted to know more about the Time War. Ninth was brilliantly written and performed, and made me ask myself what hell the Doctor was just getting out of. We got some answers in series 3 and 4, but not all of them.

And, holy hell. John Hurt.

As for the episode, I loved it. I agree it wasn't the most spectacular season ending, but everything was done properly. Even River Song was great in this, despite the fact that I didn't care much for her arc in series 6. She only came back as the Doctor's wife, bringing back her death in Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead in a very appropriate way.

Clara's arc and its unfolding is a bit underwhelming, but I think, as Luka said, it was more of a setup to introduce what's coming next. She remains a great companion to the Doctor, and I look forward to seeing more of her in series 8 (although I have no idea how this will turn out).

Listening to you singing/playing the piano has always made me happy. If you put at least as much passion in this album as you've always had before, I can safely assume it's going to be amazing.

Also, yeah - I'd totally buy that.

Really, it's Prometheus again.  Beautiful eye candy with a semblance of meaning, but all happening for reasons that are completely ridiculous.    As hard as we were on Prometheus for being ignorant of  how reality works, Into Darkness deserves the same treatment.  If anything, this Trek is even more Written By A Kid than Prometheus.
